Tackiest gift? Funny Moment?

So, post holiday now.

Did anyone get a super tacky gift?

How about your Blossom, did they embarrass you with a not so appropriate response to a gift?

No tacky gifts here, and thankfully Jax's greediness didn't show up until we were home and it was just the 4 of us. We open family presents on Christmas Eve. In the weeks prior to Christmas, whenever asked, the only thing the boy ever said he wanted was Trucks, race cars and more trucks. So, opening presents Chrostmas Eve, he'd open something and say very excitedly "Oh, pajamas!!!!" and then after a 3 second pause he'd toss it aside and say "I don't want that". LOL

When my nephew was that age, he opened a video that one of his aunts had got him. He said "Just another dumb video" his mother was appalled and said 'John, that isn't a nice thing to say, you need to thank Aunt Jamie for that." He looked at my sister Jamie and said "thanks for the dumb video, but it's not what I wanted" ROFL

LOL that's a riot....have you seen the video on youtube...the jimmie kimmel video...something about he told parents to give the kids bum gifts and videotape it....so this one family I forget what they gave the girl but she was pissed...and the mom tried to tell her that it was a joke that jimmie kimmel wanted to video it blah blah blah...and she said 'tell jimmie kimmel he can like my balls' or some crap like that.....i only caught the tail end of it...lol.....

too funny about jax and too funny about your nephew!!!!!

tyler kept running around my sil's house saying 'i want more presents i want more presents'

everything lyssa opened she said 'that's just what i wanted' and the first thing she ran to in the morning was lotso...but later in the day she says to me in the kitchen 'hey...i asked for 2 lotso's ' .....so i said...oh maybe santa knew that you guys didn't have a buzz so maybe thats why you only got one lotso

yesterday they were sitting on the couch playing with their leappads....tyler tried sitting right next to her and she said 'tyler you can't sit next to me' tyler said 'but lyssa you're my best friend' so lyssa says 'i can't be your best friend because you're not in the big kid class

Lol at your nephew Mel!

Peg too funny on can't be your best friend haha!

The only things Colby asked for from Santa was shoes, watch and trucks. He finally opened the shoes, said Santa brought me what I wanted!! And then threw the shoes to the side and yelled where are my trucks and watch!! Sorta funny lol!

Mil gave me an address book I asked for, and I really expected to find at least one address already written in there since she gives me things she's got around her house....but no addresses lol! Doesn't mean she bought it, just never used it,

ROFL Where's my watch and trucks? That is great. Jax was thinking each gift was the trucks he wanted. Of course I knew once he opened them he wouldn't open anything else, so I saved it for last and told him it was from his sister. He's still prett impressed that his sister gave him trucks.

nothing really tacky.......but i do love my redneck payphone danny got me for my kitchen.........

the kids were just overly excited......lucy and abby both yelled and cheered as if they had never gotten a new toy after every.single.gift they opened......i was shocked that the older kids were actually grateful, and appreciative of all they got.......they are usually the ones with complaints.......we already did our returns and exchanges, and are all put away(well, almost Wink )

abby and lucy both got what they had asked "santa" for when we actually saw santa.......so they were pretty stinkin impressed with the dude they sat with a couple weeks ago Smile

Tacky: My mom got a puzzle that forms an Elvis Presley plate - it has curved sides and everything, so you glue it as you go, and when you're done you're supposed to display it on a plastic plate stand. lol...It was on-purpose cheesy because my mom has always been an Elvis fan, and naturally most Elvis stuff is as tacky as you can get. It came from my uncle's partner - my mom is planning to make it and re-gift it to the giver on her birthday as a finished plate, lol!!!

So on Xmas eve, my Mom set up with her friends husband that we would call and he would pretend to be Santa. So we call and someone answers the phone, "Santa's sleigh" We ask for Santa and Miles talks to him for awhile. As soon as we hang up he starts talking about how he asked Santa for the "Toy Story County Landfill" (Which Santa came through on as he's been talking about it NON STOP) AND a "tin can set" and "kitchen set." I have NO FREAKING IDEA what either of these things are, he has never mentioned them before and NEVER mentioned them to Santa.

At some point on Xmas day he did have a meltdown because Santa didn't bring him the kitchen set or tin cans.:confused: I still have no idea what in the heck he's talking about.

He also declared the clothes "boring."

Tin can set? Head scratcher. We decided as a family that there will never be clothes as Xmas presents, they are never something the kids are thrilled over.

I love that phone and stool, Colleen. Definitely not tacky.

The chopping block boyfriend...predictably awkward, but a very social guy, so we had fun, just couldn't stop wondering if I'd ever see him again. I've never been one to have a boyfriend just to have someone rather than noone...but I think my SIL is that way. Plus she always seems to think there is someone else better out there...I call her a user. She went to the Yukon to visit the last guy and broke up with him while she was out there. She said how else was she going to see the Yukon? What a biatch.

Karina, I saw the pics you posted of Thanksgiving, and saw a comment by a woman that said something about 'I forgot it was Thanksgiving'. I immediately just 'knew' it was her. Am I right? I was totally laughing, like how in heaven's name can anyone 'forget' Thanksgiving?

You can borrow my child.. She thinks clothes are fantastic... as long as they're pretty dresses..

lol that's why santa brings the toys (the interesting stuff) and mom and dad give the clothes (the boring stuff) ...lol

and it will all change when they are teenagers and they don't believe in santa anymore....mom and dad will bring everything and it will be expensive Smile ...then they will like the clothes and if they don't they get to return them and pick out what they want...right now i call the shots ROFL

No tacky gifts that stuck out anyway. Can't think of anything. C did pretty well with being grateful but he got great gifts. The only thing he threw aside pretty quickly were the one box of clothes he got but I think everyone (gift giver included) expect that. All in all it was a great Christmas!

My DH is the kind of guy that he does not go down the feminine product aisle, wont touch the stuff, buy it for me, etc..

So my sister wrapped his gift cards in a box of tampons. She didnt empty the tampons out. DH turned like 20 shades of red because I think that is the first box of any feminine product he has ever touched........

LOL, no, that is a different SIL...my American one, who obviously celebrates Thanksgiving at a different time of year. She forgot it was Thanksgiving here because it is a month-and-a-half before she celebrates it.

Kristi, that is HILARIOUS!

I can't think of anything too tacky that made its way here this year. And I was actually really proud of both boys for being grateful for what they got and thanking everyone properly.

Nicholas did crack me up yesterday though. We were at the peds for William's 2 year check and of course the girl at the desk asked the boys about Christmas and William goes "Santa came!" of course she asked what he brought William says "choo choos" and Nicholas goes "I got socks!" He was the most impressed with everything in his stocking with a pair of Toy Story socks I grabbed in the dollar spot at Target and put in there. Kids. We spend all this money on toys and electronics for them and mine is happy with a pair of socks Wink

I got a framed picture of a bottle of whiskey. Yep. Just what I've always wanted. Apparently my BIL won it at some cigar shop and decided that maybe I could use the frame. We're having a tacky gift regifting party next month with MOMS Club and someone WILL be getting that picture!

Our kids did pretty well being appreciative, at least on the surface. Pax would thank the giver, throw the gift aside, and ask to open the next one if it was something he didn't care about.

Lol, these are great!

My DH gave me wrinkle cream in my stocking. Seriously?

The kids did great. They each got a couple of toys that are too old for them, so I've put them away...and of course, they keep asking for them.

LOL, these are hilarious.

Wrinkle cream in your stocking? I hope you told him your stocking doesn't have wrinkles, lol. And a picture of a bottle of whiskey...I can't even imagine where that should go, lol.

My mom gave DH rye flour for Christmas. Luckily, it came with the understanding that he can have more whenever he needs it - for some reason, rye flour is hard to find near where we live. He does bake a lot of bread, but it was still an odd gift.
