looking like a great day ahead, dh is staying home, there was supposed to be a big garage sale this weekend, spent the week prepping for it, then it got cancelled Sad community of over 1200 ppl and i was the only one who signed up AND wanted to follow through. of well at least it's all ready for when i do my at home one (eventually!) Smile bathroom reno is almost complete! our neighbour (yes we paid him!) took 2 weeks off work and helped us do a complete strip to frame and rebuild, including part of the frame work, electrical (certified buddy did that) plumbing (licensed buddy checked that) new tub and everything! after almost two weeks i should be able to shower tonight!!! sponge baths in the kitchen sink are no fun! bonus a quoted $16000 job came in at just under $3500!! there was a LOT wrong with that room!
heading out to fort ed park today to bum around and have a picnic, tom is swimming. the weather is beautiful and i'm in a good mood, can't ask for much more than that (besides the standard lottery request of course!)

Hi, Mara! I'm glad your migraine is gone and that you're all doing well! So glad you can use your shower and bathroom again. And that it gone done for a great deal!!

Just popping on quickly because Maia's about to wake from her nap. Got her a water table (it's a pirate ship!) and she's had a blast with it. Which is good because it's 90+ degrees outside. Yikes!

Hope everyone is well! And I do need crowns. I don't have any!! Wink

well hello there! haha every now and then this poor lonely brain cell pumps out a decent idea!!
hey you all know the truth about mommy brain right? well, a woman, strong, beautiful, intelligent, on top of her game, gets pregnant. hormones take over, and the brain cells decide it's alright to have a 9 month party up there. along comes the stress and strain of labour and delivery (however you had it happen it's stressful!) and all of a sudden we see through the fog and dust of the hormone party the one poor lonely brain cell, the wall flower, who refused to party in hopes that sanity would once again reign. this brain cell spent the 9 months cleaning what it could and soaking up all the knowledge from the other cells as they dropped. it stands up and looks around at the chaos and realizes that it's the ONLY ONE LEFT  well ladies let me tell you that poor brain cell gets darn tired somedays. so next time your spouse/child/boss/stranger on the bus looks at you like you've lost it, smile, nod your head to knock that brain cell on it's but, and reply "when you run around doing the work of 10 ppl on only one functioning super brain cell, that cell gets tired, no back off and let it sleep!"

Hi, Kristi! How are you?? Biggrin

Mara, I love it. ROFL So true and tooooo funny. How've you been??

We're doing okay. I think Maia's getting ready for potty training, but I"m not sure I"m ready. She's saying all kinds of sentences and just being so smart. I love hearing what's on her mind!

I'm going okay myself, just tired. I've been staying up too late and that needs to stop!

such a slow board lately Sad but i can see it the kids are getting so active and independent! this is my sanctuary time though, jump on the computer and just let my fingers do the talking, enjoy a minute of peace and quiet!

amanda - doing great here, bathroom rocks, jade's growing developmentally again, OMG the vocab coming out of her now, she talks away with ppl on the bus and they understand 90% of full paragraphs! we've learned to say to her 'slow down and try that again' instead of 'i don't understand' it seems to be helping a lot. i love her doc's comment at 2 yr check "she's not mumbling she just has too much to say and not enough mouth yet"! so far that does seem to be the case! LOVE the stuff they come out with! glad to hear things are well, yes sleep is important! potty training isn't so bad, just have to make it through the frustrating part of 'omg just do it already, i know you can' when they start taking control of things! remember, lots of receiving blankets got saved for something? this is it! wet pad of couch and bed are good ideas (they play and forget) don't be afraid to ground from certain furniture! we did that a few times, one accident on the couch and no more couch till the next day. jade's fully day time now and just waiting for her body to clue in for sleep time (she gets soo upset when she wakes up)

nope not friday yet kristi! sorry. well at least not for most ppl, dh's weekend is wed thurs so it's my friday!

This has just been a very tough week. DH is being a pill and it is almost like I have two 2 year olds at home and it is not cool, he is supposed to be the grown up. Between that and work and no vaction in sight I sort of feel like I am going to snap!

Alison is doing great though, she knows all her colors, talks in complete sentences and has been pooping on the potty! YAY!!!

Hope you ladies are having a good week! Happy Wednesday!

arg sorry kristi i thought i had responded on this but it seems i did not. sorry that things aren't going so great, big hugs and i hope it's getting better. last time things got bad like that around here i 'suddenly got a migraine' on his day off and had to sleep all day in a drug (my migraine pills) coma! haha once he got a full day taste of my life things got a little better, it also involved some evil pms style dark voice to get him to keep things out of the bedroom so i could sleep! hang in there, it will get better eventually!

that's awesome development!!! wtg alison for growing into such a big smart girl!!!

things are going pretty good here, myfitnesspal is rocking my life right now, doing jillian micheals 30day shred and i'm on 15 days in (one rest on day 11) staying on schedule and WOW i'm i feeling it! jade is soo cute 'mamma get smaller, i get bigger' and spotting me on the warm ups and i'm catching her playing with some of the moves into her normal play stuff! bear crawl, planks, knee circles! she's too cute! today we wrote a story and she's trying really hard to read! can't wait till the 20th when the new printer comes in so i can print off some of those trace pages for her to play with (she already likes doing them but i'm not that great at making them) and there's this pbs site that has printables and if you use a black marker and have a webcam it makes the object come to life (spell bee and a bee flies out of the page on the monitor!) just so much going on lately, swimming is rocking and she's starting to really push 'no momma' so i need to start pushing her teacher to help out (there's 2 classes left Sad ) may be looking into a private instructor if she keeps this up, during the class as long as she is doing something that she can touch i don't even exist, she follows the teacher and moves all by herself, last weekend she went and got the noodle herself (as per instruction) and took off swimming with it! i had to go catch her!

Hi ladies!

Kristi, that's too bad :/ Sometimes when Robb is holed up in the bedroom due to a migraine he's like my 3rd 2 year old too. haha

Mara - do you find your migraines changed with the pressure in the air? When we were living in Calgary, Robb was getting a migraine a week, and here he's nearly getting 3 a week, so we're moving back to Vancouver where he had maybe 3 the whole year we were living there! Because the pressure is a lot more steady.

Only 5 weeks until we move, unless his contract gets extended. I can't wait to get out of here and back to civilization!

The twins are so far behind. I had a complete meltdown yesterday, thinking I was a horrible mom for playing too much TV for them, etc. I was crying so much that Spark joined in and we cried together on the couch for nearly 15 minutes. She's so sweet. I love them so much. So, today we sold our TV and that's that! All we do now is play play play, and I feel great for it. Silas will always be behind Spark, but there's not much we can do about that. He's still surprising us sometimes. Robb was helping him walk up the stairs and said "Well done!" and Silas immediately said "wh-don!" I was so surprised and happy I nearly fell down the stairs! lol He has gone from 10 words down to none, and for him to actually imitate sounds is huge!

Spark is getting more words every day, and I keep trying to help her string some together but she's just not quite there yet. She knows how to sit on her potty, and sometimes she picks it up and says "pee? pee?" but hasn't used it yet. I think she thinks the potty is called "pee" lol Persistence is the key I guess! Her new favourite word is Daddy? and she's always looking around for her daddy... and so excited when she finds him!

thanks for letting me talk! I'm far away from crowns though lol

Hi, gals! I hope everyone is doing well. We're doing pretty well. We had a layoff scare where both DH and I work a few weeks back but we seem to have made it, thankfully. Other than that we haven't had too much excitement. Maia is talking more and more everyday, and I love to hear what she has to say. She has become a Blue's Clue's fanatic. I used to watch that when it first came out with these kids I babysat...one of whom is now 17 and was my cashier at the grocery the other day. I'm feeling old. LOL But whenever Maia sees a pawprint now she says, "A clue! A clue!" ROFL

Kristi, I hope things have calmed down for you after having had that bad week. I know what you mean about DH being like an extra kiddo sometimes. Do you have any vacation coming up? I hope you can rest!

Mara, glad you're doing so well! Awesome job on the shred. I miss our BL challenge! I know you're kicking butt! And awesome job, Miss Jade!! She will be reading before you know it. Keep up the awesome work!

Kim, great to hear from you! I'm so glad the little ones are doing well. You are NOT a horrible mom! :bigarmhug: I cannot even IMAGINE two two-year-olds. You are my hero. There are days when I sit down and cry, too. I am glad you're feeling better today. That's awesome that Silas is piping up now, too! And Spark seems like she lives up to her name!

I miss you ladies and the babies! Any new little ones in our midst? I can tell you for sure there is not at our house. LOL!!!

Thanks amanda, that's sweet of you. :vibes:

All moms have it tough in their own way. I'm slowly realizing that I put in my best effort, and it doesn't matter if other moms can do "better" than me with twins, it just matters what I do, and I do my best.

I'm glad you both still have work. That must have been pretty scary! We're moving in a month and are still looking for work on the other end... :/ We haven't played Blue's Clues for the twins, but Spark loves Pocoyo, and even with the TV gone, she still points to where it used to be and says "yoyoyo? yoyoyoyoyo?" lol I'm glad it's gone.

No more babies for me! If I could get a hysterectomy I would, but it's easier (and cheaper) for Robb to get a vasectomy.

Hello ladies. Sorry I have not been around much. Alison is doing great. She amazes me every day. However me and DH...not doing so hot. I am fairly certain that he will be moving out for awhile to stay with his parents. So things are a little crazy but I am trying to keep things as normal for Alison as possible.

I hope the rest of you are having a good Monday!!!!

Oh, Kristi, I'm sorry to hear that things are rough with you and DH!! I hope you're doing okay. :bigarmhug: Good luck. And I'm so glad that Alison is her amazing self!!

Kim, Maia likes Pocoyo too. She likes the duck. LOL Good luck on your move and I hope you can get everything situated on the other end. Are you excited for the change??

We're doing okay today. But it is going to be 100 degrees today and the next few days. DISLIKE. And we're all a little snotty because the temps dipped way lower earlier in the week. gaaaaaaah.

hey ladies! WOW sorry i've been so MIA lately. 30 day shred rocked! i lost 3.5 lbs and 3.6 inches total(neck, chest, upper arms, hips, waist, thighs)!! going to start 6 week 6 pack tom morning! jade's excited to start new exercises with me! she seems to be getting the idea that she is healthy now and has a healthy body but she needs to keep it that way but staying healthy! lots of fruits and veggies (her not so much me yet but i'm getting there!) and keep active! as for the learning… grandma bought her a 2 yr sub to ABCmouse.com (99$ if done as a gift!) and it's SOOOOOO cool!! i want to set an account just for me to play with all the games and stories and songs and learning and printouts and the fish tank and the hamster! it's a full curriculum preschool, prek and kindergarten starting with 'toddler time' ages 2-6 and she loves it! right now she's learning stuff she already knows but it's to teach her how to use the computer (mouse first then keyboard later) so she has confidence and can learn the stuff she doesn't know!
finally got the dog house built so honeysuckle is outside only now! no more cleaning up poop! jade's only in pullups (aka princess panties) for nap and bed still and getting better all the time with that, just waiting for her body to catch up to her now and wake her up before she pee's.
just had a visit with my bff (some of you may remember the fun we have!) and we took the girls to build a bear, well 'teddy' has now joined the family with 'Ceebee' from her birthday! her imagination has really taken off since the first time each those stuffies came home and played dress up! i never thought it was possible to literally see the imagination turn on but it was seriously like a like switch the second i put on the first shirt! something about seeing them do something that she does (okay we had just gotten jade dressed too) clicked!

kim - nope the migraines ended up being a boob thing mostly and a hormone thing secondly, breast reduction before i got preg stopped the one and the hormone (af) i just learn to anticipate, up the protein, water and reduce the sodium and it seems to be helping a lot. LOL not grooving the isolation huh?!! from what i've been following they are not that far behind the norm around here, paperwork we get shows 2 word sentences between 2-3 yrs and around 50 words total and it sounds like they are on an upward track and you are doing everything you can with them! jade did the backtrack with words too and after about 2-3 months of wondering about her i can't shut her up now! that's great that the potty is in play too, i know a few 3 year olds that still sit on it but won't use it, some kids get different things at different times! keep up the great work with them!

amanda - glad the layoff was just a scare and nothing more! LOL jade's just discovered toopy and binoo, i don't really look forward to blue's clues since i don't like the guy! yep i hate those 'old' moments! talking with the teenage niece about Y2K and she had no clue what i was talking about! she was born in 1999! i miss the blc group but myfitnesspal is so much more focused (and we're just missing you now! lol!) no new ones here either, dh got snipped june after jade was born!

kristi - EEK big hugs hun that's never an easy thing to have to deal with, good for you for trying to keep some calm and normal for alison, at least at this age they are really resilient to changes, okay sometimes thats an eventually but better than teenagers are! hang in there and know that you are a good person!

that's awesome kristi!!! i know she'll do great! jade should be starting another round july 16, it's gonna be a killer though as it's 5 days a week for two weeks  ! but there is only one other kid registered so far so the director promised more instruction for jade to start preping her for super 3's next year. have fun and be prepared to sing the songs in the bath too! jade still asks for songs every couple nights! lol!!
things are going okay here, jade has decided that she doesn't like my new workout (6 week 6 pack) as it's too long (35 min) so i will only be doing it on days dh is home Sad but the back to 30 day shred just because she'll let me do it! (20 min) tom is my 33 bday! thinking i don't even want cake, just a pack of mini cupcakes. and of course it's shopping day!! love shopping day!

Swimming lessons were a huge hit!!! She loved it and so did I...it was a lot of fun...although our class was cut a bit short because one of the big kids (and by big kid I am talking like an 8 year old) had an accident in the pool so everyone had to get out! But all in all, it was fun. Met some nice moms and really cute kids. Class again tonight! Can't wait!!!

Celebrated the 4th of July yesterday, just a small BBQ at our house. So hard to act like a normal woman around DH's family when everything is falling apart. But all in all it was a good day.

kristi that's awesome!!! so glad you both enjoyed it! sucks about the 'mess' in the pool that's never a fun one to deal with.
big hugs for hanging in there and trying to have a good time yest. it was an odd one for me too, my birthday has never been a 'celebration' since i was a little kid, something always taints it at the last minute, nothing big yest just cranky dh (that time of the month i think! lol!) and nothing special other than my fav shopping with no price cap just a list to acquire! and no kid!!! watched Mirror, mirror with dh after jade went down and he perked up a little. REALLY good movie!! laughed and oooh'd the whole time! neat twist on the norm with good comedy mixed in.

so far today hasn't been bad, beautiful out, dh is still working through some cranky but he's trying. got the trims first coat painted for jade's room. jade and daddy picked it out a while ago and both keep insisting so i bought the colours! now to get them on the walls, ceiling and trim! we are putting new trim around her ceiling since i prefer that finished edge (just a 1/4 round oak nothing special) hoping sil will come help out
this is not her room but a program, these are the colours though! grey carpeting

have a great one all!

I can't wait to see the finished room!! I am still trying to make Alison's room into a big girl room...she still has her baby stuff hanging on the walls. Time for a change!

I hear you about cranky DH's...although I just don't talk to mine....but that is a whole other story! We are keeping things civil for Alison and she is all that really matters.

well room painting has been put on hold Sad now it's TOO hot to do it! oh well, got the new black ceiling fan up that should match in nicely with the dark blue ceiling paint, eventually! 30+ temps (cel) is not cool, pun intended. it's miserable here, even the breeze is warm. the dog is playing with the sprinkler, we set the pool up yest and the second the dog was off her run she jumps and started splashing around in it! mind you she's collie/husky so i can only imagine how freaking hot she is right now. just keeping her water cool and fresh, turn the sprinkler on for a little bit for her (jade doesn't like it! so it's just for the dog!) and try not to engage play to hard while still keeping her engaged and not bored!
my tan is rocking this year! despite the mass quantities of sunscreen that we go through, even jade has a nice farmers tan! and i finally convinced dh to take some sunscreen to work to apply before he does his 1/2 hour walk home each day, his neck is starting to burn and i can see the tan sock line through his leg hair! think old man funny, all he's missing is the sandals!
jade is enrolled in swimming again, july 16, mon-fri for two weeks  but sil is leaving thurs and promised me the car while they are gone, if i'm in a bad mood wed night you'll know how it went! otherwise i have to have jade to the pool every morning by 10:30 (on deck) and still try and get my workout in (an hour including shower and dress) so it should be interesting, but the new director seems nice enough, the life guards really like her and the fact that she listens to them this time! so even they said to make sure to point out jades abilities and requirements and with only 3 kids in the class this time i might get some instruction! most have taught the super 3's so just going to tell them she's been referred, she needs to be prepped for it! (ie the non parent part!)
all in all things are going well here, hot, moody, maintaining things as best as possible keeping in mind the heat! housework is piling up enough to keep me busy the first cool day we get! and the BBQ calls me tonight for pork chops. last night was sandwiches!

You guys are my heros! I could never go to swim lessons. I hate water. haha But I'm thinking of taking lessons myself this fall if we have the money... mostly for fitness, but also, I don't want to be scared of water anymore, so learning to swim would help I think!

Mara - Love the colours! It must feel great to be able to paint and change whatever you want in your new house :vibes:

Silas is not a fan of his diapers anymore. I'm going through so many a day. It's insane. He'll pee in his diaper, then take it off. But then a minute later he'll pee on the floor. So I try to put a diaper on him, but he HATES diapers He will kick and scream and turn around and it takes all my strength to get a diaper on him, but I restrain because I don't want to hurt him... When I catch him peeing on the floor, I take the potty and sit him down on it. I hope he gets the point soon because our floor is now covered in wet spots!!

okay so i was sure i posted on here the other day but i guess not!

kim - dh is really bad around water too, towel in the shower and all, he can't get his face wet without starting a panic attack (some bad experiences with water and almost drowning) but he's working on it for jade's sake and doing really good and he made me promise that she wouldn't be afraid! that's part of why we started her so early. there's actually been a few parents in the classes that are afraid of water and used the parent and tot class to get comfortable themselves while teaching their kids to have fun with it! i think some classes for you would be a great idea!! good luck with the potty training, it's not easy the first little while! def sounds like he's ready for it! tips to take or ignore that worked for me, smarties are awesome motivators and now use natural colouring (not that they are healthy but i think that's the point for them!), big stack of receiving blankets on hand are great for quick cleans (and it was something i was used to washing anyways!), oxy clean is your friend if there's any carpet! it's pricey but well worth it (failing that, a little sunlight liquid dish soap and hot water, carpet messes is the only time i ever buy this one, for some reason it works the best!), patience, try and watch for a pattern in timing, then set a little clock, jade got the promise of a smartie if she tried when 'potty timer' went off, i started with 20 min then moved it from there. we had special toys and a special potty book that we used when she was doing her 'try' time, and what seems to be a unanimous help, make sure all 'diaper station' items are in the bathroom, so that all changes, garbage etc happen in the bathroom. jade's messes moved closer and closer to the potty when i did this, as have a few friends! big help for us was the sign language, it was one of the first ones we taught her
http://www.aslpro.com/cgi-bin/aslpro/aslpro.cgi we just used the first part of the word 'potty'.

well jade's room is almost done!!! just have to do first coat on the walls then cut and coat for round two and it's done!!!! so far so good it looks nice. there's a nice new black fan that blends with the ceiling colour, the pink OMG it's pink! glad her sheets are purple to help offset! but that's what they both requested over and over! should have pics for you in a couple days! the weather here is sooo weird. we had a lightening storm that even dh had never seen and he's born and raised here! it was a 360 degree lightening show, non stop for over 2 hours! the thunder knocked the power out for a couple minutes, and my little weather witch… slept through the whole thing without even a twitch! dog freaked out though! working hard on staying cool, making sure i eat, and getting my workouts in while it's cool in the morning. it gets hard to eat enough when it's that hot out, we hit 33+ a couple days and we don't have ac in the house.
have a great one ladies and i hope everyone is having a good summer so far!

alright momma's! since i know some of you are not on my fb here's the cell phone pics i snapped yest after finishing the painting!! there's still a few little touch ups to do (over the closet, window sill, and one or two spots on the baseboard) but nothing that can't wait till wed/thurs. waiting two weeks for it to set before adding back the wall decorations and pictures, i hate when things get put up to early and years later they end up stuck and make a mess taking them down!!
we are thinking purple rapunzel blanket for her bed, princess light pulls for the new fan, and a new curtain rod!

Hi, ladies. Our a/c went out in a storm last night. The home warranty company is saying if it was a lightning strike that they won't pay for it, but I don't think it was lightning. No other appliances were harmed and I think we would have heard that, don't you? I guess we'll know more on Monday when they come to look at it. Until then we have a portable a/c and I went out at lunch to buy a window unit. ugh. Wish us luck.

Maia's doing pretty well. We went to the zoo a week ago and she loved it. She's talk, talk, talking and it's soooo cute. Her new favorite phrase is "Hey, guys. What's up??" She finally had her 2 year well check this past Monday. 32 pounds and 37 inches tall. The doctor said I have a 2 year old with a 3 year old's body on my hands and "Good luck, Momma". LOL!!! I think we have some tall gals in our April group!

I hope all is going well for you gals!

Kristi: Sounds like Alison is doing great! Hope all is well with you!

Kim: Oh no!! I'm sorry your little guy is weeing everywhere! Awesome that he's figuring out his bladder but eeeek to all the wee!! Good luck, Momma!!

Mara: The room looks great! Love the pics! Oh, no, are you without a/c, too?? I hope you can get it fixed. It's too hot for that! I love your Jade updates on FB. She is such a love!!

Cheryl: Hey, gal! How are you and the little ones?

wow active ladies around here! lol!! glad there are a few that still check in, i like having other april moms to talk with!
swimming is going so great! i love the new director at the pool, if you take the time to work with her she is showing that she's more than willing to take the time to work too!! for those not on fb, she got in the pool by herself today following the instructor instead of mommy! she put her whole head under to pick up the toys! and she's getting a lot better at swimming away from mommy with the teachers! all major progress, we bought her goggles! her treat for next set of lessons (not sure but maybe fall?) will be to take her uncle (the triathlete who isn't really big on this side of the family but is trying, ps SIL's hubby!) will be fancy new goggles from a specialty store that actually fit properly! not easy to get good goggles this size! the director came on deck today specifically for jade and i, talked with me about what i think, and what she's doing with the instructors and then stayed and watched jade… looks like she may be reconsidering early admission for super 3's, the life guards said it does happen once in a blue moon for special cases and they all think jade fits! i'm so proud of my little fish can you tell!!
not having a great day, af is sucking out my will to live peacefully! i burst into tears when dh got home and jade informed him that mommy needed a hug! then the two of them took a few minutes and made me laugh! they are so wonderful!
house is still standing and not flooding with all the rain we've had. her 'digdig' step 2 sand/water table was empty, it overflowed in two days of rain
workouts are going great, made week 3 of ripped in 30 yest. then took the day off today Sad af sucks, have i mentioned that?! it seems i failed to share with you ladies that i am in 14's now and bought some new bathing suits!! giant tiger $3 each piece or $10 for one piece, well i jumped in and got a spaghetti strap tankini, and today i wore it! in public!! felt so good! looking forward to a weigh and measure on monday (if i remember!) diet hasn't been the greatest lately but it's in progress, lol!

cherie - thanks and LOL! yeah i'll get right on that, when i get around to finishing jades little touch ups! haha, hoping to finish it on sunday, then wall decorations can go up next sat/sun.

amanda - 37 inches wow! yep some tall april girls for sure! jade's at 3 feet 1 inch (37.2 inches?) not sure on weight at the moment though, need to get her in for a check one of these days! sorry about the ac, those company's can be mean, i pay a little extra on my insurance to cover the 'act of god' stuff, like flooding, and electrical shorts due to storm. good luck getting that fixed and don't let them push you around, if you know any full tech that can second opinion, get it just in case they want to fight! ours just is too much hassle to put in the window, and it's too small anyway, so we make do with fans. this place thankfully isn't too bad during the day since the furnace has a cool air intake (from outside in the shade!) that will blow all day if i want so that helps, and there's ceiling fans over each bed. love the language explosions! jade has started playing with sounds, pinching her lips with her fingers and talking, making different sound effects while talking… it sucks because you can't understand her then she gets frustrated because she thinks she's being funny!

HEPL!!!!! omg the screeching must stop. jade still will not get out of bed when she wakes up, that's the only reason she's still in pull ups for sleep is that she refuses to get out of bed. now in the beginning that was a good thing because it meant easier transition for me to toddler, and no climbing in the crib. now though it's getting annoying! the last week she has taken to screeching for me to let me know she's up instead of the previous normal calls and giggles. we've been telling her for a couple weeks now that she is allowed to get up, especially if she has to go potty, she can come and wake me up, and she can crawl in with me if it's not wake up time yet (she's usually up the first time around 6:30am so that's not bad) but this screeching wakes me up in a foul mood. today at nap i let her screech! i just stepped out back wit the windows open so i could still hear her and if she opened her door. it wasn't until she had to poop that she panicked and came out! seriously though it's making me mad and i hate getting mad at her. this seems to be her terrible two stuff, pushing momma's buttons to see how long it takes to make me yell (which i might add is quite a bit, we don't like yelling in this house) when i'm actually mad i get quiet but to get the point across sometimes i have to 'pretend' mad just to get her to clue in! the shock of the volume seems to work since we are normally a quiet household, but i really hate doing it.

just needed to vent that to someone who might get it.
how's everyone else doing with the terrible two's?

Oh, no, Mara! I'm sorry I missed this post. Has it gotten any better? Maia shrieks often, but only at play...she hasn't figured out the screaming for me from her room yet (and can I hope that'll never happen? Because that would be great. LOL) The twos are a mixed bag. On one hand, she's SO adorable with the words and things she can do, but the power-plays and unpredictable nature of it all... well, whew! I'm worn out at bedtime, let's just say that. LOL

lol amanda things are getting better, now she has the getting up thing down and it's the battle to 'stop' stalling at bedtime! just because she knows she can sit on the potty and talk with us when she has to poop she thinks it's a great 'stall' although when asked 'no mommy not stalling, i have to pooooop' so now we are working on that, i need to find that 'awake time' clock i saw, the outer ring glows a different colour (at a parent set time!) when it's wake up time!
Baby Toolkit: Toddlers See the Light:Teach Me Time! Clock Makes Mornings Easier
this thing is too cool!
i hear you on all that two year stuff. somedays you want to eat them up and throw them out at the same time! language explosion again is awesome, she's rambling in full paragraphs now! and sometimes i want to laugh so hard because her brain goes so fast that she stumbles on the words and you 'mommadadda i wanna, i wanna, iwanna that you can …' 'deep breathe hun' *sigh* 'i wanna …. insert thought finally spit out!' HA!
starting today, we are working on sleep potty training now that she'll get out of bed, we have a deal that mommy won't have to buy any more 'princess bums' and the bag i have is over half empty.
her abcmouse lessens are going great! picked her up a new mouse that's just her size (it's a travel one with retractable cord!!) and she's learning the point and click and drag now, 7 more lessens and she's out of the toddler lessens and into the preschool stuff! she's learning to read with it and all kinds of things, it's such an awesome program i can't say enough! (ps if you look into it, go as a gift subs it's only $99 for two years! huge difference!)
she's getting good on the trampoline, and blowing bubbles and walking on her balance beam (an old 4x4 post!)

amanda i'm hoping that the bedtime screeching never happens! jade's was because she wouldn't get out of bed, so crossing fingers that you get to skip that one!!

oh and i forgot about round two separation anxiety: jade discovers the concept that CAN leave. not that i ever do but somehow she is now cognitively aware of the fact and i'm getting all kinds of 'your the best mommy in the whole world''your sooo special' and then the tears side 'don't leave mommy''you'll find another baby and never come back''you won't love me anymore' arg! i like some of the attention and affection but seriously the cling that goes with it is a bit much somedays! work away from home moms just go through this earlier but ALL kids do it apparently! so we are working on mommy going out from time to time (shopping and whatnot) and showing her that yes i do leave but i do come back!

OH HOH OOH and just now i had to pause to help them get ready to go to the park (dh home on civic holiday) AND JADE PUT ON HER SANDALS ALL BY HERSELF!!!!! they are double velcro sandals that always need to be adjusted to put on and take off and she did it all by herself!!! and now she's off to the park where, no word of a lie, she teaches 4 year olds how to climb on the equipment and go down and up the slide in all the ways she's not supposed to! like on her tummy or knees, or just walking up it Sad lol daddy takes her there for a reason! mommy is too strict to let her just be a kid! daddy isn't!

How are y'all keeping your tall gals in their rooms at night?? Maia finally defeated the boggler and climbed over the baby gate!! I'm guessing we're going to have to go with two gates to keep her in there?? This morning she climbed out at almost 5:30 a.m.... I can't have a toddler running around unsupervised in the dark!! Help!!

um right now? very carefully and with little sleep sometimes!!! little miss jade has finally figured out that she can get out of bed and open her door, and there's no where that i can put the gate now since i painted and patched all the spots where it was! so mostly it's a lot of explaining about bedtime and wake up time, wishing i had the $60+ for that super cool 'wake up' clock that glows a different colour when the parents say it's okay (preset by parents!!) and trusting that she's good enough to keep coming to our room first before wandering the rest of the house! TOTALLY getting sick of the 5-6:30am wake ups! i miss my good little bug that would sleep till 8!! oh well i couldn't be that lucky forever! lol! honestly though, for now it's more about training her to come and get us before anything else. so far so good, she's been wandering straight to our room, then she'll follow the trail of where else we might be (if we aren't there) computer room, living room, back door. my biggest fear right now is that she's figured out the fridge!

hey ladies! been a bit but that's all good! as for me, rocking the weight loss (check that new ticker!) and down to size 12 jeans!!! jade's growing great, slowly now but i see a spurt on the near horizon again. she had her first eye appt yes, just routine check. got her started early just like the dentist so she gets used to it before a prob arrises. it was great, she only had to do the 'stare at the farm house' one where it goes in and out of focus (they don't blow the air puff till much older!) then instead of alphabets like we have, he had shapes, planes, cake, hands, easy stuff in different sizes!! still did the light in her eye but she sat still for the whole thing like a champ! he said she has a small farsight issue but it's so small that right now it's no biggy, she may be looking at glasses in the future though. the whole family wears them so i'm not surprised! just happy that i'm on the ball a little more than my parents and so far so good she's not traumatized by any of it! my parents were a 'wait till there's a problem then see the doc' style and when there's a problem you never want to see that doc again usually!
she has officially figured out the back screen door. is starting to like dress up more and more. and my irk for the week, she's started pee'ing her panties again? but i think it may have to do with her being sick all week, energy level roller coaster and it's right at a crash that it happens. not big mess just panties, but still. sleep is getting better again, back to 7 instead of 6am wake ups!
lots of the same old same old going on here otherwise.
hope you are all having a good one!!!

Where is everyone? haha Ours is one of the only 3 2010 boards left! It's like no one comes here anymore.... what's up with that!

We've been using the door handle safetly things - SUPPOSEDLY made so that little hands can't open the door.... yeah, that lasted about a week before they figured it out!! Now they go wherever they please. Although at night they are good about staying in their room.

We are all moved and settled in. Our apartment turned out to be a major disappointment. It was great to have a place but MAN. There's no fire/sound barrier between us and the people upstairs, so we hear everything, even then talking, and ESPECIALLY their 2 kids and 2 noisy dogs banging around. Not just running, mind you, but actually banging things on the floor. Their dogs aren't socialized so they bark at every little thing. Not to mention the electrical isn't up to code and the dryer? It vents into the WALL. That's not safe. The whole apartment isn't safe!! So we're moving ASAP. Thankfully we didn't sign a lease! My brother is coming to stay with us, so we are looking at getting a house. With a YARD! That would be awesome!!

Also, I signed up for Watkins. I love it. My mom's cousin is doing it too, so I signed up with her and she is helping me out. What I absolutely love is that there is SO much training. I've been reading for the past 3 hours and I've barely put a dent in! I like knowing that I can just read and read and know what to do, instead of having to ask so many questions and not get any answers.

I hope you are all doing well. The twins aren't really growing that much lol but we did go to a play group at another mom's house. It was awesome. She had a bunch of indoor play equipment. Basically the whole basement was a play area (and bigger than our whole apartment at the moment!!) The twins had fun and so did I. Spark fell down some stairs, but she was okay... gave me a heart attack though!

ttyl ladies! :vibes:

yep this board is pretty quiet and the whole site is getting quiet. too many changes and glitches i think.
haha those handles have always been the worst waste of money i've found! parents have more trouble with them than the kids! good to hear they are being good at night though, jade just figured out that she can get out of her room and out of bed and now we struggle to get her down some nights, she gets up too early, and recently she's started wandering the house instead of coming to get us first. good thing the door gets closed so i hear her play with the door first and it wakes me up. it is fun to lay there 'asleep' and listen and watch where she goes before she comes to wake me up!
eep i hated that about apartments, we had the same noise problem at the last place we were. as for the electrical and dryer, um yeah vacate asap! that's awesome about getting a house to share with your brother! the kids are going to love that!!!
watkins is awesome! i tried it but had no customers so i couldn't keep up with it. their vanilla is the best! and i've had the good mexican stuff!
no worries about the kids, they will catch up in their own time, they are doing great. wtg on a playdate sounds like a blast! lol yep they tend to fall and we tend to skip a beat!

as for us things are going okay, jade's molars are pushing again, um yeah the 6 year molars Sad not looking forward to the next couple years if this is going to be a trend. she's pushing boundaries again, and mood is kinda all over. my friend likes to tease me that two is nothing three is worse, it's two with intent!! knowing her girl, yep i can see that and i'm scared!
jade's newest favourite development push is being independent. when i need to go to the store i frequently hear, 'you stay home i'll go by myself, i won't get taken and i won't get lost' LOL yeah right kid, you're two i'm not letting you go to the store by yourself yet! but it does freak me out for when she's older! if she's pushing for this now…!!!
not much else new, dh may be going part time after 5 years, but he's top dog part time and there's a ton of full time listings out (they are restructuring staff and culling the list at the same time) so hopefully won't be an issue. i'm down to size 12 jeans! first time since i was about 15 yrs old! MFP is an awesome helpful site! and my house is clean at the moment so i can enjoy the next two days off (dh's days off so he's home!)

Hello Ladies! Been so long, thought I'd check in Smile Today is Andy's first day back to school, grade 6 and that makes him a senior this year. He was excited to go, I bet that excitement has already passed lol Jack goes to his "meet the teacher" on friday then has his first day on the 11th. Should be interesting...He's been wanting to go to school for the last year and he wants to take the bus so it should be good. But you know, Mommy and Daddy worry. Daisy is doing great, she's 2yrs 5mths, 28lbs and 90cm. She really is a joy to have. Her latest funny is after singing a song, lifting the back of her hair up in the air and saying "thank you, thank you", we figured out that she was lifting her hair because she wasn't wearing a hat to take off and bow lol from Max and Ruby and the Magician lol funny girl.
My divorce is official on Sep 8th. Although I'm excited, we've been separated for 7yrs, I moved on long ago and haven't felt married to him in a long time. Nice to have it official though. Took so long because of idiot ex making things difficult but I pushed thru and got it done. And now John and I are looking at rings.
Other than that, nothing much to report. Looking forward to having one at home during the day as of next week. Haven't had just one around for quite some time. Hoping to get my butt back into weightloss gear Wink OH and I'm 40 lol. I'd like to spend the rest of this year pushing forward with neccessary changes. The only thing I didn't accomplish on my Fit for 40 plan was to attain a healthier weight, so that will be my main focus.
Hope everything is well with you all!

so how did first day go for all the school munchkins!? cherie curious to see how jack did! wtgrow daisy!!! HAHA!! jade does the arms across the tummy bow 'thank you thank you' !!! these kids are too cute! we have no idea where she got it from since i haven't caught a show that's done it, maybe daddy when he does something? we don't know!
WOOHOO for finale! and rings??!!! now i'm excited for you! well even more so!! i know you can do the weight thing! rock it like you know how hun!
as for us… not much new going on. still waiting to hear on the full time thing, all the paperwork for the change isn't until the 23rd so hopefully soon we'll know. my fitness goals continue to move in the right direction! i'm currently wearing a pair of shorts that didn't fit, so my 13 yr old neice wore them a few weeks ago (she didn't pack enough for her sleep over here) and now they fit! not as well as they did on her but they fit! jade is sooo excited for snow! i told her the other day it's now fall since it's cold and summer seems to have left early, she jumped up and did a happy dance! that means halloween and then SNOW! and then fell down and started making 'snow angels' on the carpet! total daddy's girl on that end, i hate winter! they are both excited for the snow since she has a new slide with a fort under it (big plastic one) and i suggested leaving it out in the middle and using it as the base and framework for the snow hill and fort this year (i hate the idea of a fort that can collapse on her) and they both love the idea!
SOO excited myself for the zellers closures, the close mall (like 13-20 min bus ride) is now WALMART!!! no more bumming rides to get there since it's an hour + and two bus each way trip normally! and they have the rapunzel costume for less than the disney store and the other walmart didn't have it! jade wants daddy to be maximus! we're debating that or flynn! and i get to be mother gothel since i should fit her dress nicely this year!! not sure where we're going out this year since we're staying home but we'll figure it out. meanwhile i'm crocheting her a winter hat that is rapunzel hair, and the braid will be a scarf built into the hat! so far she loves it.

wow so now that this is a novel i should sign off! hope everyone is doing well. what are your halloween plans?

Hi, ladies!! Long time, no chat!! Is anyone going through a 2 year sleep regression?? I am so done with sleep regressions. I thought that monster 18 month one was the last one. Sadly... blah. Not a fan.

But I can tell that there's a purpose to it because Maia is soooo talkative and such a little girly girl now. All into princesses and fairies and dressing up--all over night, it seems!

For Halloween she has a Tinker Bell costume, but I'm hoping to be Stevie Nicks and I want her to be my white-winged dove, so we'll see.

Miss you gals and hope you're all well and the babies--toddlers--too!!

sleep hasn't been the issue here, it's the tragedy of the concept of getting into bed! 'NOO it's not bedtime yet' lol! she just has too much fun, or so she'll tell you! hopefully this is the end of our current round of 'evil jade' that time when something new is happening or her stupid 6 yr molars are bugging again (yep they are already driving us nuts Sad can't wait to see what the dentist says in two weeks!) and her whole personality flips 180 and evil jade happens for about 2 weeks. last night got so bad that i put the baby gate up and locked her back in her room at bedtime. today has actually been really good! hoping that the gate put the point in place that mommy went passed that breaking point!

can't wait for halloween! we were going to do the family theme rapunzel but can't quite swing mother gothel and jade hasn't made up her mind whether daddy is maximus or flynn! either way not going to happen i think. but i have made her hair, it's a crochet winter hat with three big braids that double as scarf that wraps around, and two little braids that double as mitten strings! my friend is making some flowers that will button on! have her dress already. she's so excited, we are staying home this year so it should be interesting.

omg vocabulary explosion again! my current favourite is from little Einsteins, 'i can not believe it!' with the cutest tone! and i think we've hit the treacherous 3's as it seems she has learned intent and purpose in her 'arguments/deals' 'no mommy i want this because…' or 'that's not a good deal mommy, let's try this...'

and with that crash i should go and see what just happened! lol daddy's home!

WOOT!!! i think i've cracked the evil jade conundrum! dehydration!! she's like me and usually drinks lots of water, like 2-4 of her straw cups worth. about two months ago she slowed down and was barely drinking one. bungs her up and became the battle to get her to drink her water. well about two days ago she found her fav purple one and has been averaging 2-4 cups a day again! attitude has done an about face and she's almost back to normal well behaved good girl!!! *phew* now if i can only remember that next time, check water intake first!

Hi, Mara! Oh, my SIX YEAR molars!! yikes!!! That is so scary. I'm sorry she's been evil Jade over it, but I'm glad you found the solution. That's awesome!! And I love her new phrase. Soooo cute! Maia is still having sleep troubles and I don't know if she's having night terrors or if this is just the regression or both or what. She also has a bit of a cold and is a major drama queen so maybe she's just reacting to that. No fever, just leaky nose and congestion. I hate this time of year for that, the allergies/sinus problems.

I'm hoping there's a ray of hope in here for us soon. I'm tired of being sick, having a sick toddler, and just feeling blah. I need cheering up!!

We are totally going through sleep problems right now. It's insane. A couple months ago Silas took to KICKING the door, and not stopping until we come in. I would just ignore him (as much as I can ignore a jackhammer!!) but we are living in a duplex and there are people next door... one sleeps during the day, so there are ALWAYS people sleeping here. They seem to be getting better - I think it's a food thing. They sure are showing signs of growth spurts, as they need a ton to eat all of a sudden and Spark is absolutely NUTS if she is hungry!! Every 10 seconds she starts another fit, and screams and screams and screams. I can't stand it. Even 15 minutes after feeding her, she's hungry again and really is the crankiest little fit-throwing girl. Such drama!!

Other than that though, they are both mimicking a TON more, especially Silas!! Which makes me so happy. Every little thing I say he says it back as best he can, and he is learning SO fast. He tries to count to 20, and it's so cute "nn-tee, nn-tee, sehun-tee, tehny!" I never thought he'd talk this much! At least not this early! :vibes:

As for me, I am down 8 pounds since we moved back to Vancouver and it feels great!

Hi guys. Just popped by, so fun to read your updates. Katie is finally starting to talk more, still not sentences, but she gets her point across... Mama, T (TV) NOW! We've been working on saying "please" instead of saying "NOW". Lol

We had to switch daycares at the end of Sept and that was a transition, but very happy with the new place and I think it will be good for her and DS.

DS started Kindergarten this year, and at school everything is great, at home is another story. I think he's working so hard at being good all day that he just has to let it all out at home. A lot of crying and yelling, but I try to give him a chance to correct himself before punishing, because I feel like he can't be perfectly behaved all the time at age 5. I also make sure that I get him enough time outside to play, and that helps a lot if he can get some energy out. There is no recess at kindergarten, which is a shame that they have to spend all their time on academics, they are still so young!

Overall, that's how things are going here. Hope you all have a great halloween!

PS: anyone that is looking for a baby gift, I found this giveaway online and there are not too many replies yet, so you'd have a good chance of winning!

Great to hear from you!! Glad to hear the kiddos are doing well. I cannot believe there is no recess in kindergarten!! And I hear you on the 'now' not 'please'. LOL

And Kim I totally hear you on sleep issues. Maia's somewhat better the last few weeks (*knock wood*). I hope things have calmed for you, too!

Not too many updates here. We're still working on the potty. She'll do it if we set her up on the potty. And she is interested in the potty. But she does not think to go in there if she needs to go. Especially for the pooing. We'll keep on keeping on, though!

hey there ladies! been a little brutal around here lately, jade's decided that treacherous three's needs to start early, when they say two with intent they're not lying, she can now pre plan her evil, tell you why you did it and be very specific as to what 'punishment' i get! lol oh yeah she knows full well what she's doing these days and is very very good at push every button with just enough time lapse in between to avoid my freaking out until she's ready to see 'MAD MOMMY'. today has been one of those days, i've been trying to leave the house for 5+ hours now.

amanda glad to hear that the sleep is getting a little better at least. good luck with potty, we are in the wonder spot where she runs all over the house to tell everyone she has to pee, then runs to the potty! she makes it thankfully but just some days!

kim, hope things are getting better on your end too, the kicking has to suck, i babysat kids like that once and yep, turned out to be a growth and development spurt combined into one! crossing fingers for you! wtg on the mimicking and your weight loss!!

carrie good to hear from you again! sounds like you are the right track with things, hope the transition went well after they settled! yay for kindergarten going well, very weird about no recess? and the at home makes sense with that going on, sounds like you are doing great trying to set boundaries, sticking to it, and still giving him the room to be himself and work things out without being jumped on!!
