pets and tricks!

so Amber got me thinking.... for those of you with pets, how are the kids and pets adjusting to each other? are they teaching each other any tricks?

we have two cats and they have their own personalities, they seem to think it funny to play with jade! the younger one couldn't figure out why she was getting in trouble for playing tag (hide above jades head near a cat toy and 'tag' her on the head as she walks past, the cats do this to each other all the time) jade has started playing 'tag' with them now, she hides on the couch and taps them on the head as they walk past! the older cat loves to chase his tail (yes like a dog) and jade has since learned to spin in circles from watching the cat! both cats also head butt to say 'love' and jade has started this as well, her and the cats do it to each other and then she tries to do it to us! pets are too funny with kids!

We have cats and Maia LOVES them. They ... tolerate her. LOL! Well, one of them seems to love her, too. We have three of them and one, Monkey, just lets her do anything to him and he doesn't care and comes back for more. The other two, though, are good with her, but in more of a tolerating way. Odysseus will let her kiss him, but doesn't like her to pet him. My baby (the cat I've had the longest) Bailey, will let her kiss him and pet him, but doesn't like her to touch his tail. We've been teaching her to be gentle with them, but she gets very excited and forgets often and winds up slapping at them instead of petting. Bailey has swiped at her twice, but has done far, far better than I ever expected. I love all my cats so I'm very glad they've done so well with her. I'm hoping she'll grow up to be a cat person, like me! :kitty:

Mara, that's so cute about Jade and the kitties!

we just had to give our two dogs (chihuahuas) away yesterday Sad one of them didnt like kylee at all. would always bark and growl at her if she walked past their cage. he would also grab food right out of her hands. i cried over it, but i know they went to a great home and have older kids to play with and a big yard. when kylee gets older we are going to get a larger breed dog so that when kylee beats up on him the dog wont get injured or scared.

Aww....Ashley, sorry to hear that. Sad I am sure that was tough!

No pets here, so he learns his tricks from daddy and his big brothers. Daddy taught him how to spin around in circles and get dizzy and fall down. And guess who has to comfort him when he whacks his head!

We had 4 cats, but one went to live with my brother for a while. The other three... *sigh* Two of them won't stay out of the play area, even though they get pulled on and sat on and everything. They (cats) hate being in there, so why do they go in??? And one of our cats has taken to doing it's business in the hallway which is very annoying and we might have to get rid of him. I can't stand him anymore. Sad But he's Robb's cat and as much as I hate him, I don't want to force it. UGH. Anyway...
