Thank You Notes

I always write thank-you notes for gifts Maia receives, and I plan to write them out for the gifts she got at her first birthday. However, I was under the impression that my aunt had written down the gifts and gifters as DH and I were helping Maia open her gifts and that turned out to not be true. When we got home with all the gifts I didn't keep them in their bags or with their cards so now I'm not sure who gave her what.

So what should I write in the cards? I usually talk about how she enjoys the toy or how we used the item but now I guess most of the cards should just be sort of a "thanks for coming and for the gift" variety?

I think I'm making too much of this but I really just want everyone to know how much we appreciate them, you know?

I would just write thank you so much for the gift and helping celebrate Maia's special day. You could even let Maia color on them. I let Alison scribble on the ones we sent for her birthday and everyone was more excited that she wrote them than what the cards actually said! HA!

I totally agree! And what a cute idea Kristi! I didn't even think to let Jordan scribble on them. Of course the last time I handed he a crayon she wanted to eat it.

She will occasionally try to stick one in her mouth but for the most part, once she realized that they did something when she touched them to the paper she was very excited!!

That's a great idea, Kristi! I'll have to try that out. At Christmas I let her 'write' in the card to my mom and she did a fairly good job. LOL I'll have to find some fat crayons and give her a go. Thanks for the idea!!

Crayola has some awesome crayons for toddlers called Tadoodles. They are great!

I found out pretty quickly that the ones that are guaranteed to wash out just about dissolve when the put them into their mouth. She was instantly blue!

I LOVE the idea of letting her colour them. I hand-calligraphed (calligraphied?) mine; on the front it said Thank You and on the inside it said "For your gift!" and then I signed it Robb, Kim and the Twins.

ITA a generic thanks and then let her colour away! kristi gave me the idea of the tadoodles (little pricey but worth it!) and that's how i did all the cards this year, bday and mothers day across the board. and good for you for continuing with these, so many ppl just dont bother anymore!!!

I got Maia the Tadoodles and they were so cute! But she was not interested in marking on anything at all. All she wanted to do was beat the tadoodles together. LOL

So I just wrote out the cards from Maia's POV sort of a "Thanks for coming to my party!" thing.

Thanks for the advice on the crayons, though. They're beyond adorable.
