Default 1 month checkup- the good and the bad...

Lucas had his 1 month checkup yesterday. The good news is that after losing 9% of his weight in the hospital and having weight checks for 2 weeks, he gained 28 ounces in the last 21 days! He's up to 9 lbs 15 oz. The doctor said she would have been ok with 15 ounces. Little oinker!!!

The bad news is bad. Lucas has an inguinal hernia and needs surgery. I'm waiting for a call from the surgeon's office in the next day or so to find out when he'll be going in. Not looking forward to my little guy going under general anesthesia at such a young age. Also, how the heck do you keep a baby from eating anything after midnight?

This baby sure does like to keep it interesting.

Poor baby, I hope everything goes smoothly! I honestly dont know how to keep a 1 month old from eating after midnight. Cammi would be one very unhappy baby if I made her wait! Lol. I would've asked the dr if you and Lucas could stay at his house that night, that way, when Lucas wakes up angry with you for not feeding him, you could hand him to your dr and tell him to deal with it! .

If he is breastfeeding, you can feed him later before surgery than formula:

Poor Lucas! I have no idea how to keep him from eating afterwards. My only thought would be to try and keep him awake a lot of the day and then feed him a lot at night (as much as you can) and make sure to do a feeding right before midnight so then maybe he will go to sleep for a while. (The idea came because Desmond was up most of yesterday and then he ate and slept for about 6 hours...of course he was up at midnight ha ha!)

Or you can always do Jenny's idea and stay at the drs house lol.

But yay for him gaining a lot of weight!

well first yay for weight gain

poor baby (and mommy) for needing surgery. Have they talked to you about what to do yet? Hopefully they'll get you in first thing for surgery. Not a clue how to keep them from eating I can get Adam to wait a tiny bit my sucking on my pinky but if he's hungry that really doesn't keep him happy for long....hope they can offer suggestions

    kup and hugs
