37 week OB appt

So after the u/s tech told me yesterday that her measurements put this baby above any ranges they have measurements for (I saw ranges up to 42weeks 5days.. and others went above that.. EEK!), and he's breech.. .I'm a *bit* anxious. LOL

We have everything packed in the car, just in case, and I am giving an educated guess that it's a possibility they may tell me he's *so big* that I may get my delivery before 39 weeks after all.... Maybe today? I dunno... just trying to be prepared, and I could be overly excited, but PHEW I could be mother to a son by the end of the day.

I'll update my birth buddy IF that happens.. and back on here tonight. Just my luck, I'll probably end up being forced to go to 39 weeks with such a massive little one... hoping not though!

I was hoping for them to tell me we'd go to 38 weeks instead of 39w4d... but no such luck there. lol

I hope their u/s is wrong though and he isn't so big yet! Good luck and keep us updated!

Toally let us know how your appt. goes. Sorry that he is sitting breech, but he could still do loads of things position wise.

UGH just before leaving, I've gotten 2 phone calls from my doc's office. One to say they haven't gotten the u/s report, and not to leave yet...

and after I gave the u/s tech's contact info, my doc's office calls back to say that the results are being faxed now, and:

1- my doc is not in the office today, so i would be seeing someone else, so
2- they are taking me out of the books for today, depending on what the u/s results determine.
3-I'll get another call back to either reschedule (they are closed entirely, for grand rounds tomorrow), or the slightest chance that they want to deliver me now for whatever reason.

Just a bit crappy, to be rescheduled on a Thursday, when the next possible appt would be Monday, and I'm this close to term with a MASSIVE baby. *this is me not being amused*. We shall see what the receptionist says when she calls back, and hopefully it's soon.

Sorry you are getting the run around. Hopefully you get answers soon and that the baby is not quite as big as they think he is.

I can sympathize with the breech part!! Hang in there, Mama! You will be holding your baby boy very soon! Biggrin

Wowza! Keep us posted for sure. I know all about having a big breech baby from last time.

How frustrating! But even if Monday does come around, baby won't be gaining another 3 lbs over the weekend Wink No consolation I know lol!

I'm hoping their measurements are off too! I can't imagine being told I have that big of a baby in my belly! But it's kind of exciting to know you may be delivering him soon! That would make another April baby!

It sucks that they're giving you the run around. Hopefully the receptionist will call you soon!

I hope you get answers soon, how frustrating for you. And I definitely hope your baby isn't as big as they think. Thinking of you ... KUP.

Thanks for the well-wishes, everyone! When I called near the end of their business day (after having not heard a thing for a few hours), they told me my doctor would likely call back tomorrow. I know I'm a new patient, probably a little inconvenient coming in at the end of pregnancy etc, but I expect a little more when I am cancelled on, as I'm leaving the house for a 1.5 hour car trip. I guess that's part of the risk to pay, with a teaching/research hospital, but meh.

When I told them that I was concerned that baby was maybe big enough to cause risk to his life, and was hoping to at least hear that there was no emergency going on, they transferred me to the head OB, to at least get a quick review of the u/s results. They estimate baby at 4000g, which is around 8lb13oz (at least over 90% percentile but not as much as I had guessed from the u/s), and fluid is good, at almost 10. He is breech, as I had already been told. It must have been just his head that's measuring totally off the charts... but she didn't say anything about his head size. What it comes down to, is external version is not a good choice at his size, and I have an appointment next Monday, where they will be scheduling my delivery for 3/27, when I am exactly 39 weeks. Unless something major comes up between now & then, there is no extenuating circumstances to medically call for early delivery, and it is unlikely he will flip back around. Of course, I will be having the discussion with the doc on Monday on how big his head is, and whether it's safe for vbac, IF he does flip back.

It's been a rough day. Between being woken up nearly every morning for a few weeks around 5am, just from peeing, contractions, and baby stretching every direction, then the drama of appointments, power outages, and my final week of Winter Term for school (prepping for chemistry final -TONS-O-FUN)... I am just exhausted.

Thanks for listening to my rant/whining. lol

Well at least he isn't measuring as big as you feared! I really hope he does flip so you can try for your VBAC. And I'm glad you got to talk to the head OB and get some answers, even if you had to call them yourself (why don't they ever seem to do the call backs they're suppose to?!)

Hopefully a medical reason doesn't come up for you to have to schedule anything sooner, and that you can be sort of worry free the rest of your pregnancy (what 2 weeks?! WOW!)

And good luck on your exams! I'm sure it's stressful doing school with a baby on the way!

We're like pregnancy twins! My LO was measuring at 8lbs at 36 weeks too. Head off the charts, the u/s tech kept taking it over and over and I was just like, yeah, my hubs and I make big headed babes! lol

I'm glad he's not as big as you thought. I know it's a bummer when it seems like forever away. I really hope this goes by fast for you !
