Baby Names......

Ok I am frustrated! By now I had both of my other childrens names picked out..... DH doesn't like anything!!!!

So the only name he like is Carson... Well our sons name is Carter don't you think it will be a little 2 matchy matchy? I do but I really like the name, if we are to use it I want to spell it Karson Lee. So what do you guys think?

I like the name C/Karson. I think it's cute! And C/Kason Lee sounds really good together!

I agree that Carson and Carter sound similar, however my name is Katie and my sister's name is Kari. They are similar, but my mom liked those names (it took her a while to think of my name ha ha).

I say if you and DH love that name, to name him it!

I like it. It is a little matchy, but I think it works. I know a couple who have 3 sons and their names are Connor, Caleb, and Carter. It works.

If you haven't already seen it, I like the name finder on BabyCenter.com

And if it makes you feel better, DH and I can't agree on a name either! We fought about it for months when naming DD, but had a boy name ready to go. Now we don't know if we like our boy name anymore and are back to fighting about it!

I think it is a cute name!
I know what you mean about worring about the matchy part. I'm going to rule out all R and O names regardless of the gender.

I'm kind of on the fence. My DD's name is Rylee and I've kind of silently ruled out anything that ends similar to that.

I guess I'm no help! Smile

Oh I forgot to mention Lee will be the middle name no matter what so we are trying to find a name that fits good with that. I am the only child in my family and my middle name is Lee. I was named after my dad, grandfather, and great grandfather who all have the same middle name. So I would really like to carry the name on with this child since there is a chance this will be our last.

I also like Carson spelled Karsyn.

Oh and I never even thought about Laryssa has the ar in her name too.... hehe that can be our name trend even though her name doesn't make the ar sound.

I like the name Cason as well but DH doesn't Sad

I think Karson is great. I know a family that has an Ethan and Evan. I think that is too close but Karson and Carter is not too bad.

That would be too close for my personal taste, but I am VERY picky with name similarities, so my opinion probably shouldn't count for anything Smile

My only thought is what you would call them for short?? If Carter becomes Car, then Carson may become Car too!
I am finding names so hard because we want them to "match" but not be the same.... There is one family in my husband's family that has named their children Hannah, Kobe, Gladys, Paul and Carlos... just doesn't seem to fit having older names, new names and a spanish name!!

Good luck with your decision!!

I am actually not a nickname person, so I wouldn't plan on calling them anything other then their name unless they are in trouble and then that is when I seem to add to it... you know middle + last... funny how we seem to do that huh. I guess if we were going with an older more mature name a nickname would be ok like Andrew - Drew, or something along those lines.

My daughter is 8 and her name is a a little on the longer side, and her dad calls her Ryssa and I DESPISE IT! That isn't her dang name if I wanted her called that then I would have named her that... lol Funny thing is she hates it too.

I agree with Amanda, it's too similar for me, but I do know lots of people that like matching their kids names, or using only a specific letter name and so on. I think it's fine so long as BOTH you and DH like it. On it's own I think Carson Lee works well together and has a nice sound to it.

My DH calls me "The baby name N@zi" lol I have ruled out a lot of names that sound good because I don't like what they mean, or if the name reminds me of someone I don't particularly adore. I also refuse to use names that I like if they can be easily shortened. I am not a fan of nicknames! We also refuse to use names that other family members have used so it cuts the options a lot, especially since we have a large family!

See, just be happy your DH is not like me!

HAHA that sounds JUST LIKE ME! My mom is one of 7 my dad is one of 6 and all of my cousins have children. There is not 2 kids in my family with the same name. So it cuts down on names that we can use. Plus on top of that my DH is a volunteer fire fighter, the guys at his station are like family so that rules out alot of names as well... I really don't like nicknames so I don't want to use a name that will be shortened to something else.

I don't like long names that get shortened either. I feel like I want to name my kids what they will be called. I like 1 to 2 syllable names, especially since our last name is 3 syllables long. I also don't use names that have been used in the family before. My side of the family is HUGE, but it's doesn't hinder us much since most of those names are old, traditional names. I have 4 cousins named Agatha (not anything I'd ever name my kid anyway!), and I don't even know how many John/Johan's there are!

This name picking business is hard work. It's hard to come up with something your child will be stuck with their entire life.

I also always write it down a few times to see how it flows when writing it and I write down the initials to make sure that it doesn't spell something weird.

Yeah, it is kinda matchy, but not too much. I think Carter and Carson are cute together. IMO, though, spelling it Karsyn is more on the feminine side.
