Chat!!! Get your post count up! [Birth Buddies update too]

I was going to try to get everyone paired up by yesterday and did work on that. There are a few who signed up to participate that are close, but don't quite have the required posts.

So, in an effort to make sure that everyone who wants to participate can, we've decided to give everyone a little more time to get to the 300 required posts.

So chat! Post, post, post!!

Yay!

I took DH to work today because I needed the car today for my drs appt. Since it was so early and I have been craving for months a sausage biscuit from McDonald's, the girls and I went there for breakfast. Man I missed those lol. I'm actually currently watching DD2 finish eating her pancakes (which she dips in syrup) make "pirate faces" at me while growling. Lol. Okay it doesn't help that I started doing it to her first.

Hoping for a good appt and get most if not all of my qs answered that I have written down!

Thanks Anna! I'm really trying to get my posts up!

Katie, a sausage biscuit sounds delicious!! I've been craving an icing covered donut with sprinkles; I'm gonna have to get on that soon!!

I've got my first every two week appt next Thursday. Then after that I'm meeting with one of the pediatricians. I'm not sure what all I should be asking. I get so tired of thinking up questions all the time! LOL

Jenny, what kind of things are important to you when it comes to pediatric care? Some things I might ask (and did) were about after hours procedures and how calling the office is handled. At my ped's office you call and tell the receptionist what is going on, they give a message to a nurse who calls you back at her leisure. I HATE that! When I call I want to talk to someone NOW.

Some others:
Do they have a separate waiting area for well visits and sick baby visits?
Are they okay with you calling a lot initially?
What are his/her position on vaccinations and scheduling? (Especially if you are interested in delayed vaccinations)
When do they want you to call them?
What is his/her definition of a fever? (As a newborn my ped's office considered fever at 100.4, now they don't care to hear from me until she's had a temp of 102 for more than 24 hours!)

If I think of more, I'll post them.

I had my appointment today and everything looks good! He signed my birth plan with no issues! Yahoo Looks like I'm sitting on go with my VBAC! The only part of my birth plan he even felt the need to discuss was where I said I don't want to be offered pain meds. He said that under the Obamacare stuff, the nurses are required to ask me about my pain level (on a scale of 1 to 10). Yuck! I hated that when I had my DD and they would come in asking me my pain scale level all the time! Hopefully, I can curb those questions pretty early on. And I get to do my GBS next time, :puke:.

BH contractions have started!!! Oh boy, it's going to be a lllooooonnnnnngggg 8 weeks. Forgot how uncomfortable these things are and are fairly consistent.

I've been hearing commercials for the heart shaped chocolate donuts from Dunkin Donuts...boy do I want one of those things!! I think I might treat my co-workers to donuts tomorrow Wink

I didn't know what questions to ask of our pediatrician either. Thankfully the one that was on duty the morning DD was born (there are a lot of docs in the practice) was awesome and we love him. He's so easy going and down to earth. As the silly things have come up over the past 3.5 years he's answered everything and we've been really happy with him.

Wish I could be more help!

Thanks girls for you inputs!

Congratulations on your Dr. signing off on your plan to VBAC, Anna! My Dr had some things too that he just couldnt sign off on based on hospital standards. (Not for a VBAC, but like IV's and monitoring) Also, a side note, our hospital cant do VBACs because they dont have the special equipment incase anything happens. So you're lucky that you live in a town that can accomodate for any problems, God forbid!

I've been having a few BH contractions here and there. They are very strange; just feels really tight and like I have trapped gas, although I know that's not what it is.

I had my appt today. Everything looked good and the dr was able to answer all but one of my questions (about having info on circumcision...she said to ask the pediatrician.) But good news is they don't like doing c/s unless there's an absolute reason for it. Baby gets to stay in the room the whole time (unless they're doing shots or whatever) because at the Naval hospital they don't really have a nursery lol. They also said unless there is something wrong with LO when he's born, he comes right to me and they do provide a bunch of stuff if needed (even clothes!) but they do recommend bringing your own outfit ha ha. The only bad thing I can think of is that they dunno who specifically will deliver my baby since it's the military ha ha. But so far, everyone I've dealt with has been extremely nice. Oh and if he tries to come out earlier than 36 weeks he has to go to a different hospital (in Palm Desert, an hour away).

I go in for my next appt March 2nd and they will begin checking me to see how much I've dilated. Then of course I think it's every 2 weeks after that.

And now that it's past lunch time, I am going to get something to eat because I'm hungry!

Wow Katie, I've been going every 2 weeks since 28 weeks! I start going every week at 36 weeks. Hopefully you don't go early so you won't have to worry about going to another hospital. I'm glad you are comfortable with your birth environment and there's a staff you like. Good help is so hard to find these days!

Yeah I thought it was weird too that I still don't go every 2 weeks, but I guess since it's a military hospital and it's smaller that's why? Eh. I guess part of it is at least then I don't have to worry about getting up so early to take DH to work as much ha ha.

I'm getting real excited about the arrivals of our LOs!

I had my 30 week appt yesterday. Baby is measuring big (33 weeks) but otherwise all is well. BP was up a little but since it's normally normal they weren't concerned. I'll be back at the doc in 2 weeks! This pregnancy is going SOOOO fast! I feel like I haven't even enjoyed it!

I actually am wanting the next few weeks to go by quickly. But part of me is wanting that because I have so much to do in these coming weeks. But I do want to meet my little guy. I just can't believe how fast this whole pregnancy has gone! I mean it seems like just the other day I found out I was pregnant, told people, and found out we were having a boy.

Although the part I can't wait to be over is when DH's friends see me (who haven't seen me in a while) says "Wow you REALLY are pregnant." Lol awww. After he said it he was like "No no no! I didn't mean it as a bad thing!" Lol. Then I had another guy tell me that a pregnant woman's body is the sexiest thing in the world. Lol.

This month is really going by fast for me! Every week I've got atleast a couple of things to do. Tonight is Parent's Night Out at my church. I have the K-4th class, which has consisted of up to 40 kids! And I usually get only one volunteer! It gets pretty nerve wracking! Luckily this month I dont have my special needs program (which I only do one Saturday a month) because our hospital's New Parents class happens to be on the same day as the program (figures huh). Every Saturday I'm available I've been going to my moms house to help her get things ready for my baby shower (Yes, I kind of planned my own shower, but my mom had know idea what to do LOL, it's not a big deal), so I'm doing that this Saturday. Then next week, I've got a Dr. appt on Thursday, and then Saturday is the New Parent's class. The next week I have a dentist appt on Thursday and my baby shower on Saturday. So that pretty much is my month in a nutshell. Having a couple of things planned to do every week really makes the week go by fast!

In March I have got to buckle down and work on my sewing projects for LO's room, and after we have the baby shower, we'll really be able to finish setting everything up. Knowing me, that will take the whole month! LOL And then before I know it, April will be here!!! OMG!!

Jenny it sounds like you have a good plan. I've just been making blankets at night. I usually will do it at night while DH plays video games or sleeps and I can watch/listen to TV and just do my thing without one of the kids wants to play on/with the fabric I'm working with ha ha.

Also I sort of helped plan my baby shower with DD1. That was because my exes mom wanted to be the one who threw it but my brother's fiance (at the time) wanted to throw me one so I had to give them ideas. Not to sound mean, but it kinda turned out boring (IMO) because when it happened, the only thing they ended up really planning was the time of where it was. I even had to get everyone's info lol. Oh well, I was 18 so it didn't really matter anyway (but now that I've been to ones where they had games I wish we had played games at the baby shower because it was fun! Lol).

I still can't believe March is so close and then it'll be April!

We're doing a couple of games at my baby shower. It's a co-ed baby shower, because my grandpa really wants to be there and then my aunt asked if her boyfriend could come and I dont have a problem having men there, so I had to make sure everyone knew that all significant others were invited. So, I dont want to do too many games and bore the mean, but at the same time, I'm sure they will all get in a group and talk, so I'm sure they could care less!

Wow...I just had a nice thing all typed out and it got deleted! HOW! GAH.

Okay so start over...I got my phone call today that we get the keys to our new place at 3:30 on the 29th. We have to be out by March 2nd. They are giving us 2 1/2 days to move all our crap! GAH! The best part is that DH is suppose to be out in the field all that week. GAH!

I guess if all else fails I'll hire movers because I can't lift much (I'll be about 36 weeks when that happens) and the few friends I have out here have babies under the age of 1. SOOO ha ha.

But for some unknown reason they won't allow us to move on a weekend. No idea why! Wouldn't that be easier? Let us have the keys Friday afternoon, do our last inspection Monday morning! I guess the military doesn't have the same common sense I do lol.

I'm going to look into renting a big Uhaul and having movers come and get prices because I think it'd be around $200 which isn't too bad. That's also if DH can't get anyone to help him because, come on...he's gonna need help to get it done that fast!

I guess they only give you a little bit of time because they don't expect you to have much to move. But shew we have a move date! Which makes me happy!

My older brother has actually been to a couple of baby showers. He said they were fun lol. They had baby food tasting and bottle drinking lol. I never understood the whole "baby showers aren't for men" thing because I like to think the shower is also for Daddy of the baby. Plus it's nice if he gets to invite friends too.

Well, the games I planned arent neccessarily for guys, but most of the men there will be old men, so I know they could care less. LOL

Yeah, I think that the baby shower, whether DH is actually involved, should be for both of us, since it's both of our family and friend's coming.

The good news is moving during the week is actually cheaper if you need to rent a uhaul or get a moving company then it would be during the weekend Smile

Jenny - here are some games for men!
The Diaper Change
Fill diapers up with apple juice and melted chocolate and place on some baby dolls. Get new diapers and have the guys race to clean the baby's wet/soiled diaper and then replace with a new one. You will get loads of laughs out of this one.

Baby Toy Assembly Race
For those of you guys who enjoy a competition, purchase two baby/toddler toys that need to be assembled (e.g., a riding toy, bicycle, doll house) supply a bunch of different tools or even better if you have them use a butter knife instead of a screwdriver (sure to get a lot of laughs when they look and look for the flat head screwdriver, and realize there isn't one). Place baby shower guests into two different teams and see how fast they can complete the assembly. The losing team has to buy the rounds!

One of the cutest games I ever played at a couples shower was "Make a Baby." We each got small pieces of two different colors of Play-Doh and were told to make a baby. When the time was up, we all had to put our babies on a platter, and the expecting couple came back in the room to pick their favorite baby. Some of the babies were pretty hilarious.

Kelly - I didn't know it was cheaper! That's good to know though because if it comes to that (which it probably will) I will have to get everything moved on Thursday. I have already started a list of what needs to be packed, when it will go to the new house, and everything ha ha. I just need to call the moving people Monday and get more boxes!

Katie- your situation may be different than mine, but they don't supply the movers? I was moved while I was in base housing, during my pregnancy, and they did it all in a matter of hours. Of course, mine they were in the middle of changing it from 2 bedroom family housing to basic officer housing... so they were kinda conveniently booting us out of there. Have you made sure there's no way they provide that for you? I also had the joy of doing a DITY, and that was super fun.

I'm going to ask when I call on Monday. DH said he's going to get "special leave" for those 3 days meaning either he gets off or off early. He doesn't really know and he said he's suppose to get some people to help. However, he has been so stressed out and moody lately that I don't really understand what's going on.

From what my understand is, is that they won't help you move or pay for your move unless orders have been changed.

A fun one is having the men have a bottle drinking contest Smile I have seen it done with beer and soda. The SO of the man has to feed them a bottle of choice beverage and who ever finishes first wins..

Ok I didn't want to start a new thread so I'm whining here. My HIPS HURT!!! OMG It hurts to walk! I don't remember it being this bad this early with the other two! Also I'm enjoying the dreaded back pain and really wish I could go get a massage but I'm taking the kids away for Spring Break and I'm hosting a baby shower next week so my funds are limited....maybe next month!

You aren't alone on the hip / lower back pain. Warm heating pads and a hubby's hands are a good substitute for a nice massage!

Your hips are just now hurting? Lol I wanna say lucky but then again it's not lucky to have the pain lol. I've had the horrible hip pains for a while now where I roll over in bed or walk after getting up and I pop. I like relaxing in a warm bath and that usually helps. I also use a heating pad when it gets really bad and I can't run take a bath.

Hope you can find some relief!

Today DH is out in the field for 4 days (missing Vday again) and I went to the housing office to put in my notice so they could schedule me a move out inspection for the 2nd. Turns out the only way I can do that is if I have a POA which of course mine expired in November. Grr...DH has to do it when he gets back then. The lady implied that if I didn't get it done this week they won't allow us to move out because we didn't give enough notice. That better not be the case! Lol or else I'll just take more time to move. Kidding. I forget how little I'm allowed to do around here without a POA.

Other than that, our house is a mess now because of all the boxes. I scored about 50 boxes for free over the weekend because I was at Walmart about to buy clearanced boxes when a lady asked me if I was moving. When I told her yes she said she just moved into town and would be more than happy to give me all her boxes! I only took about half (because that's all that would fit in the car!) along with wrapping paper for dishes and pictures!!! I was and still am very greatful for that!

I'll sort of enjoy this week just because DD1 has a short school week. She gets out early Thursday and then has a 4 day weekend! DH should hopefully also get a 4 day weekend. Then we get to pack more and I'm just excited to get it all done because I can feel myself wanting to nest but I can't since everything is going into boxes!

I'm also hoping that DH's Valentine's Day gift gets here before we move. It's coming from the UK and I ordered it a week ago and they said it could take up to 30 days to get here. Oh and I ordered it before I got the call saying we're moving lol. It's a bean plant that when it grows it has little messages like "I love you" etched into the plant so that's what you see when it pops up! However, his anniversary present got here the other day (even though it's still 2 months away) and it looks awesome. It's our 2nd anniversary and the theme is cotton or whatever, so I ordered a picture blanket that has him and me on it. Last year the theme was paper so I got him a deck of cards to take on deployment that had our pic on it.

Anyway, today I'm hoping to finish sewing my swaddle blankets I've been making. I got so tired that I took like a 4 day break from working on them. I've made 4 so far and have 2 more to sew together. I also made a blanket for each of my girls so they wouldn't feel left out. I'll post pics when I'm done.

Okay time for DD2 to have lunch and then soon after a nap! Maybe I'll take a nap too...I haven't decided yet! Ha ha.

You're so creative with your gifts!!! For Valentine's Day DH got a new battery for his truck because his car is in the shop and he has to drive his truck to work but the battery was D-E-A-D in the truck so I got him a new one this weekend! ROFL I'm SOOOOO romantic!

OH I guess he also got Season 1 of Boardwalk Empire because we don't have HBO and he's wanted to see it so we'll see if he loves of hates his Valentine's Day gifts.

For Valentine's Day I made us reservations at a local restaurant. I was sold when their sign said Steak and Shrimp Dinner for 2 plus dessert! LOL I'm also getting DH's wedding ring engraved with our LO's initials, for Valentine's Day/His Birthday (in March) and a New Daddy gift, but I'm not getting that done until Thursday because that's the only day I'll be in the next town where I have to get it done. I've also been thinking about getting DH a set of Astronomical Binoculaurs because DH has really been getting into astronomy now that he's given up drinking. A new pair of those binoculaurs can get expensive, but I'm hoping the big pawn shop in the same town that I'm getting his ring engraved might have some. I checked Craigslist in our area, but no luck. Anyway, if I do find some, I was thinking I could give that to him on the day of our baby shower, so he get's something cool too. I mean, I'm sure he'll be excited about everything we'll be getting, but the baby and I will be using and appreciate it more than he probably will! LOL
