Chat Thread! Week of 12/12

What's going on this week? Anyone starting to get ready for Christmas? Who still has shopping to do or even start? Anyone still waiting on the big u/s?

I need to get ingredients for pumpkin pie, since I'm bringing that to the IL's for Christmas. I think I'm done with Christmas shopping. We aren't getting anything for any adults, just the kids this year. Otherwise, I'm just looking forward to getting rid of this nasty sore throat.

This week is the week before school lets out. Today is DH's bday and he's out in the field right now. Actually they told him he would be back early the 11th but ha it's past 6 PM now and I don't consider that early. Odds are he won't be back until the 15th, the original plan, and they changed it at the last minute.

Tomorrow is DD1's award ceremony and she's getting an award. It's at 2:30 and I wish I didn't have to take DD2 since she won't want to sit still. Oh well, I'll manage somehow!

Tuesday is my dr's appt to figure out why I have a pain in my left butt cheek (lol) and hopefully they can tell me what it is and possibly give me stretches to do to fix it and not just say "give it time".

Then one of the days this week I'll have a parent teacher conference to see how well DD1 is doing.

Then Friday night or Saturday morning we are packing up the car and heading to TX for 2 weeks for Christmas. Also I'm hoping before then the girls' DVDs I ordered come in (the whole collection of Land Before Time because they're both really into dinosaurs!)

Other than that, I need to vacuum, but I would rather DH do it so I don't have to try and lug the vacuum up the stairs.

I have finished Christmas shopping and wrapping (for the most part, I need to wrap my family's presents). We're going to do Christmas pictures on the 21st down in TX. DH on the other hand hasn't wrapped anything and just finished shopping before he left, but I dunno if all the gifts will get here before we leave.

Xmas shopping is almost done. Have to figure out something for the MIL and my own father. Two hardest people to shop for. This weekend we are going to Chicago. Going to try to get some wrapping done on Wednesday. I like having everything basically done way before Christmas Eve!

Shopping is almost done. Thursday (payday) I have to order MIL and FIL's gifts and then I"m pretty much done. I have a couple things I want to get the kids still (stocking stuffers) and I am going to get DH a phone but that'll have to wait until closer to Christmas so he can return it if he doesn't like it.

Angel- Baby Boy goes through spurts of being super active and then will go 2 days where I only feel him a couple times. I usually start to freak out but then get out my doppler and make sure he's ok.

Beee I do not like this format of replying. It just erased a detailed response - I am sure I did something wrong Beee Anyway, we have nearly completed Christmas shopping- just need to find 1 item for each of the girls still. I've put together all the materials for a cocoa kit for 10 families, I just need to sew together red bags for all of them. Since this is our first Christmas together, we are evaluating Christmas decorations, getting rid of stuff, and using my 4 weeks off of school to organize and sort through household belongings so that it will be easier to combine his stuff in storage with mine, when we move soon. Although we are keeping really busy, at least things are at our own pace right now. Smile

Ha ha I erased a response on another thread earlier. It's taking some getting use to! It took me like 30-45 minutes just to figure out how to stay logged in! LOL!

So today was DD1's awards ceremony. She got a reading award! It was really cool. Also the whole kindergarten class did a song before the ceremony with the letters of the alphabet in sign language. During the first half of one of the songs DD1 gave the middle finger LOL! DH and I couldn't stop laughing and I'm pretty sure I got a picture of it lol.

DH got in late last night so we haven't done his bday cake (and I've been craving sweets!!!) so we're doing that tonight.

Nothing much else is going on. I'm making a list of what we need to bring to TX when we leave this weekend. I need to pack!

The new format is definitely going to take some getting used to, for sure. I think once I do get used to it, I'm really going to like it. I too managed to erase a long-winded response to another thread earlier.

DH and I finally got our bedroom straightened up and cleaned out good today. Ever since we moved DD to her own room (formerly the guest/pile-all-the-crap-in-here room), the master bedroom became where we put all the stuff we just didn't know what to do with. It's a huge very rectangular shaped room, which makes it hard to arrange well. So we really only use half the room as our bedroom, making the other half perfect for a nursery. We did that for DD, and now we have to clean it up so that we can do the same for DS when he gets here. Now I just have to set up the nursery!

We can't decide whether to get a second crib or try to transition DD into a toddler bed. We tried it before, but she's just not ready yet, and I'm not sure she will be by January/February.

We're the same way. Although our DD2 is already 2 and will almost be 2 1/2 when DS gets here. I wanna get her a big girl bed (maybe the kind with drawers underneath so she won't need a dresser) but DH wants to try and keep her in the crib until she's 3. Mainly this is because she is a trouble maker ha ha. I think she would do good in a big girl bed but I worry also with her getting out of bed and wandering around (plus she's learning how to open doors, mainly the pantry ha ha!)

I think if I can find a good deal on a bed for DD2 in summer time we would do it then (hopefully). I know we're keeping DS in the pack n play for at least 8 weeks maybe until he's 3 months old (depends on if he's trying to sit up or anything...DD2 sat up at 3 1/2 months).

I am almost done, just a few more things to get. I hope to start wrapping tonight and hopefully DH will get his shopping done soon. Today is my glucose test, hopefully it goes well but I have not passed this first one yet, so I guess I will just have to wait and see.

I don't know why I didn't think about this sooner but I think I'm going to start buying diapers. Maybe not EVERY time I go to the grocery store but if I get a pack a month I'll be ahead of the game for when baby comes. Oh the joy of buying diapers ROFL
