Kole just fell off the couch, head first. It's only about 2 feet high maybe even less, but I am worried. DD never fell lime that, at least not till she started climbing everything. He has a huge red spot on his head where he landed.
I measured. It's 18 inches from the floor to the top of the couch cushion. Not far, luckily, but the floor is wood laminate over concrete. He seems to be okay. He's been napping for about an hour and a half now, but it is his usual naptime. I do keep doing a breathing check and I feel the top of his head to make sure his soft spot isn't protruding.
I know babies are resilient and can generally sustain falls like that pretty well, but there's always one here and there that gets serious. I didn't see the actual fall as I had just turned my back, but I heard the splat and it sounds sickening. I'm still sick to my stomach over the whole thing.
I would be sick to my stomach too, but it sounds like you are doing the right things. Just keep an eye on him and if anything changes take him to a doctor. Don't know what the medical system is like, but you could go to a walk in clinic just for reassurance and peace of mind. Poor little guy. Now that they are starting to move, it is the start of all the bumps and bruises!
He's fine. The red mark went away and he's his normal little happy self. But to make my day even better, DD took a dive off a step stool she gets on to 'help' me cook and landed on her face. She's fine, but it made for a stressful day yesterday. Ugh, these kids take years off my life every day!
Glad to hear he is ok! and your daughter too! I had a friend who walked out of her kitchen, and she came back just in time to watch her six year old try to do a spin while standing on top of a bar stool. Needless to say, her daughter fell, and broke her arm. My friend said it was horrible because she could see it was going to end badly, but couldn't say anything or get to her fast enough to stop it. I definitely agree that kids take years off your life!
