I haven't talked about it much, because there's not much to say until we know what's going on... but since I tested positive as being at least a carrier of beta thalassemia (essentially, my red blood cells don't mature enough), I will be going to a genetic specialist tomorrow for appointment/evaluation. My husband had to have his blood drawn to see if he is at all a carrier (I asked for results from the OB, over the phone, and there were no abnormal findings YAY!). I *think* we may get MUCH more detailed U/S pictures..possibly even 3-D, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Now that we know that my husband tests negative for blood problems, we know that life-threatening risks to the baby are slim, even though baby may still end up being a carrier for the disease. I'll post an update on this thread tomorrow.
