heartburn... yuck...

I think I am having heartburn.... I say I think because it doesn't actually hurt in my chest, but just a yucky feeling at the back of my throat. I read online that I need to be avoiding sweet stuff, greasy stuff, etc... for a couple weeks this worked, but it isn't anymore. There were so many ideas on here when everyone has morning sickness, so I just thought I'd see if anyone else is having heartburn, and what all the possible preventions are!!

I have heartburn off and on. It'll be like a burning feeling in the back of my throat and down my chest.

I just take some Tums to try and ease the pain. I eat a lot of spicy and hot foods though ha ha.

I have heartburn. Not nearly as bad this time as with DD, but it'll sneak up on me sometimes. I take Mylanta for it and if it keeps coming back after that I'll take a renatadine (Zantac) 75mg. I have permission from my OB to take Prilosec OTC and I have some, but I only take those if I feel like I'm going to just DIE of heartburn.

I take tums and if it gets really bad gaviscon. I find it is worse with tomato based foods but I love pasta etc so much I just can not avoid it.

Sounds like hearburn to me.

My favorite food is Pizza...guess what food is the ONLY food that gives me heartburn while pregnant? Yup, pizza. Needless to say I suffer through it just so I can eat it. But, I make sure I have a ton of Tums on hand. Also, if it happens when you go to bed, try sleeping sitting up or elevated a bit, that will usually help releive the burning.

I have HORRIBLE heartburn at least 3-5 times a day. I started taking Tagamet OTC per my OBs suggestion when I asked him "is it possible to take too many Tums" ROFL I have found that it helps A LOT but I still have my 4 stashes of Tums on hand (I have bottles everywhere, my desk at work, my car, my bathroom, and my bedroom)

I had it all the time with #2. Seriously sounds odd but dill pickles and pickle juice help to ease some of the discomfort. I thought the idea was weird until I tried it but it totally worked for me. Just eat one when you feel it coming on. I never took tums of anything else for it before so I can't compare how well it works to that stuff.

I need the occasional Tums myself. I am SO grateful it's not a super common occurrence for me!

I have heartburn as well and have had it almost the entire duration of this pregnancy. Then couple that with vomiting and nausea and I am one miserable pregnant lady!

I had acid reflux before I got pregnant, and of course then, I could take Prilosec. Now I just have to deal with it. I hate the taste of Tums so I only take them when I'm dieing. Anything tomato based does me in. I find that (even though I shouldnt be drinking caffiene) drinking an ice cold Coke helps with the yucky, burning feeling too. I guess the mixture of ice cold and the bite of Coke for some reason takes the yucky burn away.

I'm the type that is absolutely paranoid taking anything while pregnant, so I go for the good old natural remedies. My mom used to give us warm milk before bed when we were little to help us sleep....and I carried that with me through my adulthood. I found that it helps heartburn too! I drank warm milk while pregnant with DS to help me fall asleep and made the realization it helped hearburn too. Works like a charm for me.
