For several days now the MS has become a never-ending spiral of nonstop nausea all day and night. The night before last I woke up puking (just once) then back to bed eww
The nausea gets MUCH worse when I lay down so I haven't been getting any real sleep.
I am sooooooooooo tired.
My stomach looks like a watermelon lol
My first appointment was supposed to be on the 22nd. My car broke down on the highway and is STILL at the shop, so I had to reschedule and I won't see the midwife now till October 6th.
We are due to leave on a mini vacation on Monday/Tuesday - I am not looking forward to 10+ hours in the car with my mother and my kids and this nausea.
I hope I'm not sick this entire pregnancy like I was with my 1st ugh
Sorry for the rant. Anytime I complain or say something to DH he totally freaks out so I thought I'd complain here where I know most of you can relate! LOL
How is everyone else feeling? What things seem to help w/nausea.
For me fresh fruits (specifically apples and grapes) have helped reduce nausea at least temporarily. Crackers actually make me more nauseated! Coffee also helps, especially in the morning. Also, eating fresh cucumbers removes the nausea instantly, but the effect only lasts a few hours if I'm lucky.
I had a terrible bout of heartburn and since I couldn't get to the anti-acids I ate a bunch of pickles (since they always say adding acid removes the problem) and it worked instantly! My house is now fully stocked with all of these things so I'm hoping I can tell a different story tomorrow.
I had horrendous nausea from the point I woke up to the point I went to sleep for about a week. Then I had my doctor's appointment, she gave me a prescription for Zofran, and it changed my life!! I don't take it everyday, only on days when my nausea is really intolerable (which is rare these days, thank goodness!), but when I've needed it it's done WONDERS.
That sounds awful. I hope it subsides for you soon.
That's awful. Honestly for me nothing has made a difference w/ my vomiting & nausea. It's all very random when I'm actually feeling like I can eat & keep food down and mostly happens at night. I end up regretting it the next morning because everything comes right back up. No foods or avoidance of certain foods help. Any difference in smell can cause me to vomit. My meds don't work, and making sure I'm never on an empty stomach doesn't either. Sometimes I'm okay when I'm sleep, but a lot of times I end up waking up out of my sleep. It's crazy.
I've just been real moody lately ha ha. And my boobs have been killing me.
My nausea has seemed to calm down for the most part, but then again it did this another time too and about 2 weeks later it came back horribly. I haven't vomited yet, but I've come close. Laying down helped me, but you said that made it worse for you. Have you tried propping pillows under your head do you're not completely flat on your back?
Eating salads helped me for the most part when I was really nauseous. Although the last time I ate one I ended up wanting to throw up so I stopped eating it and haven't eaten any since ha ha. Although it may have been because I had Italian dressing instead of my usual ranch and that caused bad heartburn.
Like I said earlier, I've just been real moody. Anything my husband does I snap at him for. But I SWEAR sometimes he does things just to annoy me. Ha ha. Right now he has holed himself up in our room playing video games to stay out of my wrath ha ha. And my boobs hurt just when anything touched them, esp the nipples (sorry TMI). Changing shirts and bras kills me. Gah.
I hope you start feeling better soon! When I had called the dr about being constantly nauseous (I couldn't move without wanting to throw up) they suggested I try Unisom and B6 and it worked for about 2 days then I was back to wanting to always throw up. That works for some people, but not for me. I'm just hoping everything balances out in the 2nd trimester!

crystallized ginger (or ginger ale, if you like it) helps. I have a little spice jar of it next to my bed. It was $12.. :-\ but worth it, when the idea of eating saltines makes me want to gag.
As for my crappy feeling - My nausea is gone for the most part, but I have been SO SO tired! I slept about 7 hours last night. Whoops - mostly because I have a weird set of insomnia symptoms when pregnant.. and then after getting home from church this morning, if my kids didn't have a friend over to play, I would have taken a nap by now. My next term of college classes starts tomorrow too. This is about to be an adventure and a half!
Wow, sounds like you're not only feeling bad, but have a whole bunch of bad mishaps. Hope your trip ends up being fun and you can enjoy the time with your family.
Yesterday was my worst day yet. I actually threw up. That was NO fun. Then right after I threw up my palms and feet started itching so bad I had to take a Benadryl. Well, then I was asleep from 7pm and didn't wake up until DD got up this morning at 7am. Hey, at least I got 12 full hours of sleep! I couldn't tell you the last time that happened. Just hope that was my one and only time throwing up because I HATE IT!

Crystallized Ginger - I will try that!!! I love ginger ale but I can't handle the carbonation and I absolutely despise hot ginger tea LOL
Thanks for all the suggestions!!
I did a lot better today. I changed my prenatals a few days ago and decided to start taking them later in the day yesterday and today and so far I've had a lot less nausea today. Only two bouts where I swear I was going to cry because the thought of feeling that crappy for hours was making me freak but it went away!!!
As far as Zofran, I'm just not willing to risk it and I'm really surprised OB's are prescribing it. It's a nausea medicine given to cancer patients on chemo/radiation and one of the things the oncologist talked to us about with this medicine when my dad was on it was that it could cause slow heart rate, arrhythmia, and seizures in some patients so we were told to monitor him closely for it -- (and he DID have arrhythmia's from it and had to be taken off of it) It has never been tested on pregnant women, and after all the birth defects caused by untested anti-nausea drugs in the late 70's and early 80's I'm very weary of it, especially since it does cross the placenta and transfers through breast milk in rats. Not trying to scare anyone though I do hope the OB's have discussed that side effects in pregnant women and their babies is unknown.
Jennifer! I'm sorry to hear you had such a terrible day! Glad you got 12hrs of sleep though, I am sure your body is very grateful for that!
Well, I promise that if I find anything that works to get rid of the nausea for me I will share!
KET - The salad thing works for me on occasion too, but I can't put any dressings on it or anything or it makes it worse. I can only use some salt and oil and my stomach seems to be particular about what vegetables to eat when. I too am being really moody. I freaked out on the Kohl's cashier today when I went to buy some maternity clothes because I had my husbands card and since I decided to keep my own last name they didn't want to take his card even though I shop there a lot and I showed them my daughters social security card which does show his last name. I was just furious over it! It just seems like this week has been overly complicated and I just wanted to buy some pants so I don't have to wear these stupid sweat pants anymore. Needless to say they called in the manager and she let me buy my clothes but I was a total ***** and the poor woman was just doing her job.
Okay, I have to finish my homework and pack since I won't be able to pack tomorrow before we leave. Taking a mini-vacation shouldn't take this much work LOL
I hope we all start feeling better now that we're all getting to two digits (YAY!!!). My nausea seemed to be much better yesterday but today it was BAD again, I'm also extremely tired today, can't barely keep my eyes open. Can't wait to feel normal again!
