So a friend of mine, (actually a girl I used to work with) now has a photography business. I was thinking of contacting her for maternity pictures this time. I didn't do any maternity shots last time, and I thought it might be cute to do them this time with DD. I could get DH in them too. I'm just not sure if I could get DH to in on the cost. . .
HERE is a link to her website.
The cost would be about $100 dollars for the lowest priced package.
Reminder: Nobody in this house is presently employed, but DH will be in January.
She has awesome pics! Would she give you a discount?? Never hurts to ask right lol
She does really good pics! Maybe DH or a family member can do that for a gift too? That way you can have some and if family wants they can too.
And I agree, you can ask for a discount I'm sure. Never hurts!

Since you're also friends outside of a business deal, might she consider a 3-4 part payment plan, while you're easing into a different financial situation? I haven't ever had maternity photos done - most of it was because I was more concerned with how I looked (huge!!), but also because my first husband was constantly and secretly spending money, so we could never even pay bills. Looking back on it, I am sad that I didn't have as much time and resources to prepare for my first 2. If it's something you want to do, I think it would be worth it!
I don't think it's going to happen. It would be a fight to get DH on board with the idea and we've been pretty snappy with each other lately anyway. Not to mention that I doubt she's the type to give me a discount just because we used to be friends. The only professional pictures I've ever had were in high school when my BFF's boyfriend paid for them. I didn't even have a professional photographer for my wedding. I didn't get maternity pictures with DD so I guess it's only right that I don't get any with this one either.
Just an idea
Go on craigslist and look for a new photographer, most of the times when photographers are just starting you can get some great deals while they are building their portfolio. While I was building my portfolio I was giving away sessions just to get a few sessions under my belt.
DH would never go for that. He has a thing about strangers and online stuff. Besides that, our local Craigslist totally sucks, they almost never have anything.
Just looked. The only photographer listing in in a town 2 hours away and they still want $75. I hate our local craigslist.
