My crazy kid...

My crazy four year old has decided that she is giving a gift to Santa. So she has wrapped up one of her good stuffies, and put it under the tree with a note that says "SNTA COS THIS IS FR U".

What do I do??? I don't want to give away her stuffy, I don't want her to be disappointed because Santa didn't want her gift, she will notice if I put it away for a couple months and then sneak it back into the toy box...

I tried saying that if every kid gave Santa a gift then it would be too many for her so maybe we could give some gifts to kids who don't have lots of toys... and she agreed, but said she is still giving that one to Santa.

Any ideas??

Write her a letter from Santa,

Like thank you so much for the gift but I would hate to accidentally give it to another child. Would you please do me the honor of keeping ___ in a safe place and loving him/her for me?

I was going to say the same thing as Kelly. Attach a note from Santa to the gift saying how much he appreciated her kindness and that it's just more proof of what a good girl she is, but that he knows its one of her favorite toys and it would make him happier to see her continue to enjoy it. That is so sweet though!

That is so sweet of her! I agree about writing a thank you letter. Tell her how thoughtful and wonderful she is for doing that.

I don't know what to tell you about what to do with it though! Esp since you said she would notice if you gave it to her later (like around Easter, or when LO is born?)

Another idea would be to take it on that night and then package it up on Monday & send it back to her through the mail. You could wrap it all festive & include a note describing the toys sleigh ride & weekend with Santa. Then have Santa say thank you for sharing but that the toy is best kept with her so it isn't missed. She'd probably be thrilled that Santa borrowed it & the toy would still stay with you guys I'm the end. Kinda adds to the magic.

I LOVE this idea!!! You could include details of the adventure the toy had traveling with Santa on Christmas night, but that is missed her and wanted to come home.
