Sick While In Labor?

I'm 2 weeks shy of my due date and am getting sick. I've had a sore throat all day and am feeling extremely exhausted and run down. Just wondering-- have any of you ever been sick during labor? I keep thinking how if this gets any worse I can't even imagine enduring labor at the same time-- as if labor alone doesn't take everything out of you! In the meantime, I'm just praying I'll get over this quickly and will be healthy by the time baby comes, but I was curious as to whether anyone has experience with that.

Oh No I hope you feel better soon.

I had strep throat while in labor with my daughter. She ended up being born with a fever due to my sickness and had to be kept in the NICU for 12 hours.

Yuck. How did your illness affect your labor, pain-wise? Did it make contractions harder to deal with or did the pains of labor override your sickness? I suppose if you had an epidural, that might change things too.

My labor and delivery was 18 hours with her but I ended up delivering her all natural, I don't think it was any worse then it was with my son. My sinus's are bothering me right now and I can't imagine what it will be like on Wednesday trying to labor while having issues breathing.

Sad Hope you get better! My oldest DD gave me a stomach bug 5 days before my scheduled c-section with my second DD. We were in bed vomiting for 2.5 days, and I barely felt like I had recovered in time for delivery. Constant vomiting at 9 months is MISERABLE! I could not imagine being ill during labor though. :bigarmhug:

I had a cold just before laboring with DS... I definitely feel that it played a part in my exhaustion. It was a 48 hour labor at home before we transferred for a c/s. Rest, rest, rest!! Even if you think you might be starting labor, make yourself rest some more. Have you heard of those Emergen-C packets? I would take a couple of those a day as well.

GL mama, I hope you kick it before baby decides to come!
