    Default solids

what do the babies eat? And how do they like?

I didn't start Adam till recently (he just didn't seem interested)

    Tried sweet potato (hated).
Eats carrot (he'll eat but not bothered)
Eats peas (doesn't care but I can get some into him)
Cereal (seems to like the best)

I really need to add more food haha

eta: and how many meals/day do they eat solid?
I have been giving just at dinner but I'm going to give him breakfast today

I refuse to do rice cereal at all. It's pure glucose in the baby's system and they can't properly digest it and studies have shown a correlation to obesity later on. And studies have never been able to show any positive relationship between rice cereal and better sleep, so I just choose to not use it at all for those reasons.

Kole doesn't like baby food much at all. He will occasionally let me feed him a bit of peas or sweet potatoes, but most everything seems to get spit back out. I was thinking he just didn't know what to do and wasn't getting the eating thing, but he eats yogurt like a champ so I started trying out table food, and he LOVES it.

He also loves to feed himself, so I just tear chicken up in tiny pieces and put them on his high chair tray. He also eats spaghetti, broccoli, asparagus and pretty much anything we eat. DD was completely different and would not take to table food for a while, and seems to still not take to table food! Toddler!

Desmond really likes his puff things Gerber makes ha ha.
He also will eat sweet potatoes, carrots, he loves green beans, apples, and his favorite is banana. Every morning he eats 1/2 a banana if we're out of BM pancakes Oh and he really likes cantaloupe too.

He goes back and forth if he eats 2-3 times a day with solid foods.

He hates avocado lol. Although if I mix it with a fruit he will eat it.

He is iffy about squash and zucchini and eggplant.

Lucas is a hog. He will eat pretty much any baby food we put in his mouth, with the exception of peas, unless they are mixed with something else.

He eats 3 meals a day, in addition to breastfeeding. We try to balance it out with a fruit, veggie and meat each day. He's eating pretty much everything under the sun. He still chokes on the Gerber puffs, but he just got his first tooth yesterday, so I'm sure table food will be soon.

We completely skipped baby food... Around 5 months, Heidi started sitting in her high chair during meals just to be with us, one breakfast my husband just threw on some Cheerios on her tray to keep her busy, and she picked them up and started eating!!! Now she eats whatever we eat. So for breakfast she has had scrambled eggs, Cheerios, Shreddies, waffles, pancakes... For lunch she usually has a grilled cheese, or cheese and crackers along with some steamed veggies. For dinner she has had porkchops, sausages, roast or whatever meat we are having, pasta or potatoes and again some veggies.

She is totally and completely against pureed food... I gave her applesauce the other day and the only way I could get it into her was by tickling her and making her smile so that she would open her mouth. Usually as soon as she sees the spoon coming, she clamps her mouth shut... no way am I getting it in!!

I know that we are breaking alot of the "rules" for feeding babies, but she loves eating, doesn't choke and seems to be doing well to me!!

Only two teeth still, but she is doing amazing gumming through everything! Our next challenge is drinking from a cup.

Wow, that is an amazing amount of food!

Archer is the youngest of my kiddos that I've started solids with and he is a piggy. He eats solids 3 times each day and nurses a ton between those times. I've been doing purees a lot longer than both my other boys since he is much younger than they were when we started food. Seems like they went from purees to finger food instantly. While he is starting to pick up food with his hands he has a long way to go to actually get it to his mouth and release it from his hand. We do all veggies and fruits, lots of different mixes of stuff. I don't introduce grains until closer to a year and hold off on meats until well after a year (or two) just on personal preference. I do start adding in tofu at around 10 months.

So far the only thing that hasn't gone over well was broccoli as it gave him painful gas. The same happens when I eat it and he gets it through BM. So odd. Haven't tried out berries yet either (out of season here) and will hold off on tomato and citrus as well.

Kole has no teeth at all and does well with small bite of solid table food. And who cares about the rules? They are our kids. You are her mom and therefore you get to decide what she eats. Nobody knows her better than you and just because 'someone' out there decided babies need to start with purees doesn't mean you have to do it if your kid hates them. Kole isn't particularly fond of them either and prefers to feed himself. Screw the rules! She's doing great and is getting good, and real, nutritious food! That's what's important.

Emma does not love eating but she is getting better. Even has started opening her mouth. She loves fruit, hates peas, does not mind other veggies, beans, squash etc. I do not give straight cereal but I mix it in with the other food to thicken it to a better consistency. She usually gets 2-3 meals a day and maybe a baby mum mum. We are only nursing about 50% of the time now, otherwise she gets formula.
