Surgery on Friday

Sorry I haven't been keeping up much lately.

For the most part, it's because I've been unsure how much information that I want to divulge about Elijah's surgery on Friday. He will be having plastic surgery to fix some external issues with his man parts. Essentially, there isn't enough of an opening for urine to come out. Everything is trapped inside essentially by a wall of skin. I don't want to go into too much detail, because this is a public forum, but I decided I was ready to share.

I'm really anxious about it, even though I've known it would happen from the day he was born. They typically wait until 6 months, for the best results. He'll have to be under general anesthesia and then using narcotic pain medicine afterward. Sad We had no plans to even circ, and this is like 10 times as invasive. I could just use some thoughts and prayers, because it's going to be hard letting my little man go into an OR, and then seeing him in pain and drugged after.

Oh my gosh!! I am so sorry that you and Elijah have to go through that! I can't even imagine sending my baby off to surgery like that. Can you be in the OR with him? Please, KUP on how he is doing. I'm very curious to know more, but I completely understand about your concerns in a public forum and won't ask you to share more that what you are comfortable with.

Please post an update though after surgery to let us know how it went and how you are all doing. I will keep your sweet little man in my prayers.

I am soooooo sorry you and he and your family is going through this. How scary!

Please KUP on how things are with him AND you! I can't even imagine how scary that must be. He is in my T&Ps as are you and the rest of your family.

awww poor baby boy Sad
i'm upset just thinking that my 5yr old only "might" need very simple procedure (but requiring anesthesia) I would be a mess thinking about Adam needing it.

Thoughts with you all on Friday, kup

Little man is doing awesome Smile It was great to be able to nurse him closer to surgery and immediately after, as a comfort to him, and to his mama! He's recovering really well and doesn't seem like he's in much pain at all. I have only been giving him half the dose of pain meds, and he's only seemed fussy once. I

Whenever I've given Desmond medicine, I also only give him a little and not the full dose ha. I'm glad Elijah isn't in much pain (or doesn't seem like it)!

Glad to hear that he is doing well! And you are too, it is never easy to send them in to surgery even when you know it is the right thing to do. Hopefully he heals quickly!

Anna- Eli is doing great! Smile All but one stitch has fallen out, and he will look like a "normal" circ'ed boy when he's older.. even though it wasn't actually a circ. His recovery went really well, and now that he's figured out he has man-parts, he's very interested in checking it all out. The joys of having a boy for the first time.. lol. Anyway.. I just randomly come on to see what everyone is up to, and I'm glad I did today. Smile I've been working part-time, doing school, making Halloween costumes, etc. and just too stinkin busy!

Yay! Thanks for checking in, I've been wondering about him! Kole likes to grab and pull on his boy parts, DH thinks it hilarious. It's totally different having a boy than having a girl.

I'm glad that he's going to look like a perfectly normal boy. I know you were planning on leaving him uncirc'd, and I know the whole ordeal was traumatic for you, so I'm glad that everything is okay and he's doing good.

I had to chime in and say, Desmond loves grabbing his junk and pulling. He usually laughs as he does it. And most times when I change his diaper, he immediately reaches down to grab lol.

I'm glad he's doing so well Amanda! Thanks for the update. Smile
