What is wrong with me?!

So today is my DD2's bday. She's two. Well she's been real picky about sweets and since DD1 just had a cake for her bday and then cupcakes the next week for her party and next month DH has a bday we try not to always do cake!

Anyway, so I found a recipe online for brownies and kept looking at it to make sure I had everything. I found it was a little weird the recipe called for "white vinegar" but kept thinking oh well, people are saying it's real good. Plus I kept thinking it's a good thing I had all the ingredients. After making the batter, it really really really thin and I couldn't understand why. I went back to my lap top and read it AGAIN and say that it did NOT say 1 cup white vinegar, but 1 cup white SUGAR!

HOW did I manage to get vinegar from sugar?!!! Is this happening to anyone else?

Don't worry, I dumped that out and made another batch, with sugar this time and the brownie batter looks much better and is baking now. But seriously I have no idea how I mixed that up!

Thank goodness you doublechecked. I can't imagine eating a brownie with no sugar and vinegar instead. Yuck! Smile

I can say I haven't done that but I have a pile of post it notes that I wrote so I didn't forget something, but I wasn't specific enough and now I don't remember what they were supposed to remind me.

Ah, we ate the brownies and they were awesome. So glad they were made with sugar and not vinegar! I'm starting to fear what's going to happen on Thanksgiving now! Ha ha!

I get the pregnancy brain myself. I lose words, can't figure out how to explain myself, etc. Can be VERY frustrating sometimes!

Nothing is wrong with you. You're pg, but that isn't wrong. I have dyslexic moments like that all the time, even when I'm not pg. . . Biggrin At least you caught it before you baked it!

You are fine, our body is just busy doing what it needs to do with our wee ones. It can't be bothered with little things like vinegar vs sugar! Blum 3

The brownies were awesome too. They were so gooey in the middle and baked awesomely ha ha.

Here's the recipe if anyone wants it. And remember it's SUGAR and not vinegar ha ha!!!

1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
In a medium bowl, mix together the oil, sugar, and vanilla. Beat in eggs. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt; gradually stir into the egg mixture until well blended. Stir in walnuts, if desired. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the brownie begins to pull away from edges of pan. Let cool on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
