Yes.. Another contraction thread.. Really need advice

So yesterday I had my first real contraction, it lasted between 3-5 minutes and basically felt like diarrhea cramps without any output, if you know what I mean. So tonight in the past 20 minutes I've had those same diarrhea type cramps without actually feeling the need to "go". The first one seemed to last about 5 minutes, then a couple minutes later it felt like I got another one, it lasted maybe a minute or two. They almost se continuous or something. My stomach is also sore so that's not helping trying to figure these things out. Please help!

I would call your doc if it stays the same for at least an hour or two. Even if they say it's not a big deal, it's better to let them know what's going on & have peace of mind. Smile

I love contraction threads lol.

But I agree with Amanda. If they continue, esp with such intensity, then I would call your OB and see what they say. It could just be your body preparing you for actual labor. I've heard of that happening. Plus I sort of had the same thing happen over the weekend where it kept me up all night (although this lasted about 4 hours and then began to taper off and then just stopped) and I think a lot of it was my body getting ready for the real thing.

Also, you may end up having a BM soon, because I know sometimes my stomach will cramp up for a while before I'm able to go.

KUP on how things go and if you call your OB or if they stop.

After I posted I got up (was laying down) and sat on my yoga ball and DH rubbed my back and they stopped. I haven't had a BM yet, actually don't think I've had one all day. I'm laying in bed and I've had a couple of small ones but nothing as bad as earlier. I see my OB tomorrow morning so I'm just gonna ask about them then. Now I'm just trying to get comfortable in bed, that will probably take a couple of hours. Yuck.

Isn't it weird that when your have contractions they say to lay on your left side and sometimes that seems to make it worse? Ha that's how it's been for me!

If you're still uncomfortable, take a warm bath to see if that helps and make sure you're well hydrated. Hope they stop so you can get some good sleep!

Well, sleep sounds really nice to me, but apparently this little girl has something different in mind. Shes moving around like a crazy baby, when i lay on my side I get heartburn even after taking a Nexium, and when I lay on my back I start getting really bad cramps in my lower back! So I'm resorting to eating a popsicle and perusing the internet while watching Bee Movie. Hmph

I hope you got some sleep last night.

Have you had a BM yet? If not I would talk to your dr about taking stool softeners. Contractions don't usually last for 5 minutes. Real contraction's usually last 30 second - 90 seconds.

I hope you get a chance to get some rest. It sounds like your body is getting ready to have that baby girl and if you start to have regular contractions you can't stop you'll want to be well rested for what's to come.

I get excited every time I see a contraction thread now. I'm excited that we are already starting to meet our LO's!!

I finally went to bed around 3 and then had to get up at 7:30, not fun. I havent had a BM yet, which isnt usually wierd for me. What's wierd is that all week I have been having very loose BM's 2-3 times a day; it's very possible though that something was going on in there but didnt want to come out. Sorry for the TMI. Anna, even being a FTM, I knew that contractions arent supposed to last 5 minutes, but I'm just confused as to what's causing the pain. It's all very strange to me. LOL I see the Dr in a few hours, so hopefully we can figure out what it was then.

I hope that you have had some change and all of that was for nothing. I hope your dr can give you some answers. You sound like me when it comes to the BM thing. Usually around this part of the pregnancy things start coming out a little loose.
