Thread: 14 weeks appt today

So had my 14 weeks appt today. I'm up two pounds..well one is if you want to count that I lost a lb last appt and had to gain that back, but whichever. My blood pressure was 140/80, the nurse didn't like it but the doctor said it was alright. My temp was 99.3 and I guess they took that because I did the flu shot. The doctor went over the ultrasound results and said everything was good and where it should be. He is keeping my due date for April 17th. He used the dopplar and as soon as he put it on my belly he found the heartbeat, didn't even have to move it. He only kept it on there for like 3 seconds so we didn't get a count, but it was strong loud and really fast.
I go back in two weeks to have more blood work done. I guess they do this test between 16 and 18 weeks and they do it for everyone. They are testing for the trisomy 18, downs and others stuff. I'm not too happy about having to have this as I don't want the added possible stress this will cause but it doesn't look like he's giving me a choice so it is what it is. So I go back on November 6 for the blood work and they say the results come back in just a couple of days so by the end of that week we should know something. Doctor and nurse said they call no matter what the results come back as so not to freak out if we have a missed call from the,. But other than that the doctor is happy with everything and says all is good, so I guess i'm good.

Glad you had a good appt. The MW offered me that blood test yesterday and I declined. I'm a chronic worrier, so .. I don't want anything else to worry about. Good luck!

Glad that you had a good appt and got to hear the h/b. That is the best sound ever. I haven't decided yet if I am going to do that screening because I know that if it came back with anything bad I would freak!

Happy to hear you had a great appointment! Well hopefully the genetic testing will all come back with good results and will put your mind at ease. I denied all testing, I wonder why your doc didn't give you that option.

remember that you don't have to do everything he doctor tells you to. if you don't want the testing done than don't do it! it should be your decision because its your baby and your body. glad everything looks good!

This! Its your body and your baby. If you are not comfortable with it, then refuse. He can't force you to do it. I am not doing the testing and also did not with my DD. My OB mentioned it to me at my first appointment for this pregnancy and was almost apologetic about bringing it up at all as she knew I wouldn't want it but she was required to at least offer.
