    Default 25 week appointment

Last week I had my 25 week appointment with my midwife's new nurse midwife that will have to deliver my baby because I'm a VBAC. I don't like her nearly as much as my regular midwife, but that's ok. She seems more "medical" and not as lax about things. My weight was up - I've gained 16 lbs so far! So she told me to try cutting back on carbs and I *know* I need to exercise because I totally stopped when I got pregnant and was feeling crappy. So that sort of stresses me out; usually I gain about 20-25 lbs total.
Anyway, she said the baby is head down right now, and face up which is the position my babies like to lay in! At about 35 weeks I'll probably start going to the chiro to get baby to turn so he/she isn't posterior. But that explains why I feel so many kicks and jabs right about my belly button.
Then we talked about the glucose test which is funny because I was just telling DH that it's so nice that I don't have to do it; my midwife always gave me the option but said it wasn't necessary for me because I don't have any of the signs of it. However, this time around this new nurse midwife said I should do it... and my regular midwife also said it's good to do it just to have my i's dotted and t's crossed for everything. Anyway, so they sent me home with a bottle of bright orange stuff to drink before I come next time. Joy! And this baby isn't a huge sweets fan so I know I'll probably feel so crappy afterward! Hopefully I pass; this whole gaining lots of weight thing is a little scary for me...
I did step on the scale the other day and weighed *less* than I did at the appt so maybe I'm losing a bit after the holidays?

    So anyway, that's my update!

Sounds like a great appointment! I keep reading by now that most women have gained 15-20 lbs, so I don't think that your 16 lb weight gain sounds totally unreasonable, but I'm sure that keeping your weight gain in check will also make it easy to take it off later. Ugh, sorry you have to do the GD test. I hope that you pass! It's good to know though - I don't really have any of the symptoms of GD as far as excessive weight gain and things like that, so you can still have it without showing a ton of symptoms. Sounds like you'll probably pass though. When do you have to go in for the test?

Good luck with the test! I think it's funny some offices send you home with that stuff to drink - my OB office had it in the fridge and sat there and stared at me - apparently you have to drink it within five minutes. I guess my office doesn't trust people to really do that...haha

Mine was the same way! You have to drink it within 5 minutes, and then they watch you to make sure you don't drink any water or do anything else but sit there. LOL Not very trusting....

The glucose test isnt so bad. I thought it tasted like orange soda, and I like orange soda, so to me it was kind of a tasty treat since I havent had any soda since becoming pregnant.

16 lbs seems totally normal. Ive gained 13lbs and finally they are happy with my weight gain. For the longest I was only a couple of pounds over my pre pregnancy weight and it was concerning them. So funny how every practioner does things differently.

How can they tell the baby is facing out? I always find this incredible. My midwife told me that bubs is in the exact position he was in during my 20 week ultrasound...which is head in my right hip, legs below my left rib cage. So kind of diagonal. Im just shocked she can tell by feeling around.

Sorry you have to do the glucose test but hopefully you will pass. I'm always amazed too that they can tell the baby's position by feeling around-I can't feel anything when I try to (gently) poke around.

Yeah, she showed me where the head was - put my hands on either side - and I felt it but then I went home and tried to do the same thing and couldn't feel a thing. Figures!
I'm pretty sure I feel feet kicking me though, and I think the little feelings down low are hands/fingers but otherwise I'm pretty clueless.

I go this Wednesday for my glucose test. They sent me home with the stuff and I have 5 minuets to drink it. Only problem is I have to make sure i'm at the dr's office before my one hour is up so they can do blood and my appt. I would almost rather do it all at the appt. Mine is supposed to be like a Sprite flavor just kind of flat, so we will see. I had the orange drink with DS.

I'm sorry you have to take the test this time. Hope you pass!
