3 hr test

So, when I took the one hour test, I drank the stuff...sat around...wanted to fall asleep.. got my blood drawn, everything was fine.. But on the way home I started feeling pretty crummy - I stopped and ate a little bit and that helped. By that night, I was doing fine (except my stomach hurt and I threw up, BUT that's kinda normal for me).

I have to do the 3 hr test tomorrow. I can't eat before (I didn't eat anything but a piece of bread before the one hour one, which they said was fine)...but I'm concerned about AFTER I drink that stuff. I've read horror stories about going into sugar shock or puking all over the floor or whatever...

Has anyone gone through this that can give me some insight about how they felt through the process?

I did it with T. By the end, I got a bad headache (I think because it raises your blood sugar so high - especially if you actually do have GD like me - and then drops it even lower) but I didn't puke or go into shock or anything like that.

I just felt crummy most of the day, but not too ill so I couldn't work. I also have GD so that is most likely why I felt so bad.
I had it done at around 16 weeks, and I was very sick every morning anyway.

I would suggest bringing a protein snack (i.e. cheese, or Peanut butter) to eat as soon as you are done.

Good luck!

I don't think I did the three hour test, just the one hour test. I agree with bringing a protein snack to eat. Gook luck, I hope it goes ok!

I just did it Saturday and was fine. The first hour after I drank the drink I felt a ill rush but then I was ok. I had peanut butter crackers at the end and drove home fine for lunch. I felt ok all day but my stomach was a little off

I did the 3 hr with DS. It wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. If you're concerned, you may want to have someone who can drive you that day.

All done! You guys were right, that first hour I was like..omg don't get sick..omg don't get sick, but after that first hour I was okay. I was hungry when I left and like Alissa said, I had a headache. I stopped and got something to eat on the way home, which ended up being not what I ordered so I threw half of it away.. But I feel okay, except for the headache right now.

Drink lots of water and take some Tylenol (it's safe during pregnancy.) Good luck, I hope you passed!!!!! When will you know? Some people get their results back really fast, but my drs office always takes a couple of days.
