*whew* I'm glad everything is doing good! You and I always have the same doc appt days LOL I, however, am going to have to reschedule mine for Friday so that they can come in and finish doing the roof (which they were supposed to finish last Friday, but I won't go into that now.)
What does a contraction feel like? I'm having so much pain down there some days, it's hard to tell what's going on. Other days, I'm completely fine. I know you can't wait until Rocket is here!!! And I'm super jealous your last day at work is today. DH had told me that I can come out whenever I want if it gets to be too much, but since I can't get covered until the baby is born with short term dis - I'm going to wobble into work as long as I can. I actually spoke with my boss today about my last day. I told my STD holder (which is Cigna, whom I despise) has my last day for work April the 4th, one day before my due date. I said, in a perfect world, I'd work that day and have the baby the next and be out for six weeks after that. But, it's not a perfect world and she's gonna come when she wants to come, unless she likes it wayyyyy to much in there and they have to induce me. I have NOT given any thought to the idea that she might come late because that just makes me sad to even think about it LOL Anyway, my point is - he kept asking me what day is my last day and I kept telling him that depends when she comes. I told him I have weekly doc appts and will know more when (IF) they check me and I'm progressing or not. I know he wants a set date, but I just can't give him one right now.
LOL Jessica, your boss sounds soooo clueless about pregnancy and pregnant women in general. If you are going to be working until your due date, there is just literally no way to give an exact date unless you are scheduled for an induction or a c-section, and even then you could go early. What a goof! I hope that you are able to stay as comfortable as possible over the next couple of weeks if Julie decides to stay put.
IME contractions hurt, but they come and go in waves instead of being just a constant pain. People also say that they have a "pushing down" feeling, but I'll be honest and say that I don't really remember that from when T was born, and I haven't felt that this time so far, although I'm fairly sure that I have had BH contractions at the very least.
Alissa, glad things are going well for you and yay for being off work!
Jessica, it's like a period cramp, only they get worse and start spreading more throughout your midsection. They aren't constant; like Alissa said they come in waves and are lighter and more spread out at the beginning of labor and then as it progresses, they get longer and closer together and stronger.
Yep, baby could come "late"! Just remember: late is a relative term when it comes to babies. They usually come from 2 weeks before to 2 weeks after their due date. Just try to take it one day at a time and if your due date comes and goes, try to stay away from induction as much as you can (if you want to - just because it can lead to other things and has a higher chance of c-section). I would think by the time your due date comes, you should just stop working so you can focus on getting things ready for baby.
Of course everything is up to you though - you're the mama!
