Default Appt today and a new pain!!

So, this "new" pain developed while I was in bed. I noticed if I lay on my right side, right above my leg/bottom of my hip would start hurting pretty bad, but when I turned back over it went away. It felt kind of like it fell asleep, like something had cut off the circulation. But like I said, I'd just turn around and it'd go away. Well, today it hasn't gone away. It HURTS. Like, all the time.

So, I get to the doctor and I have gained SEVEN POUNDS in 2 weeks! She didn't say anything about it - and I'm totally going with it was so much because it was raining outside and my sweatshirt (a heavy one anyway) got soaked and I was still wearing it when I got weighed. So, heavy wet clothes has to equal at least five pounds.. Right?? RIGHT????? She told me I was dehydrated (that's a big surprise... not..). I told her about the pain on my leg/hip. She said the baby is probably laying on my sciatic nerve. She took the heartbeat and measured me, but didn't tell me what the numbers were. She did the GBS thingy. Totally over-worried about THAT one. What an easy test!
I told her I was going to see my mom next week and she was really on the fence about if I should go or not - just in case labor happens while I'm there. I really really want to spend some time ALONE with my mom before the baby comes, and this will be the only time I get to go. She said she wasn't going to recommend going, but she wasn't going to say absolutely not, either. So, fingers crossed I don't go into labor there!

So then I went to DMV. I don't know about you ladies, but the DMV is always packed with people and everyone is really rude and short tempered. Well, when I moved to this po-dunk city a few years ago I found out about a DMV that's pretty close to me and they are NEVER packed and they're always really nice. So, I had a nice - easy transaction. Whew, glad it's over with! I had spent a lot of time getting everything together, making sure I had all the paperwork and ...she didn't even ask for it..haha.

I'm sorry that you have been in pain! Ugh, I think that having a baby laying on your sciatic sounds soooo painful. I don't know if that is what has caused any of my recent aches and pains, but it sure sounds awful.

LOL I am absolutely confident that a wet sweatshirt adds at least 5 lbs. What made me laugh is that you didn't take it off. I seriously feel the urge to take off everything that might add extra weight when I get weighed. Shoes and coat come off (in fairness, they ask you to take your shoes and coat off, so that's not just my own vanity) and then if I'm wearing like a big heavy sweater over a thinner T shirt, that comes off in the waiting room. I would seriously probably take off my jewelry if I didn't think the nurse would laugh at me. Vanity, thy name is Alissa.

Does your mom live close to a hospital, even if it is not the hospital where you planned to deliver?

    Thanks ladies!

Alissa, she lives about 45 minutes away from a hospital. Which is about how far away the hospital I want to deliver at is from me. (depends on who drives, as to how far it is. I have this horrible notion that DH will drive me to the hospital like we're in some race...OMG I get freaked out thinking about it ...)

Can I just say that it is SUPER windy here? Wanna know what happened last time it was super windy? Yeah - tree fell on the house, rolled off and crushed my heat pump. Every time it picks up, I tense up waiting for huge crash. When I grow up (haha) I'm totally moving to a house with no trees (or...at least not the 40 feet pine trees this guy has alllll around the house)

So okay, it would kind of suck to have to deliver at a different hospital without your MW, but at least realistically you're not really any worse off (as far as, I don't know, having to give birth in the car or something LOL) than you would be at home. I think what you should do is request a copy of your file from your MW's office before you leave. Then, throw it in your car "just in case"; that way if worst comes to worst and you DO go into labor while you're at your mom's, you will be able to give the doctor at the new hospital all of your records. Haha, sounds like you might be safer having your mom drive you to the hospital anyway.

Ugh, I'm sure it's worrisome to have it be so windy after what happened last time. I would be freaked too! I hope it dies down soon.

Hope you get some relief from that pain ... sounds miserable. Some of that weight is definitely from a soaked sweatshirt!!! I'm suprised they didn't ask you to take that off. Good luck with your visit this weekend, I hope you make it there and back with no signs of labor!

LOL about the soaked sweatshirt! I would say that added quite a bit as well!
I hope your visit goes well and that you don't go into labor! Does yours or DH's family have any history of early babies?

Vicki - nope. Well, my mom had my older brother at 32 weeks, but - to be fair, she didn't know she was pregnant until 28 weeks and had been on "start your period" drugs the entire pregnancy, so...her going early was a bit of a one off. I was 40 weeks and so was my younger brother. DH's fam went at 39w and some change.

Sciatic pain is the worse!! And it can come on at any moment. When i was pregnant with my DS I could be walking and all of a sudden he would shift onto it and I could not even continue to walk, I would freeze and start crying it hurt so much. When it happens girl slowly stretch into odd positions until baby moves off of it. Good luck hopefully baby wont find that position again!!

I hear sciatic pain is pretty awful. Sorry you are in pain. So when are you visiting your mom? Are you just going for the day or staying awhile?
