Joan I have not mastered nursing in a carrier yet although I might try that if I need to! Usually if I have to nurse and do something else I just tote him around with one hand.
Orientation went well! M is really excited to go back, his teacher seems really excited. Plus DH feels a little more prepared and not anxious. I did almost start crying though; I think I might cry on Tuesday when we drop him off!!
Also, I've been able to EBF J for over a week now with no supplements!!! I'm SUPER excited about this as he is eating faster now (20-30 min instead of 45+) and I'm more confident. I have weighed him though and it seems like he's not gaining much lately BUT he tends to stay at the same weight for awhile and then suddenly jump up so hopefully that's the case. He goes to the doctor next week so we'll see what their scale says.
Elizabeth I like to read anything and everything lately. This week for vacation I loaded up on chick lit easy reads lol. We just pretty much finished packing everything. So much crap!!! Vacation with kids is so much harder when they are little. Pack n plays and all that fun stuff! I will say we are more condensed and organized than in the past.
I am super stressed tonight. I get like this every year because staying with my in laws is a pain. I love them to death it then I get super frustrated. My sis in law is a passive aggressive beast lately and she goes with us. And my mil defends them no matter what. So last week my babysitter/close family friend asked if she could see the girls one night this week because she leaves for college when we get back. So I was like want to do thurs so I can take a spin class. So we scheduled that last Wednesday. Well on mon my other sis in law texted and asked if she could watch them thurs to help me while I pack well I told her DD has dance then camp til 12:15. She responded ok no problem. So last night I posted on fb got a babysitter so I could go to spin... She calls her mother and then mil calls DH and gives him third degree why we didn't use his sis since she offered and her bf was away blah blah. We always don't let her etc. like really??? So I texted her and said hey just so u know we had booked babysitter last week etc... No response. So he calls his mom today and she is upset blah blah.. She is 30 and could easily tell us her fillings. But how am I wrong so now we go away with mil thinking we are wrong. That sis only comes up here or there for a day so whatever but the other one is so snippy lately.
Ok sorry for vent just annoyed today... I am taking spin at 6:45 am tomorrow because we can't leave until like noon.
Aimee have fun on your trip. Hope MIL and SIL don't drive you crazy and you can enjoy your trip. Storyland sounds fun, my cousin just took her 3 year old there.
Vicki, I can't nurse in my carrier either, I am not sure my body is made for that, I have tried and I just can't do it. My boobs must hang too low or something, bc I would have to reach down and grab one and hold it up, sorry tmi.
But yay Vicki for not having to supplement this week.
Well no news from me, my life has been pretty boring lately. We are watching the Rangers game tonight and I might just grab a beer, if Henry wakes up then I will just make DH give him a bottle.
I think for me it's the positioning. I never use the cradle hold; even with they are really little I put them in the sling upright so I think that hold is just awkward for me.
J has been waking up so much lately. I mean, maybe he's hungry but he goes back to sleep if I rock him but he *still* wakes up before his feeding every night. He is always up at around 12-1am so I get such broken sleep every night. I just want him to sleep a good stretch without waking up, ack! And he caught a cough from his siblings so now he probably wakes himself up coughing. Blech.
My older kids have been bad lately. They were awful going to sleep last night - kept talking/playing/getting up. I am so stressed about school mornings now because they've been so bad about sleeping. They probably went to sleep at 9:30-10 last night and were up before 7am this morning...
Sorry about the sleep issues Vicki, I feel like a zombie too. I told DH that we are going to have to start sharing the nighttime duties bc I am just not able to sleep. And I know you must be worried about the new schedule. Change is so hard, daycare has changed our nursing and naptime schedule a lot and it has not been fun. Henry is more of a snacker now, which leaves me no time to myself since I am constantly nursing. Need to figure out how to nurse in a carrier pronto. May watch some youtube videos later. Just seems that he is very high when I wear him, his head is at my shoulder level and my boobs are, ugh..much lower.
Sorry that Judah is sick too. So hard to see your baby sick. My pedi said that suddenly that past 2 weeks she has seen a bunch of sick kiddos. Must be going around.
Sorry for the sick babies... We are on vacation and so far been great. The weather is awesome and we have had two long days on the beach! We have a tent for Rylee and she has been great down there. DD naps in MILs arms usually and it's been good. I am bummed eating crap and not working out that great. I did a 3 mile walk yesterday but today DH golfed this morning so I couldn't walk. Maybe later tonight but prob not since burgers for dinner with beer seems way better lol!
Yay for vacation! We didn't get one of those this year because of the baby. We usually don't do much - go camping or to the beach for a day, which we still might do but we would have to stay overnight. Traveling is just harder with a little baby!
This week has been GREAT. DS has been loving school and I'm loving the time at home with two kiddos. Plus, I can run all my errands early with two kids which is so much easier than having all of them. DD behaves so much better without her brother around! And I've been going back to my cleaning routine of working on one room a day so that I'm not scrambling to clean everything when we have company around. I've just overall been in a really good, productive mood! Tonight we have a teacher info meeting to talk to the teachers and learn about what will go on for the year. It's for parents only so I had to get a babysitter which for some reason always stresses me out. But I was able to easily find someone and she will just come to the church (his school is in the same building as our church) and watch the kids in the nursery while we're down the hall. And she's the pastor's kid so that makes it even better. :)
The worst part about this week though has been DH - he's been sick and was quite the bear last night - I barely talked to him and he was mad at me right when he walked through the door. But we resolved that we would come back together again tonight.
Glad you are enjoying your vacation Aimee. Sounds awesome. I need one of those. We usually travel somewhere big every 3 years or so. Next on our list is Peru. But that may change since Henry is here. Although we do want to travel worldwide with him if we can afford it. But I think next year we might try the texas coast or beavers bend.
Vicki, glad that Ds school is going well. My friend was always really worried about putting her DD in mothers day out and when she finally did it, she loved it, bc she got more time with her littlest baby. I hear ya on the DH part. Its the worst when you fight, especially when you are tired and hungry.
Yesterday DH told me he was going to have a quick drink after work with friewnds but would be home before Henry's bath. Well he wasn't home by that time. He (and his friend) walked in right as I was putting him to bed and they were being so loud, plus I was braless and in my jammies. Ugh, I was pissed. But he redeemed himself by staying home with Henry today. He did a great job too. I am shocked.
Tomorrow we were supposed to have a lunch date and leave Henry with MIL, but we found out yesterday that our close friend has leukemia and he wants to see us tomorrow before he starts chemo next week. Not sure if he is leaving for treatment or what, guess he will tell us tomorrow. So scary. I hope its in the early stages, he hasn't told us anything. Then on sunday we are doing our typical formal lunch with dh's fam.
Saw that you guys said you can't nurse in the carrier because of positioning. In order to nurse Emma, I have to lower her. When I nurse her in the Mei Tai, I lower it and scooth it off to the side, puts her rigt at boob level. In the ring sling, it's even easier because I can put her in my hip, then just pull out slack until she's low enough. Please PM me if you need any help, being able to nurse in a carrier seriously makes me life a million times easier. When I get home from work, I can nurse her while I'm making dinner and taking care of DS. I'd have lost my mind without the ability to do this.
Vicki, I am so happy to hear you were able to drop supplementing! You're so awesome for sticking it out past all of your issues. As for sleep, Emma still only sleeps for no more then 3 hours at a time so I really have no choice but to co-sleep or I'd die!
Aimee, your vacation sounds awesome. Once the summer heat dies down, I think we're going to go camping. We also have a Disney trip scheduled in Oct for my brother's wedding. I was hoping to do a whole week, but I'm not sure we can swing it.
Elizabeth, sorry to hear about your friend. Prayers for him.
AFM, we're doing well. DS started kindergarten last week and is doing amazingly well. I'm so proud of him!!
