Every other month has some sort of chat thread.. Mainly just talking about everyday things, so I figure we should have one too. Anyone got anything to say? I always have something to say!

My throat hurts tonight. I know I haven't had enough water today, but I don't think that would make my throat hurt. Plus I semi-coughed earlier. I hope HOPE HOPE I'm not getting sick. I've been sick once with a cold and once with a stomach virus while I've been pregnant and I think maybe I'm done being sick because I've had my fair share.

Also, I was told today that I look like I've lost a lot of weight. ....... ......? But then she informed me she meant my face looks skinnier. I am down from my pre pregnancy weight because I STILL can't keep much down, but I never thought someone would say I look like I've lost a LOT of weight while I'm pregnant.

What's everyone else up too?

Sorry you aren't feeling well. My DH has had the flu for the past 3 days and I'm trying my hardest to keep a distance.

Not much going on these days. Can't wait for Friday already. It has been a long week. I haven't been sleeping well, so I think that's the problem. After work today I went to a specialty yarn store to buy some fancy yarns to make some hats for my friends toddlers. I started to knit them and made a major mistake and had to tear it all out...so now I'm frustrated and want to go to bed.

Jessica, you're my hero for all the stuff you've have to deal with this pregnancy. I really hope you magically feel awesome when your baby comes out.

Elizabeth ... that's why I don't knit, lol! MIL taught me how to do it and I was like, "why am I doing this??? I can just buy a scarf, lol" I do love hand knitted items, I'm just not willing to do the work.

I'm feeling ok over here. I have to work this entire weekend which I have to do once a month (I'm in the Air National Guard), so that's 12 days in a row of work. I work for the governement for my regular job, so 12 days is faaar too much government BS for my taste. I've usually completely lost my patience for everything around day 9 or so.

Elizabeth, I applaud you for having the patience to sit and knit something. I can already tell I'd quickly get tired and throw it down in disgust...lol. I haven't been able to sleep well either. I always ALWAYS nap around 1 to 3 (or even 4 sometimes) and I just can't get to sleep comfortably, so I usually skip my nap here lately. Then at bedtime I lay on my side and stare at the clock. Sometimes I lay on my back, just because I can feel baby girl so much better and marvel at her being there THEN I flip and stare at the clock LOL. Luckily, the doc gave me some stomach meds for night time that make me sleepy, so that's a help.

Joan, I have a friend that was in the National Guard. Do you have to do anything really physical? I've noticed lately I am getting out of breath a lot easier and I don't think I'd be able to do drill.

Elizabeth, if you get a chance you should post some pictures of some things you have knitted. I really admire people who are crafty. I'm soooo not. LOL

Joan - That's awesome that you're in the National Gaurd. I agree with Jessica - do you have to do a lot of really physical things? I think that would be starting to get hard by now.

Jessica - If this were a just world, you would get a completely pain free labor and a baby that STTN by the time she's a month old after everything you've been through during this pregnancy. Here's to hoping for some sort of universal karma kicking in!

AFM - Looking forward to tomorrow. It's DH's birthday, and it's also his parent's 35th wedding anniversary (can you imagine having a baby on your wedding anniversary?) so they have made reservations for a 5 course meal in a really cool old restaurant in Manitou Springs which is about an hour away from us. Since it's a 5 course meal and T is your average 4 year old boy, he is not invited. LOL So my parents are taking him over night, which means that not only do I get to have a la di dah fancy 5 course meal in which I don't have to cut anyone else's meat, but I also get to sleep in on Sunday. I think I'm looking forward to tomorrow more than DH, and it's his birthday. Smile

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I am in the community band (play clarinet) and we are doing 2 concerts this weekend. I definitely cannot breathe as well as I did a month ago!

Alissa- enjoy your date with DH. And cut up his meat just for fun!

Alissa, haha about not cutting up someone else's meat. Um.. I'm not even sure I should mention this but, whenever any meat has bones in it (such as a steak or a bone-in pork chop) I MIGHT get DH to cut it off the bone. Well, if he cooks. If I cook, I don't get anything with bones in it. I know I know, I'm grown, I should cut up my own stuff. Pfft, whatever LOL. But a 5 course meal sounds fantastic! Hope you have a good time.

Cristan, that's awesome that you play the clarinet! I used to play the violin many many moons ago and I loved it. UNTIL my grandmother insisted I have private lessons... and then I didn't love it anymore..haha.

LOL Jessica - Your DH must really be crazy about you. I think if I asked DH to cut up my meat for me or even cut it off the bone, he would a) not do it and b) never let me live it down. LOL

Cristan - that is really cool that you play the clarinet! Have you always played it (like, since you were a kid) or did you learn to do it as an adult?

Haha, I looked up the menu at this restaurant we're going to. I guess the restaurant is super old, and they were on Ghost Hunters! Haha, I would seriously die if I saw a ghost like in the bathroom or something.

Alissa have fun on your night out!

Cristan, I'm jealous, I've always wanted to play an instrument. I keep telling DH I want a ukulele. Haha.

It's super old, and I don't really post this to the public too much, bc its more for archival purposes...but here is my old knit/crochet blog. I will post Henry's Blanket and the hats I've been doing here soon. I've made 2 baby hats recently and I'm working on 2 more. Infant hats are so tiny, I can do them in 1 night. elizations

Cool blog Elizabeth! I really liked the baby blanket (and what a touching story about your friend!) and the grey scarf from 2009! Thanks for sharing.

Allisa, I am very jealous of your fancy restaurant meal. We almost never go anywhere without DS because we don't have family in town. My BIL lives with us and watches him on occasion, but that's maybe 2-3 times a year!

Cristan, I'm impressed that you kept up your clarinet playing, most people I know quit their instruments after high school. Do you plan on teaching your LO an instrument at some point?

Elizabeth, I can't see your blog from my government computer ... can't wait to check it from home.

AFM, my guard job is not terribly demanding. I am in maintenance, but it's all in-shop stuff. It's much less physical than it sounds. I work on some of the aircraft components, but not the mechanical stuff, more of the communication, navigation, radio frequency type instruments. It's mostly hooking boxes up to testers and running them, pushing buttons, swapping circuit cards, etc... Work is really slow here right now though, so there's nothing to do. I'm just hanging out on the computer adding to this chat thread, lol.

I loved the chat thread on my last board!!! I am still trying to remember names so sorry I am not using them yet

I wish I could knit. I cross stitch and love it but my grandmother knits a lot and I wish I could.

We threw a surprise 40th anniversary party this weekend for my in laws. It went awesome and there were about 60 people there. Now I am exhausted and ready to get my house clean and in order and get baby stuff all set... But that can wait until next weekend while today is LAZY

I got up at 5 this morning. I usually have to get up at 330 to go to work, so 5 was a bit of a "sleep in" but... still! I'm supposed to sleep 'til 10! Ha. I haven't slept 'til 10 in forever. I am sick though, I knew it was coming the past few days my throat hurts. I hope it's fast and doesn't linger like my last one did. I have asthma, plus a baby making things hard and having a cold it gets really hard for me to breathe. So hopefully this one zooms out quickly. However, usually when I get sick.. I get really sick and I'm down for a few days completely miserable. Atleast it's a new year and my vacation and personal time cycled back.
DH just texted me and asked if I wanted to cook on the grill tonight. I don't do the grill, so I assume he meant HIM cook on the grill. But I'm wondering if that means his moms coming, I don't think he would have asked unless she's coming over. So I asked him if she's coming and also asked what he wants to cook because other than frozen pork chops, I'll have to go to the store. And of course - no answer. He's funny (what I mean by funny is really friggin annoying) because if he calls me and I miss his phone call and call RIGHT BACK, he won't answer it and mumble something about it not ringing. If he sends a text and I don't answer it immediately, I don't get another one from him for a looooong time. *eyeroll*
I had all these plans for this weekend: I needed to pick up around here - there's clothes all over the floor. My doggie drags whatever she can from the bathroom hamper  so I need to get it all picked up. And I need to sweep. And wash/dry/fold some clothes. And clean the kitchen. I semi cleaned the kitchen yesterday, so it's not horrible. And I did do one load of clothes.. I just feel so blah.

Jessica, did you end up having to entertain yesterday?

How is everyone's Monday? Mine is dragging. It is my VERY light day teaching wise and I had big plans of things to get done and yet I am sitting here on the internet... I wanted to have most of my maternity stuff all organized and together but I just cannot motivate today at all!

I am super stressed about the state of my house and really want this upcoming long weekend to get stuff done aroudn the house. I start my second to last graduate class tomorrow and I can't wait for that to be over either. This is to complete my CAGS because I already have my Master's.

Okay now that I chatted I am off to accomplish something...

Joan, no, I didn't have to entertain. DH finally called me and explained that he knew I wanted to cook out on the grill because it was really warm here this weekend, but I had already planned dinner, so we just ate what I planned on. His mother was never in the equation, I guess I just thought since he was going to cook something on the grill, she'd be with us, but he said he hadn't even talked to her.

My Monday was okay I guess. I'm officially sick, I only got one hour of sleep last night, so it was hard to make it through the day, but I managed - AND in a good mood, so that's an extra plus! I stopped and got lunch on the way home (Mexican) and I want to just cram it all in my mouth, but I know that's not a good idea...haha.

Earlier today, I had my arms crossed right under my breast...and baby girl kicked me (or punched or something) really hard. That's the highest I've felt her!

Sorry to hear you are sick Jessica! Feel better soon!

Aimee good luck with all the house organization!

We are moving on the 26th, so we started packing this past weekend. We are nowhere near done. I've got a busy-ish week at work, tomorrow I have a community service event meeting, and otherwise the rest of the week I will just be studying. We are going to the new Science Museum (The Perot Museum) on Friday and our friend's band is playing at the museum too! I'm excited to see both the museum and band!

Jessica - That stinks that you are still sick and that you got no sleep. I hope that you feel better soon; it seems like it is harder to heal from things when you're pregnant. Can I just say though, I am too jealous that you had grilling weather this weekend? It is so freaking cold here. It was 0 degrees F when I was leaving for work this morning. Zero! Anyway, I hope that you feel better soon.

Joan - That must be hard, not having a lot of family nearby. That is one of the reasons why I have refused to move from Denver even though I haven't gotten some pretty amazing job opportunities in other cities in the past several years; all of our family is here.

Aimee - What is your Masters going to be in? Congrats in being almost done with a grad degree! Advanced degrees are kind of the norm in DH's family (not in mine, I was the first person in my family to get a BA) and DH has a Masters and is thinking about going back for a PhD. I have kicked around going back every once in a while, I think mostly just so I can say I have one and fit in with his family. LOL!!!

Elizabeth - good luck with getting all of your packing done. Are you moving to have more room for your newest addition, or for another reason? Have fun at the museum and watching the band. That sounds like a lot of fun!

AFM - Not much going on. We had a really nice time on Saturday, despite the fact that the Broncos had just blown the playoffs in double overtime. LOL I even ate a few bites of dessert, and it was AMAZING. Toe curlingly good. Other than that, things are pretty quiet here. I have an OB appointment tomorrow, but it's just a regular check up.

Jessica- I also feel like I am getting sick and the thought of one more thing to make me uncomfortable is making me miserable.

Joan - family nearby is huge for me. My parents are both passed away and I have no siblings so my in laws and my grandmother are all I have. It stinks in a lot of ways

Elizabeth- moving is so stressful for me and the real reason is I am horrible at packing!!! I end up throwing it all in random boxes in the end and it is horrible so I am wishing you good luck!

Alissa I have my masters in education already. As a teacher in MA our salary is based on years taught and then college credits. Each school varies a little but ours is a raise each 15 credits you get after your bachelors (some schools it is after masters). So your annual raise is usually a percentage 1-3% a yr based on your salary. So the scale goes down by years from 1-15 and then it goes over up to bachelors +105 credits. I am in my 12th year and am at 93 credits. I want to be in that bottom right spot so my annual raise is based on the highest salary it can be. So I decided to go for a CAGS in administration to get to the 105 credits rather than just taking random classes.

Oh yeah Alissa I was secretly rooting for a denver loss since my beloved patriots would be facing them!!

AFM - after my practice tonight we went and ran some errands to return some Christmas stuff. We went WAY overboard this year and it was nice to return like $400 worth of stuff - not all gifts but still. Now I am getting ready for some Tylenol pm and my pillow to try and beat this sore throat thingy

Hey ladies! My concert went well. We actually played 2 times, a dress rehearsal that we did at the long term care facility. It was fun to see the elders clapping along with some of the songs! I have played clarinet since 5th grade all the way through college. I hadn't played much since then because there were no adult groups nearby, but we have a community band here that I joined 4 years ago. Its fun!

Jessica-I hope you feel better soon! Not fun being sick when your pregnant.

Alissa-I am jealous of your dessert!

Aimee - LOL I guess my reading comprehension skills are lagging, since you already said you had a Masters and were going for your CAGS in your first post. I'm blaming baby brain! Lol My DH is a teacher too, so he has a lot of incentive to continue his education as well. That's great that you are so close. Do you think you would eventually like to do a more administrative role like being a principal?

I hope you feel better soon!

Cristan - Yay for a great concert. That's great that you have been able to make the clarinet into a life long skill and hobby. Smile

AFM - Ugh, I am worried about my GD. For the past several weeks I have been keeping it really nicely under control with diet alone, but in the past couple of days my blood glucose readings have been higher than normal (and above what we want them to be.) No idea what caused it to change all of the sudden, but I don't like it! I guess worst case scenario is that they will put me on medicine or something, but I've been kind of proud of the way I have been able to control it by myself. Oh well, I'm doing the best I can, staying within the portions and numbers that they gave me to work with, so I guess if I have to go on medicine I just do.

Alissa, sorry about the GD. I still haven't heard back from my doc... I have an appt tomorrow, I suppose I'll ask although I should hope they would have called me if it was bad. Are you eating anything different?

Cristan, that's pretty cool that you got to play twice. When I played the violin, I used to love LOVE playing as part of the orchestra. It felt so nice to be part of the pretty music being made.

AFM, I'm still sick. I have an appt tomorrow for a 3D u/s of the babies face. DH was gonna come with me, but I told him I'd get a recording and he can just go to work. He'd have to miss the whole day because my appt is at 1030 and then he'd have to drive back out there for school anyway. I hope I've been drinking enough water. I was thinking that at 37 weeks, I'll be full term. That's in a little bit over two months. If she wants to come then, I'll be so perfectly fine with that. I want a day and a night where I can eat without getting sick. I know that's horrible and selfish but dang, I've been throwing up/nauseated for SEVEN MONTHS. Crap.

Jessica - No, that's the weird part! All of the stuff that has triggered high blood sugar is stuff that a) should be fine from a "carb count" perspective and b) I have eaten before without problems. I called my GD dr, and she asked if I was stressed or sick, and I'm not, I mean, I'm stressed now because of the GD readings I've been getting, but I wasn't before. LOL! She said that even though they are higher than normal for me, they aren't *that* high (I've been in the 120's and 130's - they want to see below 120) and that we would give it til the end of the week to see if they stabalize. If not, I'm supposed to call her on Friday so we can decide on another course of action.

Yay for your 3D u/s!!!!! I can't wait to see pics!!!!

I do not blame you at all for being so far beyond done with being sick. Has changing your diet helped at all?

Alissa, not really. I know to stay away from hamburger, so that's helped. I also have been eating very very little at dinner time and that's helped my stomach as far as feeling queasy before bed. But other than that, if I eat - I'm getting sick. Period. Thinking back, I don't think my MW believed I was still throwing up at my last appt. I don't ALWAYS throw up, but I ALWAYS get sick to my stomach. Plus I'm always hungry so that doesn't really work out well with one another...haha

Alissa- I am torn on administration and if I do it I know it won't be until much later when my kids are older because right now my hours and having the summer off are the perfect mix for me. I love beign a mom but I love being me which is teaching and using my skills so I am happy taht I have a job that I work great hours and in my school system I make really good money. I know not all teachers say that but I am very lucky where I am.

I hope your GD gets back under control. I can't imagine the extra task of watching and stuff while you are also going through pregnancy.

Jessica - I really suggest going to get an ultrasound for your gall bladder. Just to verify that is exactly what is your problem and after talking to someone maybe they can give you suggestions.

AFM- I am SOOOO happy it is Friday and I have a 3 day weekend! We have so much we want to do around the house this weekend and I am looking forward to it (haha we will see how long I say that once we get started!).

Aimee - I'm right there with you! I want to get the house nice and cleaned up, and work on the nursery, and start pulling things out of the basement so I can start washing them (for the baby.) I know I have like 2 months left, but judging by the way the rest of this pregnancy has flown by, that will be no time at all. Squeeeee, that just made me really excited! We're having our babies soon, y'all!!!!! Biggrin :D Biggrin

Jessica - I hope that you figure out some food that you can eat without making yourself sick soon! It's awful that you have gone through this entire pregnancy getting sick every day. That's intolerable!!!

AFM - I told Jessica this on another board, but my dr recommended walking after meals, and thus far that seems to have done the trick to lower my blood sugar naturally. So hopefully that will be all I need to do!

Alissa, yay for finding out something that's gonna make your GD be in check! And something as easy as walking for 20 minutes is better than meds IMO. I know you said you have a treadmill at work, but uhhh..do you go walking in the -17 degree weather? I just had to go put on a sweatshirt THINKING about that kind of weather. *shiver* It was soooooo colllld here this morning! I mean, nothing like YOUR cold. We got some snow yesterday, but it didn't start until 1130 pm Thurs night and by 330am Friday morning, it had turned back into rain and mostly melted itself. Some other cities got some snow, like 1-2 inches..my mom in the mountains got 3. I SAW some on somebodies car, but not enough to measure LOL It made me laugh SO much because the night before the snow started, all the schools and gov't buildings released a two hour delay for the next day. HELLO?? It's not even snowing yet! And the roads were fine. Ah, good ole Virginia..haha. We're better equipped for a cat 4 hurricane than a little bit of snow.

I didn't have any energy today, I was falling asleep at my desk at work this morning. When I don't have anything to do, I get bored. I didn't have anything to do for almost 2 hours straight today and finally I got up and just walked around lol. But that made me tired for the rest of the day, so I came home and napped. Well, I did dust off the entertainment center and go grocery shopping. I'm off tomorrow and DH works so maybe I'll get something accomplished.
