Coffee

Hi everyone:) I just want everyone's take on coffee. I LOVE coffee. I drink no more that 2 cups a day. I have been without for 5 days and tried to drink green tea instead. The first cup of green tea went okay but the second time I did not like it, I get a yucky feeling in the tummy just thinking about it. Maybe I had it strong and it was green tea with mint. I feel better today because I broke down and had a cup of coffee. The question is: Is it still okay to have coffee or should I quit or maybe just cut down when trying to get pregnant?

You know there are a lot of reports about coffee and how you should limit to just one cup a day. I mostly have been drinking decaf but there are reports that it's not that great for you. My RE hasn't mentioned anything about it at all. I think one cup a day will be okay, or maybe try switching to decaf. With DD I drank decaf the entire pregnancy and had no problem.

I am a huge coffee addict, so I am cutting down to 1 cup a day, and then decaf if I am craving more after that.

I agree with everyone. I was told one cup a day is fine. I don't have a problem giving up coffee but I am addicted to sodas, so I have a hard time cutting those down to one a day!

I can't drink caffeine since I'm still nursing and it keeps my LO awake (well, not so much keeps him awake, but makes him up at 3am ready to play).

While pregnant and not nursing, I let myself indulge more. But really only one a day. I like Coke more than coffee, so I tend to go that route. Though I'm trying to eat better, and encourage my family to eat better so we've cut out all drinks that aren't water or milk. It's so hard! (Except DH still gets to drink coffee, it's really for my own good. Without it, he's crabby!

I have weaned onto decaf now (I had a rough couple of days, even on 1 cup of reg coffee a day! I was a raging coffee addict.) But I'll probably drop the decaf soon, just because I am finding I don't crave it nearly as much without the caffiene. Lol

I checked the boards this morning and saw this one on the top and just seeing the word made me crave a coffee! I haven't had one in ages.

Ugh I hate coffee, Im in the minority I know though. I am not fond of tea really either (really hate iced tea which is huge here in the summer) but can drink certain kinds with lots of sugar in it. I am however hopelessly addicted to diet dr pepper, if I had my choice it would be regular dr pepper but I dont want the weight that comes with it. Caffeine helps my migraines and I cant take my migraine preventative while pg (I take it up to my bfp tho they said thats okay) nor can I treat with my regular meds so I need at least a small amt of caffeine. I limit it to 200mg of caffeine at most a day but usually I am way under that as dr pepper only has 37 mg in a 12 oz and I only drink 2 a day. I have been drinking RRL tea (supposed to help with cm and uterus toning) and that is caffiene free but Ive been thinking of adding in Green Tea and that does have some so I will figure it in to stay under 200.
