Cramping - Going to see doctor this morning

Hey gals,
I preface this by saying that I realize I am probably over reacting, but I want to blame my doctor for it. LOL I have been having sort of painful cramping in what feels like my hoo-hah/cervix region off and on all weekend. Now, I know that any number of aches and pains can be expected in pregnancy, and probably it is absolutely nothing. I called my OB office, and the NP said that she couldn't say for sure without actually seeing me, but it was probably nothing to worry about. Probably. I hate that word! She said that I could come in and be seen anyway if I wanted, so I opted to do so. I would rather go in a look like the Nervous Nelly I am than obsess about every cramp all day long.

STOP READING NOW IF ANY "PREGNANCY GONE BAD" STORY FREAKS YOU OUT THE WAY IT DOES ME. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, MISSIES!!!!

Here is why it's my doctor's own d@mn fault and he can blame himself for having to see me today: at my last appointment, he mentioned that he had recently seen someone who came in for a routine check at 20 weeks, and her cervix was completely dialated (she had no idea!!!) and infection had already set in, and "there was nothing they could do." WHYYYYYYY? WHY WOULD YOU TELL ME SUCH AN AWFUL STORY???? So of course, now I think that pain in my cervix region probably means that my cervix is dialating (and infection is setting in....)

Anyway, probably nothing, but I'll keep you gals updated when I get back.

Oh what a terrible story to tell you! I'm wondering if it isn't Braxton-Hicks contractions ... it's time for that, isn't it? Please let us know what's going on.

Why oh why do they say things like that? I get that they need to prepare you for the what if's but geesh a little compassion wouldn't hurt either. I hope everything is alright and this turns out to be nothing but normal pregnancy pains and you can rest easy.

It was.......drumroll please.........absolutely nothing. LOL He thinks maybe I'm constipated, although he also took a swab just to make sure that I don't have some sort of vaginal infection. Beyond that, nada. Cervix looks good, baby's h/b was good, absolutely nothing wrong.

He did tell me that he was glad I got it checked out because apparently 18-20 weeks is the prime time for people to develop an incompetent cervix if they are going to, and then he proceeded to tell me some hair raising tales about incompetent cervixes....I swear, sometimes he just talks about 30 seconds longer than he should....

Anyway, false alarm, things are fine.

*Pshew*
