Default Drinking Water for 20 week U/S?

For the 20 week u/s, were you told to drink water beforehand and if so, how much? Mine is tomorrow and I never got any instructions. It seems like the baby would be big enough that it doesn't matter, but I think I was told to drink with DD.

I didn't have to have any for my 19 week u/s on Monday and I've been having biweekly ultrasounds. No one mentioned needing it for my anatomy scan next week, either.

I think I will just drink some so my bladder isn't empty, but I won't down tons. I've had u/s (not pregnancy related) where I was told to drink something like 32 oz. an hour before my appointment time and then had to wait an hour after the appointment time for the u/s because they were running late. That was misery and I will never repeat it!

I didn't drink any special amount, but I did avoid going pee for the hour or so before. Have a great u/s tomorrow!

I was curious about this too, I've heard of friends having to drink water before their 20 wk U/S. But my midwife hasn't told me to do a thing. Actually my 20 wk will be with an OB in her office, that's just how they roll. But I was hoping they'd call with instructions. My bladder is so tiny, so I'd rather not down a 32oz water.

Have fun at your appointment tomorrow! I can't wait to find out what you're having!!! What time is your appointment?

Its at 8:15 am so first thing And yeah, I would never recommend 32 oz. The time I did that, the u/s tech said I had so much in my bladder that half that amount would have been sufficient. I was calmer when I was in labor than when I was in the office waiting to be seen for that appt. with my bladder bursting, it was horrible, lol!

I was told to drink 16oz and no milk. Halfway through the tech let me use the restroom as she said it would help make the baby move so she could get more pictures too. Funny how every dr or hospital seems to be different for the same things.
