So you were able to leave the hospital at 24 hours or they kept you longer? I will want to leave early too, but they told me protocol is 2 nights...boo. I'm glad your mom came to help, but I totally understand needing some space.

Sounds like you've been active and have lots of energy, that is fantastic! And Judah is fedding like a champ! Not sure about the RRL, but I hope someone answers your question because I want to know.

Yes, protocol is 2 nights but if baby is fine and you are fine, you do NOT have to stay the whole time!! In Missouri, the law says 48 hours. That is minimum a hospital has to keep you for observation - UNLESS YOU CHOSE TO GO HOME ON YOUR OWN! They will have you sign special discharge papers to cover their butt but you do NOT have to stay that long.

LMK if you have any other questions.. my mom works in UM in a hospital so I can ask her. Biggrin

Ok good to know! The main reason is because my insurance doesn't cover a normal delivery, only emergency c-section. So we are paying out of pocket, and I know the longer they keep you the more they want to poke and prod and run labs and stuff and basically get more expensive. Also hospitals kind of freak me out for some reason, the moment I enter them I have an anxiety attack. But I didn't want to do a home birth because I would be missing out on $1,000 from aflac! Haha. My L&D is so organized around cost. I drive myself crazy just trying to save a buck.

ROFL Girl, you and me both!! One of my fears was not making it to the hospital bc Aflac requires it for its Hospital plan. Lol as long as everything is good, you shouldn't have to stay more than one day.

I'm totally stalking you STILL ya know. Wink

:lurk: come to Australia, some hospitals will have you out 6-8 hours post delivery. My cousin at 19 and a first time Mum was discharged within 12 hours of baby being born.
