Yep, it's really only beginning. And strangers think they can give you the most personal advice about a baby.
Wait until you have 2-3 kids (if you do). I'm sure soon I'll start to get the "you have your hands full" line which I already get with my two. Yes, yes I will have my hands full but that's exactly what I wanted!
And we have decided not to tell names for the exact reason Alissa stated. Of course we think our names are great but not everyone else will. Last time we did tell my parents the name we *thought* we were using and then we decided not to use it. So yeah, not doing that again.

I had that so bad with my first pregnancy, I feel your pain girl! The floor of my office I worked on was 11 women and one man. And they ALL had kids that were ranging from 5 to adults. So I got more advice and scare-you-sh**less stories than I knew what to do with. One lady I worked with basically told me that I ruined my pregnancy by finding out the gender ahead of time because she didn't with any of hers and it's the best way to do it. Well, too late lady so keep your feelings to yourself. Unfortunately, unless you are a more ballsy person than I, you just have to smile and nod them off. Eventually they sort of get your drift. I did have a couple snappy moments but then I always had pregnancy hormones to blame.

I don't know if you are going to keep working after you have your baby, but if so, it just keeps coming. Everyone has an opinion about everything you do with your baby. Personally, I'm a lot tougher skinned since having kids because of this...you just have to decide you do the best you can with your baby who isn't exactly like anyone else's and people forget that. And then just when they start leaving you alone about your baby, they start in on when you'll have another. Sigh!

we don't pick names until baby is here and we can see them, get a "feel" for who they are... you should hear some of the comments we get! lol My family thinks it's TERRIBLE!!! But to each his own ya know and I like the name Julie. With every pg I say I'm getting a shirt made up w/ my due date, sex of baby, and possible names, and "yes I feel like I look" and YES we know what causes it! lol
