Got my feelings hurt today...

I'm only 3 months in and I'm about ready to start punching everyone in the face that offers me "advice".
Here's what happened:
Saturday, I bought a bag of hot fries at work. I ate a few, mainly because I wanted something spicy/hot and left the bag at work. I've nibbled on them each day, but haven't really wanted them. Tuesday, a girl at the store I'm working at, came over and said something crappy about the bag of hot fries and baby doesn't need that and blahblahblah. We veered off that subject and started talking about God. I'm not gonna go into that convo on pg.org but, suffice it to say she was stepping on my toes a bit. Today she comes and asks me how I'm doing. I said fine, went to the doctor yesterday. She moves around my desk, grabs the hot fries and throws them in the TRASH. Now, my paychecks are super small because I have a garnishment out on me from when me and my ex were together. I'm driving way out of my way to go to this store and while I'm getting paid mileage, I haven't actually received any of it, so basically my checks are going in my gas tank and that's about it. I don't have money to be throwing food out, especially someone else throwing it out. So it really irked me that she did that. She started in on gaining weight and just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean eat everything in sight and that I don't want to be super fat and etcetc. I was like...look, I'm 20 lbs DOWN from the beginning of the pregnancy because I just can't eat and have been throwing up. If I feel like some hot fries are gonna stay down, I'm gonna attempt to eat them. I told her that bag has been there since Saturday and it still isn't gone and it's just a regular size bag of them. I'm a big girl, I get that, but don't come getting up in my face about gaining weight during pregnancy and throwing my stuff away. UGH.

People are so freaking rude. What is their problem? Man I would have been pissed if someone took my food.

I've had similar issues with people telling me what I should and shouldn't eat. A friend of a friend (who's also pregnant) asked me what I was I was having for lunch one day over gchat. And I told her schlotzsky's. This was seriously the only day in my entire pregnancy that I had a deli sandwich and its one of the toasted sandwiches. My best friend told me I could, bc she ate them throughout her pregnancy and her doctors told her it was fine. Anyways I told her that and she said, "Well Elizabeth you shouldn't be seeking that kind of food out." I told her that I wasn't too worried about it. She then copied and pasted a bunch of text from some random website basically telling me listeria kills fetuses. RUDE!! And she knows I have M/S bad and she keeps telling me if I eat more protein it will go away. I keep saying, "Umm NO actually I still puke no matter how much protein I eat." I wish she would butt out. She'd probably flip her crap if I told her I had 2 sips of wine at my bro's wedding.

It's funny you mention the punching of faces because I texted my friend today "It must be the hormones, but I feel like slapping everyone today." LOL.

When you are pregnant you become everyones business, I really don't get it!! There's like this unwritten rule that you can tell a pregnant woman what to eat, do, etc. I would have told her off, what a jerk!! :bighug:

I commented on the PGAL board, but wanted to say here as well; what she said and did is completely and utterly unacceptable behavior. It's none of her business what you eat or how much weight you gain. It's flat out not her body and not her pregnancy, and she needs to butt the eff out. People are freaking crazy.

Elizabeth - a) your friend needs to mind her business. b) I've heard the same, if you get a toasted sub the heat should kill any potential listeria bugs. I occassionally eat at Subway, and wouldn't feel weird eating a toasted sub. And I LOVE Schlotsky's! Now I totally want a Schlotsky's ham and cheese! LOL

I swear I think that some people think that a pregnant lady's body suddenly becomes public property. Total strangers feel free to comment on your body, your diet, your weight, and grab and touch your belly as it pleases them. Totally bizarre and rude.

If we're confessing our pregnant sins (hot fries and two sips of wine, heavens no!!!) I have also had two sips of wine since being pregnant. DH's family is Jewish, and it is customary on Friday nights and holidays to do kiddush (basically they say a blessing over a ceremonial cup of wine and then drink it with their meal.) I've been to one Friday night dinner and one Rosh Hoshannah dinner, so I had a sip of ceremonial wine at each occasion. The humanity! LOL

SIPS OF WINE?? LADIES!! Are we lushes? LMAO I had some wine not too long ago. Two weeks ago maybe? I'm not a big wine drinker, so..I wasn't really compelled to down the whole bottle.

I'd much rather have Long Island Iced Tea...which I haven't had at ALL since I've been pregnant.

That really does make me sound like a lush! HAHA

Elizabeth - ugh one of my "friends" told me that I shouldn't eat hot dogs. Or deli meat. Or any raw produce. I was like, ok seriously? Listeria dies when it's heated. And produce can be washed off. But I'm thinking eating raw hot dogs isn't really appealing anyway..

Okay, I feel like punching her in the face for you! How rude! Its your body, your baby and YOUR buisness! Tell her to mind her own. Dont listen to her! I've always struggled with my weight. I'm not a real big girl but its definitely something I struggle with and always have. The first thing my mom said when I told her I was pregnant was started in on telling me only to eat veggies and fruits so I didnt gain a lot of weight. I can only keep down certain foods right now therefore I eat what I can keep down. YOU do the same. If you can keep down hot fries then you eat hot fries. Sorry for my rant but it just burns me up when people try to tell others how to take care of themselves. You're an adult and you know how to take care of yourself, you dont need her to try to tell you how to live. Okay... I'm done ranting now. Sorry. LOL :angry9:

Haha April is full of some lushes. I used to drink wine nearly every evening with dinner and beer on the weekends, so its lucky I've had extreme nausea because I haven't really craved it at all. DH likes that we are saving money when we go out to eat though, bc I order water now.

Haha, I was thinking that I should put all of the money I save on wine in a savings account for the baby...lol!!!

I can't believe you let her throw your stuff away without telling her "um, excuse me? Do you mind keeping your hands off my stuff and keeping your opinions to yourself? BTW, you can REPLACE that bag of hot-fries tomorrow! " I mean really girl, dont let people treat you like that. That is just insane. ♥
