Heartbeat...

A week ago, when I found the heartbeat, I knew it was the babies, but it was faint...however, there was no mistaking that sound. When I went to the doc on Wednesday, she had the doppler positioned and it was louder than I get it - and she had the same doppler I have. So, I've noticed that it's getting easier to find and MUCH louder when I check it.. It's still kind of funny because I can have the doppler move a very very small amount and poof, no more heartbeat.. but man when it's on it it's ON it. It's so great to hear that sound.. loud and strong and fast.

And.. I called it on FB already, I think it's a boy. No other reason than my family is all boys and DH's family is all boys. I had previously thought...well WANTED a girl and I still do, but.. I'm thinking there's gonna be a wee-wee there when I get my gender scan.

Also, I still am not thinking I'm pregnant. Well..yes I am. Like, I check the heartbeat and I am sick a lot and I poke my stomach alot (don't ask), but being a pessimist, I just...can't allow myself to think that I might actually have a little baby in a few months. I'm not sure when my worry will disappear - if it ever does because even if I DO have a little baby in a few months, that's a whole new batch of worries! Oh I want this baby so bad. So so so bad...

Send me a PM with your FB! Biggrin

I think what's going to set it in for you that you're REALLY having a baby is when you start to feel the movement. It's amazing.. and just.. unreal.. to feel life move inside you and know it's not gas bubbles or whatever.. Right now it's like "Oh I have the flu and that's why I'm geetting sick so much.. " but when you feel the movement, it'll set in that it's REALLY real! :clappy:

Congrats on hearing the HB so clearly.. awesome! Smile

Yes, I am thinking that once you start feeling movement consistently and strongly - once it's more than a few flutters and bubbles here and there - you will be able to believe it and trust it a little more.

I still think this isn't real even though I can now hear the baby's heartbeat AND I have seen the baby thru US many times. I'm still very scared of something going wrong so I try to not let myself get excited.

Do you check the HB everyday? I've done it 3 days in a row now...I hope that's not a bad thing!!!

Me too! I tell my DH all the time that I feel like we're pretending or something... like its not real to me yet. I've heard the heartbeat (and yes it is an absolute amazing feeling) but its just not real yet. Cant wait to start really having a baby bump and feeling movement!

With Sam I was unable to let myself believe until I was feeling movement. I was so afraid to get attached. Once the baby started kicking I would often poke my belly to get him to move just to make sure all was well. So I went from a TP checker to a belly poker!

Marisol - Yes, I check it everyday. I don't leave it on for a long time though, I basically am just checking to hear it. Once I hear it, I turn it off. The only thing I've read bad about it is that if you can't find it once or twice, you could stress yourself out and the baby be fine. I haven't read any "risks" of using a doppler everyday. I figure once I can feel movement, I'll probably stop using it so much.

It all felt very unreal to me with my first ... honestly, I really didn't feel at home with it all until he was out and like 6 weeks old!! It's such a huge change with your first that's it's hard to wrap your hear around it, especially if you didn't grow up around any babies. Before you know it, you're kiddo will be running around and you'll barely remember when you didn't have "him."
