Well here is my LO's first mommy made blanket. It's very thick and he's not likely to use it as a blanket for awhile, but maybe a play mat. It's about 1/3 of the way done.
I love the colors, Elizabeth!! TFS!!
Wow! It's looking great! Is that an online pattern or one from a book?
I love that! What awesome choices for colors.
You did a great job! I love the pattern you used.
Thanks! The pattern is from Sarah London. She is an aussie that sells her crochet patterns on her website. Its very easy, its the same 2 stitches over and over. I like the colors, I know its not very "baby" looking, but I tend to gravitate towards bright rather than pastels most of the time.
looks awesome! I wish I could do that.... crafty not me lol
Is this knitted or crocheted? Very cool, I like the colors too. Pastel = girly to me and bold colors say boy to me. Is it the same colors as the nursery?
Crocheted. I knit too, but I crochet better than I knit. The colors do match the nursery a bit. I'm using lots of orange, teal and grey.
Love the colors! Very pretty and creative! I'm sure he will love it!
Ooooh, love the colours! It is nice that it is not too "baby"ish because he can use it and love it for years and years! Those colours would make a great room theme for an older boy.
Crocheted. I knit too, but I crochet better than I knit.
I'm the same. I do both but I'm better at crocheting and enjoy it more.
When my little brother was coming, my mom was doing one of those "kit" blanket things, where you have some plastic-y mat and put the pieces of yarn in with some kind of hook thingy? ANYWAY, I took over for a bit - and it was a PAIN. So I commend you for taking on something like that! It's awesome looking, looks nice and warm!
It looks awesome! I so wish I could be crafty like that. I just don't think I have the patience.
Yeah I guess learning to crochet took a bit of patience, but now that I know how to do it, its a good stress reliever for me. Its such an easy pattern that I dont have to count or anything, I can watch tv while doing it. Knitting however can be a tad more stressful for me because I have to pay attention more closely.
Jessica those are called hook blankets I think and I agree - very tedious. My grandma made this huge rug like that and I remember it taking FORever. My cousin and I would work on it as well and it was so slow... BUT my parents have it now and it's quite a nice rug! Crocheting is nothing like that. I tried knitting once and it was way overwhelming. I already have to reteach myself crocheting every time i do it; I cant imagine relearning knitting!
Elizabeth have you ever knitted on a loom? I've made all of our stockings that way. They come out really well. You can also do hats and socks and other things on a loom.
I've never knitted on a loom. I just learned to knit on a circular needle and switching to double pointed needles and that was tough for me. I actually can follow patterns very well in the flat, doing more complex stitches. But shaping things is difficult for me. I would need a lot of focus to make any kind of clothing.
