    Default Inflexible baby

Is your baby flexible? Seems like all my friends have flexible babies. Their legs just fall open for diaper changes and they can do the bicycle with their legs easily. And then I have seen Alissa's baby on here grab his toes.

Well Henry is just like my husband, super tight and inflexible. He often will straighten and stiffen his right leg when I change his diaper and clothes. I have to apply pressure behind his knee to get him to bend it. Also when I do the bicycle with his legs they just feel so stiff like he is fighting against that movement. I don't know of he will ever be flexible enough to grab his feet. Oh and putting him in a sitting position on my lap is impossible because he won't bend at the hips.

I am not really worried but I was just curious if you gals have babies that are similar. Of course if you think this is odd, let me know and I will be sure to mention it to the doc this week.

T was like that. He always held himself very rigid when he was a young baby. I don't think he was actually inflexible like he couldn't bend, but I think somehow it made his tummy feel a little better to stay straight. I say that because it went away right around the same time his colic/stomach issues went away. Like he could finally relax.

Yeah my friend's first baby had colic and when she held Henry she said I can tell he has colic just by how tense he is. But her second baby is like a rubberband baby, I was shocked watching a diaper change.

I guess he will get less tense as time goes on.

How often does he wear cloth? Now that Emma is chewing on her feet and starting to roll from her back, I'm having to put her in disposables during her floor time. When she's in cloth, she doesn't bring her feet up and doesn't really work on exploring her body movement. There's just too much bulk at her waist.

He wears cloth a lot, but I do give him floor time with a sposie once a day. I think that could explain part of his stiffness, but I do think its a general discomfort in the belly region that makes him so tense, and also genetics, seriously DH is so stiff. Probably the least flexible person I have ever met.

In traditional fashion, just after I posted this Henry starting grabbing his toes. I took Joan's suggestion and have been doing more sposies lately, I think it helped! But he is only grabbing his left foot with his left hand. He tries to do it on the right side but can't reach. Anyways its super cute, and it makes him happy that he can grab his feet!!

I LOVE grabbing feet! We did sposies for a floor time for a bit too but now I've found that some of our pockets are more flexible than others and definitely more flexible than our fitteds, so we use those for floor time. Now that's she's got the hang of grabbing feet and rolling over though, it's not as big of a deal.
