I've entered the Dark Side...

I have a huge stash of cloth diapers. I need a support group. Haha. I don't have even half of what my friends have but I'm still feeling incredibly guilty at the moment.

Anyone sharing my pain?

SO, what is in the stash?

Well since you asked I have:

2 BG elemental old style
2 BG elemental new style
2 BG Freetimes
1 Smartbottom AIO OS
7 Tots Bots Easy Fit AIO OS (Heard these are great for daycare)

1 Kawaii Pocket
1 Kawaii Heavywetter pocket

1 Kawaii cover OS
1 WAHM cover OS
3 Thirsties duo wrap size 1
1 Thirties duo wrap size 2
3 Rumparooz newborn covers

1 kissaluv fleece fitted
2 other newborn fitteds from a friend

6 newborn prefold (with the option of accepting up to 15 more from a friend)

6 larger prefolds (with the option of accepting 12 more from friend)

What else do I need? I plan to use disposables for the first week, maybe 2, but I want to start trying my cloth very early.

I was excited about pockets, but both of my cloth diapering friends say they hated them, so I steered away from that and got lots of AIOs.

I think it's good you got one to try it out though Smile Then you can decide for yourself.. AIO's are easier though!

There is plenty of room for more dipes! (SOrry I will stop enabling now!)

We used mostly BumGenuis dipes for Sam. We had both pockets and AIO's. I loved the AIO's for daddy and friends to use but they took so long to dry (we didn't have a dryer). I used some prefolds, but ended up using the prefolds mostly to stuff the pockets with!

Later on I used fitteds with covers and loved it. These were great when he was older and a heavy wetter. I still have these stored, but they are mediums and larges.

We plan to buy once we know this little man's size. The bumgenius dipes didn't fit well until Sam was over 9 pounds.

I am thinking about getting some kissaluv fitteds and covers to get through the little stage.

PICTURES!!! Sounds like a great stash to get you going, though if you think you're gonna need nb, you might need a few nb covers. I hear they can start using the OS size stuff around 10-12 lbs. You have a nice sampling of different types though, so you can see what you like and what you don't like. Also, take those prefolds. IMO, you can never have too many prefolds because they can be used as stuffers as well.

My stash is totally out of control, lol. I'm going to try to remember off hand, but can edit when I get home. I skipped NB sizes because my family tends to make big ol babies and I won't start until her cord falls off anyway. I have I think:

15 or so OS pockets (mix of BGs, FBs, Alvababys, and one Sunbaby),
one set of yellow edge and one set of brown edge prefolds from green mountain diapers
4 sm Thirsties covers
3 or 4 medium Thirsties covers
1 or 2 larges Thirsties covers
3 good mamas OS fitteds
5 or 6 misc fitteds from a WAHM in large and XL
2 Thirsties large fitteds
4 OS covers from Blueberry
1 small wool soaker from Aristocrats
2 med/l fleece soakers from a WAHM
tons and tons of inserts in all fabrics!

I have so many pockets and wish I had more fitteds.

Also, MIL learned to make wool soakers, so I know I'll be OVERLOADED on those quickly, lol.

I like pockets and they're really daddy friendly too. I steer clear of AIOs because I feel like I get the same functionality in a pocket except I can customize the absorbancy, I think it's easier to get them clean, and they definitely dry faster.

I definitely like pockets the best overall, although I do get burnt out on stuffing them sometimes. I haven't used too many AIOs.

I would definitely take the prefolds your friends are offering. They are GREAT for the first couple months and baby won't be able to wear the OS pockets quite yet. Even though I started at 6 weeks will my son, he still couldn't fit into most of my pockets so I ended up using prefolds as well.

My stash is neverending; I still need to get everything out and sort through it all. I have built up a lot over the years and so will you probably! I think I have 2-3 newborn pocket dipes that I used for outings. I have a few fitteds; mostly used those for overnight. And then I have a TON of pockets - all different sizes and OS. And lots of covers. Of course since I don't know what I'm having, I have to leave the girly dipes out for now...

If you're interested in used, check out the FSOT (for sale or trade) board on diaperswappers.com. I definitely support getting a few to see if you like them.

:lurk:
I am especially fond of the Kawaii heavywetters! They really hold an amazing amount.
For fasteners, I love velcro when they're little because it's so easy to get a good fit. But once mine were toddlers they'd take the diapers off unless they had snaps.

I lived on DS when I was buying cloth. It's a great place to be! Also, you can find some good deals on Spots Corner at hyenacart.com. It has better searching abilities.
