Smile Just bought a gently used Medela PISA on ebay...

I got it for $105 (including shipping.) I know you're not supposed to reuse breast pumps because of possible germs, but I know where to get new bottles, suction cups, and tubing (we have a bf'ing store right across the street from my work) that stocks all of that stuff...I was really just interested in getting the motor piece of it since mine crapped out. I have read that as long as you get your own tubes and bottles and suction cups you should be fine, which is how hospitals are able to rent them out.

I hope this one is in as good of condition as the lady said (it looks to be practically new in the pictures, and that's what she said as well, that it was barely used.) I have only ever bought one other thing on eBay before, so I'm a little dubious, but it was such a good deal....

I think that's a great move! I LOVE my PISA. IMO, nothing, non-hospital grade, beats it. The scare about getting them used is total BS, the pump itself never touches a drop of milk.

Congrats, I hope it works well for you.

...is that the first thing you've bought for baby?

I already have a pis from when i had Austin and that was rarely used because he wouldn't take ebm from a bottle so i just basically nursed him.

Sounds like a great deal! I would be totally fine with using the pump motor with my own tubes, etc. as those are the only parts that actually touch the milk. I have a Medela from when I had my dd and loved it-hoping to get more use out of it with this one, but I think I read some comments that the motor burns out after around a year if you use it daily several times, which I was since I was working. We'll see how long it lasts me this time around
