Great find! I just found out my insurance company will cover the cost of an Ameda brand pump.

We'll see how long it lasts me this time around
Yes, I'm terrified of this. I exclusively pumped for 10 months with DS and I'm returning to work full time with this one and let me tell you, having a pump break on you is a NIGHTMARE. Not one of those things you can wait on. Had to run out to Target to buy my PISA immediately!!

Yep. I pumped 3x a day while I was at work for about a year, and it crapped out on me in the end. Here's hoping that this one is as gently used as the lady said.

I bought one at our Goodwill the other day, still in the box looks brand spanking new for 8.00!!! The receipt was in the box for 269.00!!! Brought it home plugged it in and it works great I rented one w/ dd#1 and I agree if hospitals can rent them and as long as you have your own tubing its absolutely fine to buy used. I hope you're happy w/ yours too

Just an FYI, I don't believe hospitals rent out the PISA version due to the potential contamination risk. The one I rented was a Medela Lactina which has a completely closed system.

And I agree, being without your pump when you need it is aweful! We had planned to buy a pump before I started back to work. Sam was tongue tied at birth and we were discharged on a Friday before labor day weekend. I had to scramble to get a rental from my local public health as I ordered mine online. Without a pump those first few days we would have never succeeded in our nursing.

This time I am buying mine sooner!!

The pump I had last time was the Avent Isis duo, LOVED it.

Cristan is correct, the hospital grade pumps you rent have a different set up and the air flow in the tubes never comes in contact with the pump / mechanical portion where with the PIS the air flow does go through the pump and is not a separate thing. That being said, if you replace all the parts outside of the pump itself, including the tubes, I wouldn't be worried about it. Sounds like you got a good deal to me. Woot!!
