Kylies 2 month checkup

Went very well and was pretty boring actually. LOL But that's alright, that's how we want them to go.

She measured in at 23.5in and 11lbs even. DR is very happy with how she is doing and had no worries or complaints. He said he will have us start cereal at 4 months, but will talk to me more about that next visit probably. We go back Thursday July 25th for her 3 month appt and Tuesday July 30th for her next round of immunizations.

Yay for a good appointment! I thought the new recommendation on cereal and solids was 6 months, at least I keep reading that in the news. Any reason why your doc wants to start at 4 months?

Our pedi also starts cereal and foods at 4mos. I don't think there is a specific reason but that is pretty much the standard as far as I know.

Glad for a good appt.

Ok yeah I guess every pedi is different. Seems like all my friends started solids at 6 months, but I could be remembering wrong.

Yeah I was kind of surprised when he mentioned starting cereal at 4 months as well, because he followed it up with starting some jar food(greens) at 5 months. We were told 6 months with my DS(but he is about to turn 7 next month) so maybe they've done research or something to state otherwise? I have no idea. But I guess we will go with it and see what happens. My DS would never take the cereal, any kind we tried, but he ate the jar food just fine so we will see what happens with Kylie.

Same with my older and the cereal. She had no interest in it at all. Loved most fruits and veggies though!

Yeah, current AAP is 6 months, but it seems most ped's still go with previous recommendations for cereal at 4 months. In the long run, I can't imagine it makes much of a difference as long as your baby does well it.

Sorry, not the point of this thread!! Sounds like she's going great! Is a 3 month check-up standard for their practice? We don't go back until 4 months.

Joan, honestly, with my son we went for his 2 month then not again until 4 months. So i'm thinking it's just this way with this DR. I didn't think to ask, but I thought about that when we got home. But, I think I will ask at the next appt how often he does appts and for how long. I really don't want to have to go monthly for the first year.
