Anyone else thinking about nurseries already?
We have a small 3 bedroom house. We currently have DH and I in the master bedroom, T in what was the guest bedroom when we moved in (it's since been redone as a nursery/bedroom) and then we have what was the office, although since summer it has been more like a storage room (we moved a bunch of stuff around and then never moved in back...) The "office" and T's bedroom are about the same size. T's bedroom is painted blue with a border of white animal silhouette's about chest high, with white curtains with a blue puppy/star/bone pattern on them. (I made them myself when I was pregnant with T and am super proud of them...lol.)
The "office" had this hideous plaid wallpaper, so we have stripped that away and are now deciding what color to paint it.
We told T that it was his choice, he could stay in his current bedroom and we would re-do it for him (he has been asking for a Super Hero bedroom) or he could move to the office and we would re-do the office to be his new super hero bedroom. He has decided that he wants the office, so we will be painting the office up in "super hero" colors (maybe green and purple, like the Hulk?) and getting wall decals, and then move him in there. I think we will just keep his current room the way it is (blue walls, white animals, blue and white curtains) especially since this baby is going to be a boy. So actually, the vast bulk of the work is going to go to giving T a new room, instead of creating a nursery.
DH is going to do the bulk of the work for T's room while he is off for a couple of weeks over Winter Break (he's a teacher) but I have started to sort through the crap in the office and putting things in the basement or setting them aside to donate. I am feeling very enthusiastic about starting to move the process forward. Anyone else starting to work on getting a nursery ready, or something similar?
Since my brother and I have had a falling out, he's moving out. However, he's leaving all of his bedroom furniture in here. If it comes down to it, I'll break it all down and move it either to the garage or to a corner of the house. But, since we rent, we won't be doing a "nursery" as in paint colors, etc. I'll have baby furniture I'm sure, but that'll be about it.
Although, if I COULD, I'd paint the room bright pink and get pink furniture and curtains.
I love hot pink...lol
Oh how fun...A super hero room! He will love it. You think your 3 bdrm is small? We live in a 1 bed 1 bath duplex. We will be moving to a 2 bedroom February 1st. Hopefully we can find a townhouse or condo to rent. If not then our next choice will be duplex, quadplex and as a last resort an apartment (I dont like having too many neighbors so close).
Anyways like Jessica, I wont be able to paint. We are buying a new crib and then I hope to find the remaining furniture on craigslist. I want to splurge a bit on bedding and other textiles, since thats the best way I can add color. I found some cute ones I like from Land Of Nod. Just have to wait to see if its a boy or girl!!
Ever since finding out the sex this past Wednesday all I can think about is the nursery! I cant wait. We had planned to use the dogs room (yes they have their own bedroom) but we decideded it would just be easier to leave them where they are and use the guest bedroom instead. I only wanted to use the dogs room b/c it is slightly closer to ours but only by like a foot. The dogs room needs some work b/c they have kind of trashed it so we're just going the easy route and going with the gues room which is equally nice. Actually a little nicer probably b/c it has two windows where as the dogs room only has one. I've already pictured in my head the layout of the furniture but not sure what color I'm going to do the walls yet. We went to babies r us and looked at bedding and stuff on Saturday for a little while (probably wont buy from there b/c its expensive but it was nice to get an idea) so I think I'm going to get the bedding first and then pick our color for the wall. Cant wait for everyone to start posting pics!!!!
We had so much fun doing a nursery for DS, but we're gonna skip it this time. She's gonna be in our room for a while since I don't like having a baby all the way upstairs. We put so much love and care into DS's nursery, then moved when he was one and half and had to paint over it all. He never really enjoyed it or cared about it, so we're just gonna wait till she's older and do a room for her that suits her at the time. Kind of a bummer and kind of a relief all at the same time.
Im sure our nusery wont get used at all again this time around. But its all set up since DS never used it. I just rearranged the furniture to make it different. Im "planning" on actually having baby sleep in the crib from the start, but I know i'll end up breaking down and putting him in bed with us. Its just so much easier when nursing! We are going to buy a bunkbed in February and both the older boys will be sharing a room. I REALLY hope DS2 is sleeping in his own bed by the time the new lil guy gets here!
I'm trying not to stress this. DH hasn't moved out of the office yet since our basement isn't done! So I really don't know what's going to happen!
Jessica, you should totally move your brother's furniture out of that room so you can use it. If he's not living there, I assume he's not paying rent, and your extra bedroom is not his free storage area, especially when you need the room for your daughter!
We have three bedrooms. I plan on moving Noel into Micaiah's room and maybe repainting it. It's kind of a toothpaste green right now, not sure what I might paint it.
Noel's room is a melon/peach color. To me, it looks kind of girly with white furniture and such, but I don't know if we'll repaint it. The bedding and decor is g/n. I was thinking of maybe getting a bright blue foam mat for the floor just to balance out the peach color. We'll see.
