My Latest Appointment

Had my latest appointment last Thursday, but have been too busy to post until now. Not too much to say, blood pressure was good, I gained 8 lbs. this time (after loosing 2 at the last appointment). I also did the 1 hour glucose test, which they said they would call if I failed, so no news is good news. I was supposed to start going in every two weeks, but I asked if I could go one more stretch at 4 weeks and the midwife was ok with that as long as I called if I noticed anything starting that could indicate blood pressure issues or anything else of concern. My next appointment is Feb. 28 and I will have both an appointment and an U/S to check if my placenta has moved up (I had a marginal placenta previa at my 20 week u/s, so hopefully it has now scootched up)

Sounds like a good appt! Smile Hope the BP issues stay under control.. that wouldn't be any fun if something crept up in that 4-week stretch.

Yay for a good appointment! So Im curious why are you waiting another 4 week stretch?

In a way the 2 week appointments will be annoying because my doctor's office is on the other side of the city from where I work. But I also kind of feel like I havent had time to connect with the baby much lately during the day, so Im hoping that it forces me to forget about work for a bit and concentrate on my little dude.

Yay for a good appt. I had previa in my first which went to low lying the week before but it still was not high enough to avoid a c-section.

I am going every week for appts and it is great to see her every week on an u/s but it is a total pain going there so much for such short and simple appts. He said he may give me a week off next week so we shall see

I'm still on every month appointments as well. I asked about it last time and she said no, I'm still on every four weeks. I'm guessing this will be the last time though. I guess maybe because I'm not quite 30 weeks yet? I think they do it starting at about 30 weeks and then weekly at 35-36 weeks.
Anyway, I'm sure everything is fine! So you are waiting to have your placenta checked until next time? What can they do if it's not in the right place?

I wanted to go one more 4 week stretch because my job is really busy and its a pain to miss work and I've already missed several days due to various illnesses for DD1 this semester, plus I have to pay for parking every time I have an appointment, so unless she felt there was a need to see me in two weeks, I'd just as soon not go so soon-not that excited to be told how much more weight I've gained, lol!. If she felt their was any reason why I shouldn't go 4 weeks, I wouldn't have a problem to go sooner and I will call to go sooner if I have anything crop up that seems like it warrants attention.

For my placenta, I think it will likely have scootched up by now-I actually measured ok the first time the tech looked at my 20 week u/s but she looked again at the end of the scan and the measurement had changed to too close to the cervix-apparently small contractions in the uterus can affect the measurement. Worst case scenario would be that I would have to have a C-section if the placenta was over the cervix, but my midwife said that since mine is marginal, there is a possibility that even if it hasn't moved, I could still deliver vaginally as with the marginal previa, it is possible that when the baby's head engages, it acts as a tourniquet and prevents the bleeding that would be dangerous (hopefully am quoting her more or less accurately!).
