Nursery Pics?

I know that some of us are starting to get our nurseries done, and just wondered if anyone was interested in showing pics?

Mine is not quite done yet (need to set up the crib and move a few more boxes down to the basement) but I expect to have it done by next weekend, so will post some pics then.

Mine is getting there. I need to hang photos on the wall and make the mobile. But I will try to take some photos this weekend too!

Bahaha that's funny! My daughter is still in the nursery. I've been trying to get a bunk bed and start getting their room ready so I can move her out, but really we won't use the nursery too much until the baby is on a more regular schedule and sleeping in the crib.

I was talking to DH last night, and I was like "Okay, so you'll have your peice done on Saturday, right????" (Our division of labor at the moment is that he is doing all of the painting/furniture moving/setting up and I am pulling all of T's old stuff out out of the basement unless it's heavy and I need him to carry it up, and washing it and putting it away.) He was like "Oh no, not Saturday. I have to touch up that other wall that I couldn't get to before on Saturday. I can't set up the crib or move the rocker over to that side of the room or anything like that until the paint on that wall dries. Don't worry though, if I don't get everything done this weekend, it will be done for sure by next weekend." I'm like "NO! We are running out of weekends!!!!" LOL

He promised he will try to have EVERYTHING done by Sunday. This sounds bad because on one hand I'm glad he wants to make the room nice and is really paying attention to detail, but at this point I'm like "The paint looks fine to me. Forget the paint. Just set up the freaking crib and get the furniture where it needs to be already. That's alllll I want at this point is for that to be done." LOL It's just been dragging on for so many weekends now. He's painted the baseboards, and filled in old nail holes, and steam cleaned the carpet, and re-caulked the windows, and I don't know what all, and one part of me thinks it's super sweet that he's working so hard to make it like the nicest room in the house (LOL) but the other part of me is like "JUST GET IT DONE ALREADY."

Anyway, so yesterday I washed all of the clothes that I have for little guy. I've got all of T's onesies and hats and a few pairs of pants and sleepers, and then the warmer clothes and sleepers that I bought for this guy, and I also washed the swaddling blankets we will be using. I set them all in the closet for now because I thought I could get to the dresser but DH has more furniture piled in front of it so I can't yet. Tonight I think I'm going to go through all of the linens and assess if we need to buy a couple new crib sheets. I read somewhere that the elastic can "go" on old crib sheets, causing them to pull up from the mattress, causing a possible smothering hazard (even typing that makes me feel faint) so I may buy some more cheap ones rather than re-using T's. I'll have to give them a good look over. Also on my to do list for this week: pulling out and wiping down/washing all cloth parts of the car seats, and washing all of the cloth peices of our bassinette. Oh, and I need to buy diapers and baby socks! Somehow we no longer have any baby socks!

I think I'm finally nesting.

Wow Jessica, look at all those diapers! Looks like everything you need is there, it won't take long to put together. I still have my friend shower coming up at the end of March, so here's hoping I have that much stuff after the shower!

Jessica, you've got diapers and the crib is assembled so you're good to go, lol! When we were expecting our first, the nursery was filled with all our crap that we hadn't figured out a place to put it, so you are ahead of the game since everything in there is at least baby related! I really think I am going to end up with this baby living out of my storage bins, I have done almost nothing in the way of prep. DD1 is still in the nursery and basically no progress on her big girl room so this one will be in our room until who knows when.

Since I'm home sick today, I thought I'd share my nursery pics. I still want to put photos up on one of the walls, maybe above the futon and I still want to make a mobile to hang over the dresser. I also still need a lot of stuff. I got mostly clothes and blankets at my last shower. The only 2 big gifts I've received, which aren't in this room, are the pack n play and the swing. We will probably keep those in our room. DH has yet to assemble those.

Looking good ladies! We have yet to buy a pack of diapers...lol. Our shower is on the 17th, so we were kind of waiting until then to see what we ended up with. But...i'm starting to have my doubts on that logic as it will not be a big shower at all so i'm starting to look at what we do have and will need to at least get us started and i'm getting worried. Haha!

Jessica - you are way farther than I am! I have a room with all of the furniture pushed to one side, a crib which has NOT been assembled sitting in the basement, and no diapers. Oh, and a bunch of clothes and blankets just piled randomly in the closet :bonkself:

Elizabeth - your nursery looks adorable! I love the orange chevron rug and the gray crib. Too cute!

Okay, so here are some pictures of what we *do* have done. DH retouched the paint, and I have washed and re-hung the curtains, and we have most of the decor up. We have a blue and white animal theme. Sorry if they are huge and blurry, taken from my phone.

Walls:

Curtains (my MIL and I made them):

Decor: black and white animal prints:

Super cute Alissa! Are the animals on the wall a decal or painted? They look great! Nice Job on the curtains! And I love that picture of the Elephant sitting. I love elephants, they are my favorite!

I have all that stuff because of my shower, I haven't bought anything except one pack of newborn diapers because all the ones given to me were size 1. We had the shower early because if we needed something big, like the crib, I wanted some time to save up for it instead of plopping down a sizable amount of money all at once.
And.. I don't FEEL ready! The room is a hot mess! All those bags? They all have clothes in them. I haven't sorted them or washed them or anything. I have a dresser in the hallway that needs to go into that room, but I still have clothes in it. (I don't know WHY I have no room in my dresser and still don't have anything to wear - even before I was pregnant.) Everything besides the crib is still in a box, but I don't want to drag it out because atleast in a box it's contained! Like the pack and play is in a box, the travel system - box, the carseat - box. *sigh*
DH said yesterday that if he gets off this weekend (unlikely as he hasn't had a day off in 2 months) that Saturday he's going to relax and Sunday he's going to work on the cars. Which is fine, they need working on... but all I can think is everyday is a little closer for things to be ready and they're not. And I'm not motivated to get anything done AT ALL

Elizabeth-love the nursery it looks very comfortable and I love the rug! Alissa, the animals are super cute! I wanted to make curtains for DD's nursery, but I ended up just getting cheap ones at Family dollar as I couldn't find a print I liked in my price range at the fabric store, plus I am lazy when it comes to sewing. I bought a bunch of material with this baby to try to make a mei-tai, but I haven't got around to cutting it out or anything yet-need to get on that before the baby arrives or it won't happen.

Thanks Elizabeth, Jill, and Rebecca. The animals are painted on. My SIL made stencils, and we used those to paint them onto the walls. Elephants are my favorite too! I collect them, so I had to have elephants in the animal themed nursery too. Smile

Jessica - IMO, the big things that you need to have ready for when the baby comes is: diapers (which you have) and wipes, clothes for her to wear, a place for her to sleep, and a carseat. Everything else can wait a little while (unless you're formula feeding, then I assume you also need bottles and formula.)

Nursery is done, finally! I just need to get a hamper and a diaper pail. Oh, and some more crib sheets (most of mine have gone missing!) and some diapers. But other than that, and some general stuff like having baby Tylenol and a nasal bulb on hand, we're pretty much good.

Arrrgh, having trouble with the pictures from my phone. Will post later.

Okay, here they are!

I also put all of Rocket's clothes away in his dresser, put away all of the blankets and linens, am washing my two Boppy covers, and cleaned out the closet.

Also this weekend, I dug out our car seat/infant carrier, our bassinette (which I use when I'm downstairs), and the baby tub. Washed all of the cloth parts to everything, and wiped down the plastic or non-cloth parts of everything, and then put it all back together. DH needs to install the bases in our cars, but I figure that can wait a little while.

I still need to pull out my stroller and our baby swing and give them the same treatment, so I'll probably tackle that this upcoming weekend. Beyond that, all of the sudden, we are in pretty good shape!

Thank you! Yes, I'm getting very excited. Just soooo relieved to finally have the room done and the car seat ready to go. LOL I seriously feel like this baby could come at any moment (I know it's still early, but I've just been sooooo uncomfortable lately, like he is about to fall out or something) so I'm super relieved to be pretty ready now.

Haha, it's funny that you mention the dresser. We got that dresser from DH's great aunt when she went into a nursing home. It is HUGE and sooooo heavy. I seriously think it's like 50 years old. We got it when we were first moving into our house almost 7 years ago, and it's been in every one of the upstairs bedrooms, I think mostly because it's so freaking heavy that no one wants to move it down again. LOL I have kind of a love-hate relationship with that dresser, because it takes up so much space. But you're right, it's perfect for a changing dresser, so I'm leaning towards love at the moment. LOL

Can't wait to see your elephant themed nursery when you're done with it! I bet that it's going to be adorable. I love love LOVE elephants.

I think most people have at least one thing they have a love-hate relationship with ROFL They can't get rid of it but certainly don't like dealing with it, either. Lol

Is it very high off the ground or is it a good height for changing? I know DH is going to struggle with changing on either of the things we plan to use.. he's just too tall. But we have the lifter block things.. that might help him out a little. Smile

ETA - we're still waiting for a couple of things to get here to finish up his room.. but I don't think it will be complete until he moves up there in 6-9 months.. we're going to have some of his stuff down here.. But I'll get pics when we get everything in place, for sure!! Biggrin

It's a perfect height for changing for me. Not too high, but I won't have to bend over either.

So is Baby J going to be bunking with you when he's born?

ETA: Is he still Baby J? You changed your signature on me! LOL

Yuppers - We have our bedroom on the main floor but the other 3 are upstairs.. so we have the PNP in our room and are getting a small changing dresser on DH's side of the bed.. but all else is going up in his room - crib, decorations, etc. I'm not sure how it'll all work.. but I guess when he starts sleeping a little more through the night (ie 1-2 wake ups max), he'll move upstairs.. I'm thinking around 9-12 months? It's been so long, I don't remember! Then again, DD and I shared a bedroom cuz I only had a 1 bedroom appt .

ROFL DH I think is wanting Bram pretty bad. I still like Austin.. but it's most likely going to be Bram. But it may end up being a combination of Bram, Austin and Alexander.. do you know how many combos that makes? Lol I told him when Baby J is born, he'll know what to name him. Smile

Oooooh, I like Bram. A lot! It's kind of different without being weird, and very, I don't know, dignified or something. I love Austin and Alexander too. Bram Alexander definitely has an air of gravitas to it - I can see a Bram Alexander as a powerful CEO or something. Biggrin

Nice nursery! It sounds like you have been nesting Smile

Little dude will sleep in the cradle in our bedroom for a few months, so no rush to finish the nursery. With Sam he slept in our room since we only had one bedroom at first. He continued in our room until last year, I never even bought a baby monitor. Our bedroom is on the main floor, so I am thinking he may nap better upstairs where it is quieter. We shall see! I liked being able to watch Sam sleep.

Love these pics! Jessica, yours looks so comfy and stylish, like a den or something with that couch in there! Does it convert to a bed? Definitely unique with the gray crib - never seen something like that before!

Alissa, I love that you're all ready for baby! And all of the furniture matches really well together!
I hope to get some decals or something to "cuten" the nursery a little more. Otherwise, the decor is there. It should come together really fast after DD moves out. I just have to clean out the closet and stock it with baby stuff, set up the changing station on top of the dresser and put in the glider. We're going to keep DD's kitchen set in there so that will be interesting if it's a boy but he won't care. Smile

Grey crib and futon is me. Yes the futon converts to horizontal position, I wouldn't go as far as calling it a bed! Haha. But it will be great for late nights being up with a baby. I also "plan" to nap in his room in the beginning. I don't like napping in my bed, because it sucks me in and I oversleep during naps.

Also if we have people stay at night we can put them in there with the crying baby!! Haha.

Duh yeah I knew it was yours Elizabeth just got the wrong name. :bonkself:
Napping in there is a great idea! I hate napping in the bed - it just seems wrong somehow. DH makes fun of me because I will try to nap on the couch w/ him playing games in the background and then I eventually just give in and get in bed.

I love seeing the nurseries!! We're not doing one for this baby, so I like being able to adore all of yours. We did set the crib up in our room and put a beautiful cross stitch thing with her name on it on the wall above it. I've got all of her stuff set up in our room too, something for clothes, diapers, blankets, etc... I guess I could take some pics.
