Really? *vent* about names

So, I'm cooking dinner and just randomly asked DH if he *really* didn't like Logan as a name. He said NO I DON'T, we might as well call him Wolverine. I was like, what? Only if you're into that movie, I don't associate Logan with Wolverine...although I will now (thanks Tim). He said, "I'm not worried about names until we find out what we're having." I said.. I'm not WORRIED about them, it's exciting to talk about them. He said.. I told you what I'm going to call him. (His dads name was Charles and he passed away and wants the kids name to be Charles. I don't like Charles as a name so DH said it could be a middle name) SO I said, I thought you said that could be a middle name? He said maybe, maybe not and if you keep bugging me about it, I'm gonna call him @$$hole.

Seriously?

I'd probably have said "Oh, a Junior?"

Haha, good one!

Guys are jerks sometimes, what else can I say? Also people are so sensitive about names. They hold a lot of meaning for some people. Its understandable that he want to use his fathers name. Let's hope you have a girl!

My DH does that sometimes too, he doesn't let himself get excited about things. Although he's surprising me lately about being excited about the baby. He doesn't want to talk about buying anything right now though. Nor will he discuss circumcision with me until its confirmed a boy. We don't agree about that topic, so for that reason I'm slightly leaning towards wanting a girl.

LMAO Adriana, that just made me bust out laughing. Thanks!
Elizabeth - that's good that ur DH is getting sorta excited. Mine told me last night that he's excited and I said could have fooled me and he said you'll see. We arebboth fairly paranoid that its gonna just...end...so maybe further along he'll be better

Hubbys! With my last babe I had already picked out the name Clayton Jace(which we both had agreed on) and after I had already filled out the papers he asked me if baby could have his first name... I couldnt say no to him since he was FINALLY giving me his input on something for the first time ever! lol So last minute we changed his name to George Jace. Now I will have to explain to lil guy later why some of his baby blankets say Clayton not George! lol

Guys can be such a kill-joy sometimes, can't they? The day I took my FRER and got a BFP (Like 2 days ago) DH had to start talking about money issues and how we're going to afford daycare in OVER A YEAR AND A HALF! Like...wow! Can't we just enjoy the BFP for more than 20 seconds?

I'm with you. I don't care much for the name Charles. I hope you have a girl so this 'discussion' is over, lol. I do know a girl named Charlie though...so don't tell DH!

Perhaps you should find a friend to chat with names to...sounds like DH isn't really interested in being excited with you. Sad Booooo, right?

My DH's father passed away last year and his name was Charles, too. I HATE Charles for a boy, but our middle name for a girl is Charlotte since I like that one.

Maybe he's "Pms'ing"? haha

I LOVE the girl name Reagan but my husband said "like the girl of of the exorcist?!"... so now that name is out. They have a way of ruining really beautiful names dont they?

Know what I hate? When a friend asks "have you thought of any names?" and you tell her what you're thinking and her reply is "hmmm... what about Ivy" or whatever name they wish they had used but didnt and are done having children. They say it all like "I really dont like that name so what about so and so". Know what I mean? It kind of makes me not want to tell anyone the names we like anymore! I would NEVER tell someone I dont like a name they love.... or even act like I dont like it. Its their child and if they want to name their kid flim jab then so be it! Okay, sorry, I didnt mean to start a rant... LOL

LOL Leslie!! I've only gotten that once from a friend. She asked what names I was considering, I told her what I like (since DH won't participate) and she was like.. oh. okay. what about Jennifer? I said I like that name, but have a cousin with that name and a LOT of people call me Jennifer even though I'm Jessica and it drives me nuts and I'm not naming my daughter that...and I think she was hurt..LOL

We refused to disclose our name choices to anyone with DS. People are so funny about names, and RUDE at times. Once the baby is born, they can't say anything about it!

Sorry your DH is being a butthead about it.

We did the same thing, and will probably do it again this time. With people IRL anyway. I'm sure I'll tell you guys....LOL!

Jessica, my husband has the same attitude of "why talk about names until we know what we're having?" I get it, it's a practical thing. Like, why argue about two names when you will only use one of them? LOL But like you, I am excited and want to think (and talk) about it NOW. Men!
