Reid is at day care *sniffle*

Yesterday and today I took Reid and T to daycare. He did about a half day yesterday and then the full day today. I am working on getting our house ready to put on the market, and then I go back to work on Monday. The idea was to kind of step Reid into it (like first just a half day, and then a whole day but then a weekend back with me, and then finally a full week) but I'm missing him so much! Plus he didn't eat or sleep very much over there yesterday. I know he just needs to get used to it but the idea of him going hungry because he's waiting for me makes my stomach hurt. I hope he accepts the bottle better today. *sniffle*

:lurk:
It is so insane that your guys don't have proper maternity leave.... There is no way I could have left a 2-3 month old to go back to work. It was hard enough leaving a 9 month old with hubby when we changed who was on parental leave...

I'm sorry, that stinks! Has he had a bottle before this?

Aww Sad that makes me sad for you! I couldn't imagine leaving Wade with anyone at this point. Hopefully he'll transition easy and will take the bottle. :hugs:

Joan - Yes, that is the crazy part, he's been taking a bottle a couple of times a week from my mom with no complaints since he was 6 weeks old, so it never occurred to me that he might not take one for Anna. But the good news is that I just called her and he took 3 oz in one sitting mid morning today and she was getting ready to feed him again, so hopefully he eats more now. Considering the fact that he only ate about 3 oz the entire time he was there yesterday (from about 11-5) I'm thinking that taking 3 oz at once is a big step in the right direction. Thank goodness!

He drank 11.5 oz total today (I nursed him right before I dropped him off and right after I picked him up too.) I'm not sure if that is "enough" (how much do babies typically drink at 12 weeks?) but it sure is a big improvement! He still didn't sleep well though. Baby steps I guess.

What was the time span? Emma drinks about 12 ounces when I'm at work. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I wouldn't worry though. Even if he doesn't take as much as he should there, he'll make it up when he nurses which is better for your supply anyway. As long as he's not grumpy there...

Aww so sad. I'm not looking forward to that day. I'm sure I will cry my eyes out. Hugs Alissa! Well I'm glad that he finally took the bottle. He will get used to it, just takes some time because he is not around mama. I know kellymom has a calculator for how much they should eat per feeding. Its based on 25oz a day and then you divide by number of feedings per day. But what I am unclear about is whether this applies to a certain age or do breastfed babies typically topn out at 25oz a day?

I was reading something the other day that said babies will just switch their schedules if they don't eat during the day while momma is away. They will instead nurse like crazy during the night to make up for not eating during the day.

I read that too Joy, but that would suck to be up all night feeding a baby and have to go into work the next day.

Yeah, hoping that doesn't happen. Obviously if it were that or Reid starving of course I would nurse him all night long, but I'm hoping it doesn't come to that!

Not sure how it works with a breast fed baby but formula is 2.5 oz per lb so Rylee takes between 25-30total a day. She goes back and forth with some higher and others low end but I think it is growth spurts

It does suck! Lol. The good thing, though, is that it ensures I'm able to keep up with her with my pumping output.
