So today was Rylees first day and she will go for 9 days while I am back at work until the summer. I love my daycare for the closeness to me, the price, and how much love the teachers give my kids but as with most things there are some things that make me nuts....
So drop off went great. My older daughter couldn't be bothered that she was there and just went about her business. The "baby" room has 6 in it right now. There is no room for them in the toddler area so they will remain until end of the year. So there are two that are 1.5, two that are just a year, one who is almost two but he was born almost 4 mos early so he is developmentally and physically behind and then Rylee. The room is tiny... 10x10ish. And it was CHAOS today. One of the 1.5 is all over the place. And so so fresh but like he is old enough to be out of the room. This is annoyance because I don't like how a kids development is determined by numbers like my older got moved up to preschool early to make room for toddlers and while she is advanced it puts her at the bottom in that group so we are noticing some things with that.
Ok now for my MAJOR issue... People send their kids sick all the time and while there are rules it just seems like it never works the way it should. If we are in until 11 we get credit for the day so my coworkers like to give Tylenol and send them in... Then they get sent home but not before infecting everyone. Well today I was visiting Rylee and the kids were having lunch while I was sitting with Rylee. All of a sudden one of the 1.5 yr olds started coughing/gagging and puked everywhere. So much puke. It was gross. They cleaned her up and put her in crib thingy and after couple minutes called her dad and it was at least 40 min before he came because I left. So when I got there to pick up Rylee she was still there... I went crazy in my mind. She fell asleep while waiting for him to come so let her sleep and they really did not know if it was gagging or actual puking. Well who knows but it was puke!!!! I've been sent home for suspected conjunctivitis that is not and they fever fish with some kids but this one got to stay around my 8 week old baby!!!!! Ugh
So that's my frustration... She was very happy and did great and had a good day but I just wish the rule was solid and kid went home
That's quite an age variety for one room! I guess they don't have a lot of kids. Our day care had one room for 1-6 months, another for 6-12 months, then a room for each age up to pre-k. Then the school age kids are all together. It stinks to have itty bitty babies around toddlers with snot running all down their noses and not washing their hands and ... just being gross. I don't blame you for stressing about that!
