Scheduled my gender u/s!

I really don't care one way or another what baby is, but I feel like I HAVE to know ASAP! I think part of it is that my 3 year old refuses to admit the possibility that it's anything but a baby sister, so if it's not, I need time to prepare him. Wink

My Dr. only does gender u/s with the 20 week anatomy scan and I hate knowing we could find out a month sooner (especially since I'll be 19 weeks at our family Thanksgiving, the one time of the year the whole gang is together - it's just cruel to not let me do a gender reveal then!).

I called the 4D ultrasound place in Nashville that did my awesome 4D ultrasound with my son and scheduled a visit for Nov. 6, when I'll be 16 weeks. Only 6 more weeks to go!

I had a great 10 week u/s with my Dr. and heard the heartbeat loud and clear on u/s and Doppler. I am finally starting to accept that we might be bringing a new baby home in April. Smile

How fun!!!! How exciting, only 6 weeks to go!

I'm probably going to wait for 21 weeks. I totally don't want to, but that works best with DH's schedule and I really want him there sooo....boooo! LOL

Erm.. NOT that I'm super excited to know what I'm having but.. how much is it to get a 4D scan? I'm sure my insurance won't cover it...

The gender U/S is going to cost me $75 since it doesn't take long. We'll go back for a 4D cool one when it's time and it'll be $150.

Oh..that's not horrible bad. I would have NO idea where to get one though. I know my OB office doesn't offer that and there is a University that does, but.. I'm not sure how to go about doing that..

Jessica, you could do what I did with mine. Go to google and type in Sonograms and the area you live in.

Google 4D ultrasound and a city near you and see what comes up. The 4D elective ultrasound places used to be really popular before lots of OB's offices got the equipment. Now since the OB can do them it seems like there are fewer independent places that do them. We go to a place about 2 hours from home because the owner is a retired U/S tech and super nice - I think he just decided to retire and do only the fun part of the job from then on!

Oh yay!! I see one. It's like an hour and a half from here, but it sounds awesome. I'm not making an appt 'til I talk to DH, but.. I can get a gender scan as early as Oct 16th. OMG. Now I'm nervous. Okay... whew.. breathe...

Thank you SO much for telling me about this!!

I'm jealous that you are finding out so soon. I'm not sure when they will do mine. They said @ 20 weeks, but they also said I will come in every 4 weeks. Since my first appt was @ 9 wks, I assume witht he every 4 wks schedule that it would be @ either 17 weeks or 21 weeks. It would be nice to know before Thanksgiving.

So I'm guessing that the 4D will tell you the gender sooner then? I hadn't heard about knowing before about 20 weeks. I remember going in at 18/19 weeks with DS and they couldn't give me a good enough answer so I had to come back at 22 weeks! It did prepare me though because I was convinced it was a girl.
I'd love to have a 4D with one of my pregnancies. I just think it's really cool. BUT we are not finding out the gender this time around so I feel like it would be harder for me to have two u/s and not know or to accidentally peek or something since it's so much clearer on 4D. Anyway.

The ultrasound place that does 3d/4d close to here said I can make an appt at 16 weeks. However, DH was against it..he wants to wait until 20 weeks. He doesn't show much excitement about the baby at all...and I said that too him and then he was like..ohhh 16 weeks sounds good! Let's do it then! pfft. *eyerol* too late bud
