September Check-in

Even though September is almost over, I thought it would be fun to check in. Things have slowed down a bit here and I want to know what everyone is up to. So here we go:

1) Is the morning sickness gone yet?

2) What are your newest symptoms?

3) Who have you spilled the beans to? Anyone left?

4) What was the last thing that made you cry?

5) Have you thought about the birth at all? Any plans yet?

6) Do you plan to find out the gender and when?

7) Foods that you are craving or having aversions to?

Dirol Are you a SAHM or do you work? If you work, do you plan to return after baby is born?

9) What scares you the most about having a new one on the way?

10) Have you bought anything for the baby yet?

1) Is the morning sickness gone yet? I haven't puked in a few days, but the nausea is still there. I finally got that prescription for Zofran. I think it helps!

2) What are your newest symptoms? My boobs still really hurt. Still having annoying cramps. And the weirdest one is that I get a super bad headache if I wash my face in hot water.

3) Who have you spilled the beans to? Anyone left? We have told our whole family. I have told my bosses. We have to tell a few of our other friends and then I guess next appointment I may announce it on FB.

4) What was the last thing that made you cry? When I sent my Dad my sonogram picture by text...his girlfriend said that he grabbed the phone with the photo on it and put it next to his heart and closed his eyes. My dad is too sweet.

5) Have you thought about the birth at all? Any plans yet? I'm going the midwife in a hospital route. I still have lots of questions about birth and what I want. But I'd rather not have a c-section if it can be avoided. Although I'm totally telling myself that the baby can be breech and I should be happy with any kind of delivery as long as we get a healthy baby.

6) Do you plan to find out the gender and when? Yep. I'm hoping we find out at our 17 week appointment which would be the week before thanksgiving. If not it will be at the 21 week appt around the middle of december.

7) Foods that you are craving or having aversions to? Craving Salads actually and fruit. Hot foods aren't as appealing to me. Well except mashed potatos, love em. Aversions are mainly to bread, ground beef, and pizza.

Are you a SAHM or do you work? If you work, do you plan to return after baby is born? I work, and will have to return to work after maternity leave.

9) What scares you the most about having a new one on the way? Since its our first, I'm just scared of how my life will change. I'm also scared that I will suck at being a mom. And of course, I'm just always worried about the pregnancy and having a healthy baby.

10) Have you bought anything for the baby yet? I have not! My friend bought me our first baby book the other day. And I'm knitting for the baby, but I haven't bought anything from a store.

1) Is the morning sickness gone yet? NO! I wish!

2) What are your newest symptoms? I dont know if this is a "sympton" or not but my pants for work do not fit at all anymore... I had to bust out the hair band trick today. I have a bella band but I didnt realize how tight they felt till I got to work. Luckily I had a hair tie with me. SOOOO much better!

3) Who have you spilled the beans to? Anyone left? Our family and close friends and our co workers. I want to tell EVERYONE and its killing me but we agreed to wait till the 12 week mark just in case.

4) What was the last thing that made you cry? Hearing louie armstrong "what a wonderful world"

5) Have you thought about the birth at all? Any plans yet? Yes, and it terrifies me. Plans, not really... I feel so clueless about all of this.

6) Do you plan to find out the gender and when? YES! Wish I could find out now! LOL

7) Foods that you are craving or having aversions to? biggest craving: pickled okra and salad with lots of green olives (all things salty are really my faves right now)

Are you a SAHM or do you work? If you work, do you plan to return after baby is born? No, I work full time and depending on what day care costs will determine after the baby is born what happens. I have mixed feelings about this. Part of me would love to stay home with our little one and the other part of me REALLY wants to go back to work.

9) What scares you the most about having a new one on the way? EVERYTHING! I feel totally clueless about pregnancy and baby. I have always been fascinated with pregnancy and child birth and I have both helped raise my younger sister and babysat and nannied through out my life but for some reason now that I'm pg myself I feel like I dont have a clue what I'm doing!

10) Have you bought anything for the baby yet? We bought a South Carolina Gamecocks onsie to tell my husbands dad b/c he is a HUGE Gamecocks fan! He went there and still goes to all the games and donates to the school regularly so it just seemed appropriate. He thought it was for his dog at first (He's 83 and has had caterack (sp?) surgery in his defense) once we told him we'll be using it in less then 9 months he got so excited! Yahoo Made both mine and my husbands day

1) Is the morning sickness gone yet?*no... I thought it was going away and then I had two really bad days. Haven't puked lately but still nauseous if I don't eat regularly and at night.
2) What are your newest symptoms? Starting to get a little bigger.
3) Who have you spilled the beans to? Anyone left? Most everyone knows.
4) What was the last thing that made you cry? Some stupid thing about being depressed and hubby not helping me.
5) Have you thought about the birth at all? Any plans yet? Yep same plan as my other kids (worked out with the last one) - birthing center water birth no meds with mw.
6) Do you plan to find out the gender and when? Nope not this time!
7) Foods that you are craving or having aversions to?*liking fruit and saltier things, not liking red meat and lots of other things depending on the time of day.
8 ) are you a SAHM or do you work? If you work, do you plan to return after baby is born? Sahm
9) What scares you the most about having a new one on the way? Handling three kids
10) Have you bought anything for the baby yet? Nope!

1) Is the morning sickness gone yet? Except for feeling a bit nauseous every now and then I haven't had any yet.

2) What are your newest symptoms? Nothing really. My boobs don't really hurt anymore except just a little bit at the end of the day when I take my bra off to get ready for bed. And i'm still exhausted all the time.

3) Who have you spilled the beans to? Anyone left? I think almost everyone. When we got our surprise ultrasound and saw a heartbeat that was it.

4) What was the last thing that made you cry? The season finale of Army Wives I think oh and when I read a facebook post from one of the ladies on my birth board with my son that her daughter(same age as my boy) had clear two year scans for her cancer that brought a tear to my eye also.

5) Have you thought about the birth at all? Any plans yet? Not really, pretty go with the flow and will do whatever is needed. But will be in the hospital.

6) Do you plan to find out the gender and when? Yes and when we get our 20 weeks ultrasound if the baby cooperates.

7) Foods that you are craving or having aversions to? Nothing yet.

Are you a SAHM or do you work? If you work, do you plan to return after baby is born? As of about a month ago i'm a SAHM. I was working full time but got laid off due to the dealership not doing so well at all. The hubby has been out of work for two years when he got laid off from his teaching job at the navy base and has been going to school full time to finish his degree, so hopefully he finds a job soon.

9) What scares you the most about having a new one on the way? Money is the biggest thing right now. Also knowing that our 6 year old more than likely has Aspergers, wondering what if anything this could mean for this baby down the road.

10) Have you bought anything for the baby yet? Nothing yet. Wanting to get Christmas for our boys taken care of before we do anything big at least. But my mom and dad bought a 6 month size hoodie that says I love my mommy and daddy but grandma and grandpa are the best. And a really good friend of the family found an awesome exersaucer at a garage sale for $10.

2) What are your newest symptoms? Nothing really new, I feel like I might be starting to show a little!

3) Who have you spilled the beans to? Anyone left? All our families and friends know but my work doesn't yet. I'll tell them in the next few weeks.

5) Have you thought about the birth at all? Any plans yet? Last time was a breeze so I'm hoping for the same.

6) Do you plan to find out the gender and when? Yes, probably after my 20 week appointment. Last time I had an U/S the following week. I'm figuring around mid-November.

7) Foods that you are craving or having aversions to? Love pineapple and caffeine free Pepsi. No major aversions anymore but I can't eat anything in large quantities.

Are you a SAHM or do you work? If you work, do you plan to return after baby is born? I work full time right now. I'll either talk them into letting me work from home or I'll quit entirely.

9) What scares you the most about having a new one on the way? I'm scared that my DD will hate having to share parents.

10) Have you bought anything for the baby yet? I buy a single pack of diapers each time I go to Target so I'll have a nice stash when the baby comes. That's not a very exciting purchase though. Wink

I loved reading all of you ladies' answers. Smile

1) Is the morning sickness gone yet?
Yes. I never really had it bad anyway, mostly just a sensitive gag reflex, but that's pretty much all gone now.

2) What are your newest symptoms?
Mmmmm....I don't have a ton of symptoms other than getting bigger every day it feels like. I *did* notice the other day that the veins in my legs are more noticeable now (sex-ay!) and I just read that's common as your blood volume increases. So I'm rocking that hotness, plus the "is she pregnant or just getting fat" belly. You know you want allathis! Lol

3) Who have you spilled the beans to? Anyone left?
Everyone, including FB. I wish I could meet some new people, just so I could tell them too. ;P

4) What was the last thing that made you cry?
DH was talking about some of the underprivileged kids he works with and I got all teary eyed and flushed.

5) Have you thought about the birth at all? Any plans yet?
I'm verrrrry cautiously considering unmedicated. Maybe. Not because I want to! I would soooo take the drugs if I had confidence they would work for me. I am NOT a brave soldier when it comes to pain. The problem is that I took the epidural with T, and it DIDN'T WORK. Did you know that's a thing??? I did not. And the problem with that is, once they hook you up to an epidural, that's all she wrote. They won't let you get up and walk around and sit on a birthing ball and take a warm bath and all of the other stuff that I vaguely remember from my birthing class. Once the epi is in, for insurance reasons, they confine you to laying on your back in bed no matter how bad it hurts and you reassure them that you can feel everything and move everything like normal. So that sucks, and I kind of want to avoid it. The problem is, if I want to go the natural route I feel like I'm kind of on my own because with my history and gestational diabetes, I am too high risk for a mw, and my OB doesn't really specialize in "unmedicated birth." He's a lovely OB, but pain management techniques beyond "try the epi again" aren't really his thing. Was looking around for a class specifically about natural childbirth, but they are like $300 and I know that if I spend $300 and then break down and want the epi again anyway, DH is probably going to bar the anesthesiologist from the room. Lol So I feel like I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place on the whole birth thing. Blah.

6) Do you plan to find out the gender and when?
Oh yes. Now, preferably. But I will probably wait to schedule the scan until 21 weeks because that works best with DH's work schedule. *Pouts*

7) Foods that you are craving or having aversions to?
Carbs, but I think that's more a function of having to limit them because of the whole gestational diabetes issue.

Dirol Are you a SAHM or do you work? If you work, do you plan to return after baby is born?
I do work, and will work after baby is born, after my maternity leave.

9) What scares you the most about having a new one on the way?
All of the issues that go with having two (money, time, energy enough to slather on both, will they get along, will T hate the baby since he's been the only child and only grandchild on both sides for almost 5 years?)

10) Have you bought anything for the baby yet?
I bought a nursing cover because I got a good deal on it. Other than that, no. Since this is our second and I have saved everything of T's, we have all of the major stuff already. If it's a boy we should be good to go on clothes as well, although the seasons may be a tad off (T was born in June) but I am hoping that I can use a lot of the clothes I have for T and just layer. If it's a girl, we will start collecting girly clothes after we find out for sure.

1) Is the morning sickness gone yet? No. Double no. Triple NO. UGH.

2) What are your newest symptoms? I have this...uh.. feeling in my pelvic region. It doesn't "hurt" it just is there..but the doc said the uterus is probably going beyond the pelvic bone at this time..so.. it might just be some stretching. It kind of feels like when you've done exercise on a muscle that you haven't exercised before. ....and I don't exercise anything LOL

3) Who have you spilled the beans to? Anyone left? Once I posted it on FB, it pretty much ran around to all the family members left that I hadn't told. There's a few people at work that I don't really talk too that are constantly going, "I heard you're expecting" and then they ask me "Is this your first pregnancy" to which I have to reply no, and they say, "Oh, how many kids do you have" and I say "none"...then this look of understanding comes over their face and they apologize. Haha.

4) What was the last thing that made you cry? DH made me cry. Butthead.

5) Have you thought about the birth at all? Any plans yet? Yes. I want whatever pain medicine I can have because I am a big baby. I want an easy birth, with no pain. Yep, that about covers it.

6) Do you plan to find out the gender and when? Yes, as soon as possible.

7) Foods that you are craving or having aversions to? I like spicy foods, I constantly want salsa, but since I haven't had it in a few days I don't want it quite as bad. No aversions specifically, sometimes I just don't want food.

Are you a SAHM or do you work? If you work, do you plan to return after baby is born? I work full time and yes, I'll be returning to work. *sigh*

9) What scares you the most about having a new one on the way? Everything.

10) Have you bought anything for the baby yet? Heck no, I don't wanna jinx myself.

1) Is the morning sickness gone yet?
I never had it! I had a gaggy experience a time or two, but nothing major. I didn't have it with my son either.

2) What are your newest symptoms?
I want random foods, like white rice with ketchup.

3) Who have you spilled the beans to? Anyone left?
I think everyone knows now!

4) What was the last thing that made you cry?
Watching a story about the panda bear cub that died at the National Zoo.

5) Have you thought about the birth at all? Any plans yet?
I need to pick a hospital, which still feels weird to me after using a midwife at a birth center last time. I so wish we could use her again, but insurance won't cover it and I can't justify using the $ for that expense when we know DH is going to quit his job to be home with the newbie.

6) Do you plan to find out the gender and when?
Yes, ASAP! Hopefully November 6th. I already scheduled an elective u/s. I will be happy either way but I feel like I HAVE TO KNOW.

7) Foods that you are craving or having aversions to?
I crave starch - especially popcorn & rice - and popsicles!

8 ) Are you a SAHM or do you work? If you work, do you plan to return after baby is born?
I work and I plan to return 3 or 4 weeks after baby is born, like I did with my son. My DH was a SAHD with Ben and will be this time, too. I plan to work part-time (3 days a week) the rest of the summer after my short leave to stretch it out. I am not looking forward to working and pumping again - pretty much my one dread about having a new baby.

9) What scares you the most about having a new one on the way?
How it might change our relationship with our three year old, who is the center of our universe (and rightfully so!).

10) Have you bought anything for the baby yet?
No, but they gave me a pacifier at Motherhood when I finally caved and bought maternity pants this weekend.

Welcome Sylvia!

And Holly I also read that Panda story and busted into tears. That is just so heartbreaking. I'm tearing up just thinking about it.
