I know some of you are having trouble with sleep right now but how much are the babies sleeping? I feel like Rylee sleeps too much. She is awake more lately but still sleeps a TON. I think she prob is awake 3-4 hours all day added up. DD slept much much less right from the start. She slept at night but was mostly awake all day with a few cat naps. I am sure it is prob fine but typical worried mom
I think at this age, it's healthy to be awake for only an hour or so at a time. Emma's sleep is getting better, though I wish I could get more solid naps out of her. She mostly cat naps with maybe one solid, totally konked out, 3 hour nap in the afternoon every couple of days. It makes it hard to put her down which can get exhausting. Nights are getting better. She's been sleeping longer stretches. She's still a bit restless in the last stretch with her gas bothering her, but I'm getting better at helping her get her gas out, so that's getting better too! I've actually felt well rested in the morning the last few days.
Julie takes a couple naps during the day from one to two hours. Sometimes, in the evening, she'll sleep for 3-4 hours. But ALWAYS overnight she sleeps from 4-5 hours. I read somewhere that babies don't start spending extended "wake up times" until they're like 6 weeks old.
Reid is awake most of the day now. He takes some little catnaps, but usually not anything too extended. Joan I laughed when I read that yours takes a long one every couple of days. Are we raising the same baby or what? LOL Honestly at this moment I would prefer a baby that sleeps more, cause I'm tired!

I felt compelled to respond to this...my 2nd baby was exactly like this. He slept 20+ hours a day for quite a while and slooooowly began being awake more and more. Once he figured out moving around though, it was all over & now at almost 2, his sleep needs are less than that of my almost 4 year old. Go figure! But enjoy it while it lasts because she's probably just saving up her energy for when she's mobile
