    Default Smoking

Okay ladies, I know this is a no no, but I smoke. I've noticed that hardly anyone mentions it cuz it's taboo to smoke and be pregnant. None of my family knows that I smoke - I never did until I met DH. I know I know, it's stupid.

But since no one knows, I can't post it all over FB -

I have been SMOKE FREE FOR A WEEK! I'M NEVER PICKING UP A CIGARETTE AGAIN!!!

    Well done you!!!!!!!!
    That's awesome!!!!!!

I gave up smoking for a year. Then in November on my last m/c I started smoking again.
I have been battling my addiction again since January.
It's really hard as df smokes in front of me.
We argue quite a bit about it.
But saying that.... I sitting watching legend of Korea with a e cigarette and it seems to be helping.
Had a couple of smoke free days now.
I do know that once I get my bfp I will stop totally!!
Trying not to smoke since o but had a lapse here and there.

    Still well done you!!!
    It gets easier!!!
    I just wish I hadn't started again.

I wish I had never started period. I have asthma, so its incredibly stupid of me to smoke, but.. I was going through a rough time and cigs seemed to help. It makes it super easy to quit when you know you have a baby coming...

and the fact that the smell and the taste bother my stomach

Yeah same here. I started when an ex bf stopped just to annoy him when I smoked around him... How stupid was that????
I have always been anti smoking and just look!!!
    Stupid!!!

I have a lot of friends and family who smoked all through pregnancy and I swear I will never do that.
Looks horrid when you see a heavily pregnant woman with a cigarette.

Babywings, if I could like your post twice, I would! Congrats on one week smoke free, that is AWESOME. I quit smoking about 9 years ago, and it was soooo freaking hard. Good for you for making the one week mark!

Liz - yes, trying to quit while your partner smokes in front of you is next to impossible. Maybe you and M could both quit together to celebrate when you your BFP.

    Alissa!!
    I wish!!
    He won't.
He keeps saying he'll quit but it lasts 2 minutes.
Only last week I said that I wanted to do this seriously and if he wanted to smoke he had to do it away from the house.
Ge agreed but next thing he was in the garden.
He absolutely freaks if I have a cig though.
Baring in mind I smoke maybe 3 cigs a week.
He caught me once and wouldn't speak to me for 2 days lol
    Control issues me thinks.

Oh I just thought... Hmm... I did smoke on my last pregnancy. In the October.
Oh god how bad is that.... The last 2 weeks of my 8 weeks I smoked a bit.
Think it was because I knew it wasn't going to work out.

You get the jumping beans for 1 week smoke free. That is awesome and can't wait to keep counting the smoke free weeks with you.

    Liz,
When this pregnancy started - I "knew" I needed to quit smoking but I'm trying to not even think about being pregnant. All my other pregnancies have failed, so I figured there's no reason to quit smoking (aside from health issues - ha). But I did stop, and as bad as it sounds, I'm not even sure it was for the baby. I think it's just because they make me so SICK. ugh. My DH smokes, he swore up and down if I stopped, he'd stop. Now, I've only been smoking 2 years, he's been smoking ...15? so it's obviously going to be harder for him to stop. He's only attempted to stop once and he was a total jerk..lol...and it only lasted 2 days..

Great job!! I can't imagine how hard it would be to quit, especially cold turkey because you're pregnant.
My mom smoked for years and years (stopped for her pregnancy with me) and went cold turkey about 5 years ago. I am SO proud of her for doing that. Her mother died of emphysema so I think that helped motivate her to quit.
